dash restoration???
lets suppose for project cost, resale value and personal choice if buying said car, would you prefer to have a full dash cap or a profestional recover job with material that closely matches but is softer? the car is a 76, near perfect mostly original condition. the major flaws, the dash has the cracks and dented gas tank. only 98k on it. so which would you prefer? full cap or recover? why? i know i ask the dumbest $^!#. thanks for the opinions. tony

Pics of the booster in. some other pics too
so, after i repainted the booster, the next logical step was to put it back on. i know the firewall is still dirty, but i must have it out side to degrease it. while i had the booster off i redid the paint on the frame rail. some moron spilled brake fluid every where. the rail was just covered in very minor surface rust. i spent about 3 hours to tape and remove what i could.( i still missed a spot, damnit) the green is a close match just with out the metallic flake. i didnt think was to bad for some crap bought at lowes. i think this car sat here in ohio since 95. probably in a barn or carport. the frame only has some surface rust. and not much of it. my original plan was to clean it up and do a quick sale. but. trying to find a good gas tank takes awhile. so i started to clean it up so i could keep it. but i have to sell it after all. 7000.00 vet bill slapped me right in the face today. and heres the coil i painted. comments? and look for her forsale soon. thanks tony

Repainted my booster. What do you think
i am cleaning up my 76. unbolting everything and wiping everything down. this can hasnt been cleaned since at least 96. so sad. so it all looks good except for the booster and the big black bracket for the fusible links. then it begins. i could nt take it, so i took out the booster, the bracket thing, the coil and the bracket for the booster check valve. heres how the booster turned out. all i did was sand it with 180 and 400 sand paper, clean it, primer and paint it. i know its not a perfect match, but i does look really close to my 77 that is still shiney. opinions? thanks tony

280z mods vs 350z stock
well, since i have both a 280 and 350 right now, let me say, the 350 is awesome for an all motor car. but, a sr20 or rb26 280 would be way better.(and maybe cheaper, depending on which 350 model.) i love the 350 but its very expensive to mod, and just not fun to work on. but the younger hot chicks do love them. i guess it depends on how you drive and how much you like comfort vs. old school. tony

I realllllly need a gas tank.
tbk1- i need an efi tank for the 280, but, i do have several 240's that may need a tank as well. can you get some pics of it? i cant have any rusted pin holes in it, but i plan on having cleaned and reseales anyway, so rusty on the inside is ok to some point. cethern-how much? how rusty(see above) thanks tony

I realllllly need a gas tank.
not for this car. its 100% original, so a fuel would kill the resale value, as it will be for sale if i ever find a tank. i do have my 77 that i am keeping. i thought of switching to a cell on that, but i just dont have the time to mount it properly right now. to many projects at once is a headache this[------------------------------------------------------------------------------------]big thanks tony

Should I save this one?
i have been had by some very good quick fixes. so i wont do that to anyone. i may let it sit and start on the silver 73 i have, but if i start on that one, i need to figure out which engine i want in my 77 zg. AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH so, anyway what you some of you pay for the 72? i wouldnt pay very much for it if was looking at it. thanks tony

Should I save this one?
i have lots of good bumpers. i will see if i have another euro one.

Should I save this one?
i am by no means trying to restore her. that will be for the next owner. i just wanted to save her if possible. for about 700 bucks i can have new quarters, new rocker and new top deck plate welded in(parts and labor). and 800-1000 have her painted and any body work done. cleaning up the exsisting interior is no problem. and clean up the engine bay wont cost too much. so can i get 1500-2000 in parts, or spend 1500-2000 and sell it for 3 or 4g's. i could sell it as is. maybe get 1500. i hate having so many options and with 9 z's thats like 56813657 different options.

Should I save this one?
it is a 72. i cant remember the month it was born. if i save it, what color to repaint. it was originally orange. stay maroon or go bright? and i need you guys to buy some parts so i can finance her survival:)

Should I save this one?
i am trying to decide whether or not to part this out or to weld all new metal in and paint it to sell. after i get the green 76 done in the next couple of weeks, this one is next. what do you guys think? the dash is perfect, the bumpers have only a few little spots rust, but are straight as hell.(euro one on the front) it needs both quarters, one rocker, top deck plate and some work under the battery tray. and the interior needs seats and carpet. i certainly dont want to dump a ton of money in it, only to sell it for 3 or 4 g's. it will take at least 1500 just in metal, welding and paint.(iknow a good body that can paint for cheap). any input guys. thanks tony

pulling a dent from fuel tank?
i like that expoxy idea. i may try a suction cup dent puller. thanks

pulling a dent from fuel tank?
anyone ever try this? my 76 is super clean, even the fuel tank looks new, except for a huge dent on the left side of it. i was thinking of droping the tank, removing the float assembly and using a large wood dowel to try an pop it out from the inside. thoughts? thanks tony

What to do?
i cant decide what to do here. some input would be nice.( i have trouble making up my mind on anything) i have a 77 with a freshly rebuilt stock 2.8. it was rebuilt at a nissan dealer with only new nissan parts. everything in it is new.(cost was like 2800 in parts) then i have a 73 with f54 block, su's, header.(unknow miles) i want to make the 77 in to zg, so triple carbs are must(even though i prefer efi). so do i use the new motor, or just pull the 73 motor and use it. (i would put a stock 73 motor back in the 73 and sell it, its very clean). i would have to pull the head anyway to port the hell out of it and slap a cam in it. the f54 block already has the flattop pistons, mine doesnt. the one has header already, mine doesnt. how much more would a 2.8 in 73 bring compared to a stock( non #'s matching 73). to many options. regaurdless, i will have weber 60mm t/b for sale after its done. anyway, just looking for some outside z input. thanks tony

Bought another one today.
i finally got home in the day light to get some pics. http://img466.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p1010232ft4.jpg there are several on there. i have not had a chance to wash it, so its really dirty. i looked it over again and still havent found anything more than surface rust. i am hoping to get it on a lift to power wash the underside, then paint and undercoat it. i will probably keep it awhile so i can get it repainted then sell her to a worthy person. sorry kids, no z for you. tony
