I thought they were M6 screws also but they only turn a time or two and then stop. I tried several other likely suspects (including the ones off my wife's Ford) and nothing seemed to fit. It could very well be that a former owner force-fed some other type of screw into it. I may take the other guy's advice and get one of everything from the local O'Reilly's and see if anything fits.
  2. I just got my 240 about 6 weeks ago. I was out in the garage working on it that first weekend and, what do you know, an eleven-year-old boy from the neighborhood walks up and says, "Wow, is that a Datsun?!" I was absolutely amazed that the kid knew what it was. His mother told me later he was a little car nut. So, maybe there's hope for this new generation after all.

OK, another dumb question. My 73 240z didn't have plates on it when I bought it. The screws to mount the rear plate were missing too. I have tried several different screws but none seem to fit. Does anyone know what specific size screw/thread pattern I should be looking for? The guy at the hardware store is no help.

That's kind of what I figured - since there are no retractors on the shoulder belt. I'm torn between using this hook and hanging the belt from the clothes hook above the window. I haven't seen this part on Black Dragon or any of the other parts sites. Does anyone sell them?

I have this little hook that is about shoulder height just behind the passenger door of my '73 240z. Any idea what purpose this served? Should I assume there was supposed to be one on the driver's side too? If so, if anyone has a spare one they'd like to get rid of, please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for that cut-away photo. There was a rubber grommet on the line that goes to the driver's side of the gas tank and I couldn't figure out where that was supposed to go. Based on the photo, I now think it belongs right where the hoses passes through one of the supports so that the metal doesn't cut into the hose. In any event, I picked up a handful of M5 stainless screws and washers from Ace Hardware and I'm happy to report the tank is now back where it belongs. Again, thanks to everyone who responded. Glad you guys have my back!

Does anyone have a good photo or diagram of how the gas reservoir tank inside a 1973 240z ought to look installed? I just took delivery of a '73 this week and the reservoir is laying on the floor of the rear hatch. I don't want to put gas in the car until its reconnected - but I want to make sure I do it right. Please note that the nuts and bolts to secure it to the inner fender are gone - is it attached with the usual 10mm bolts? Any help on this is very much appreciated!
