    Mirrors

I believe on most new cars the passenger side mirror only has slight curvature to give the driver about the same viewing angle as the driver side mirror without distorting the objects too much. Plus a wide angle makes things look closer, and too much can be a driving hazard. Thanks for the info.
  2. Thanks Leon, good stuff. When we were designing systems for fluid flow in college, no one ever suggested we increase friction or reduce flow rate to improve efficiency. That's why I've always been baffled by the talk of backpressure.

    Mirrors

Right hand mirror has to be completely different, with more articulation and different arm angle. They had flat mirrors on cars in the old days. Curved mirrors are maybe 25 years old or so. BTW, read your other threads. Guess we're back to square one. We have no solution that will look original.
  4. That is under consideration if they give me any ****.
  5. This is a real paint shop booths and all. They've been around for many years, wonder how much paint is missing from the cars of other customers. Granted it's primarily a collision shop, but they stripped this car down to metal, redid body work, primed, sanded, primed, blah blah blah....then base/clear. There are some other mistake too, but this is the biggy. I had all glass out and hardware off.
  6. Yeah, not enough to pay for the grinder.
  7. It's the old back pressure argument. The engineer in me says the less restriction the better. More mass flow, less friction losses from turbulence is better. But some says you need back pressure; these discussions go back decades.

    Mirrors

You mean this outfit is selling a left-hand mirror as a right-hand mirror? What the hell is wrong with them?
  9. Aren't the dimension for 240, 260 and 280 all the same? Did the strut towers change that much?
  10. For now I'm staying with the original manifold, which actually has been given a pretty good rating for a casted exhaust manifold.
  11. I'm going to for 2-1/4" too, I hear it's gives you better mid-range power. 2-1/2" is good for racing and lots of high revs. That's what I hear.
  12. My back glass has some scratches on it from an old louver. Maybe I'll sell the thing off one day.
  13. Not yet, only had on the lift once. Hopefully I'll have another chance.

    Mirrors

http://www.datsunparts.com/Mirrors Has anyone purchased these mirrors? If so, how are they? How's the right hand side one work for you?
  15. Hey, if there's no paint along the bottoms surfaces, I think I have a right to expect paint on it. Sorry, but where the hell are you guys coming from? They didn't even seam seal the weld joints under the fenders. I let them have the car for 3 freaking years, and I get this. Do I really sound that impatient given all this?? I serious doubt that it didn't get painted because I didn't pay them $10K to fill their spray gun with paint. After $3K of sheetmetal work and $6500 worth of painting, I want paint where it should be painted.
  16. Haha, notice the color....920. And everyone tells me how much they hate it. Eat your hearts out!
  17. I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't go to leather seat covers.
  18. You can do it yourself. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/SIC03
  19. Mine has some cracks in the plastic, and I may just keep it to give the car character. All that shifting is hard on a shift knob. I'll clean up the wood and refinish that.
  20. Everyone has their own opinion as to what level of originality is the minimum necessary for it to be a Z. A Z is NOT a muscle car. A Z is NOT a Ferrari or a Chevy or a Chrysler or a Ford. It's not a jet or a diesel tractor. It's what Mr K envisioned it to be, which probably allows some latitude, but not too much. It's a fun car, a classic car, a elegant car, and it's unlike anything else. It's soul is what sets it apart, the essense of that brought it to popularity back in 1970. It was a mixture of known lines, yet in a unique form. It put the Japanese sport car industry on the map and shook the world. It's historic!!! It wows everyone who sees, even the owner.
  21. All the fly-by-night outfits are in Oregon. No wonder.
  22. Only gutless weenies change the color from original. Put a 350 in it next with a Mr Gasket shifter.
  23. I was thinking of eventually have tinting installed professionally.
  24. Ugh, I don't think we're going to repaint the entire car for this.
