240Z parts/parts car photo NYC
Thanks, I got your email after I figured out another way. I bought a mini pry bar, about 1.25" wide and held it against the strip. Lightly taping the pry bar above and below the strip got it started and I was then able to pull it off ever so carefuly an inch at a time. At times it would stick from the rust on the body, but repeating the pry bar taping got it started again. Thanks

Sorry I didn't answer sooner, since no one was interested in the whole car I decided to part it out, probably on ebay. From what I am told by a friend who lives in Arizona you should be able to get stuff in better condition instate. The front bumper is in good condition, the overider bar is bent. There is rust on the inside. FWIW, I was unable to remove the rear bumper. It has two small holes on the left side piece, but the NLA center section is good. I was going to remove it for someone who requires a bumper for some types of races. However someone used bolts with 14mm heads (10mm) on the sides. No amount of heat or PB Blast will remove them and I don't own a sawsall. About the only thing that is going to the junkyard is the differential, I could not remove the rear crossmember due to rust and the car needs to roll to get out of the garage. I will be buying back the dif from the yard. In any case, nothing goes on sale till after the Summit Point WV Datsun event. Any tricks on removing the SS rain gutter trim?

differential removal '71 240
My friend in New Hampshire can't find one. I have already broken one of the crossmember bolts, inspite of repeated heatings. Need to be able to roll the car out and have it towed, therefore I don't want to have the suspension mounts broken.

differential removal '71 240
I am parting out a '71 Z car. I am trying to remove the differential without droping the suspension. Every bolt is very rusty and I have broken a couple of bolts in spite of using a methaceteline torch. The car needs to roll to get out of the garage. Right now I have the differential unbolted from the front cross member and the mustache bar but can't get it out. The mount with it's very rusted bolts is still connected. Thanks Steve

71 240Z in NYC pts/pts car NEW photo
71 240Z parts/parts car. I am having trouble posting the correct photo. This should show the rear, I will try to upload the front pictur tomorrow. I have a 71 240Z I am parting out since there was no intrest in a rolling parts car. It is NOT restorable. Doors, Hatch, windshield, 1 hoods(paint was removed on 80% of the top surface, some flash rust only on top, dash has two cracks. Short block, rebuildable 4spd. The car is a roller with 43K original miles. It has not been registered since 1987. Will consider selling the whole car. The car is located in Staten Island, NY 20 minutes from Newark, NJ airport. I am making parts available for pick up now, will consider shipping after 5/15. The car needs to roll and steer to get to the junkyard. I will ask the junkyard if they will sell suspension pieces. Not sure if I was able to post both fenders. Left one has two small holes that may not be apparent in the jpg

I should have mentioned that the differential is hanging "free" with the mount still attached. The bolts are very rusted on the mount. The junk yard said they will sell it back to me for $25. Steve

Sorry, I thought you guys lost interest. I have already removed the hatch, and passenger door. The rear quarters are bondo. The spare tire area is solid as is the gas in the tank ;-). I need the differential, door sills and the dash. The rear sill under the hatch collapsed from rust. It rolls, but the engine is hanging by a chain from the firewall. I am going to hire help to remove the front bumper and fenders as I have pulled a tendon in my right elbow and I am having trouble using my left hand. Need to get the car out ASAP and will be calling a junk yard on Friday. Still want/need pictures??? BTW, is there a trick to get the differential out without removing the rear suspension? In spite of using a torch I have broken one of the piviot bolts and I am afraid to break more as I need to roll this out to have it towed. Steve

71 240Z parts/parts car
The car has no frame rails, gapeing holes in the floors and when I leaned on the hatch sill it colapsed. There is bondo on the quarters and nothing left for the bottom of the fenders to hold on to. Still want to see pictures? I am not comfortable about getting under it ...... It fell down once while on six stands. Consider it a donner for suspension, glass, short block, and maybe some non ferous parts. I also have an extra drivers door and a hood that someone stripped 15 years ago. Steve
