new tires for my 17's
hi 1 tuff z, i'm using 235/45/17 on my 240z as well (you are using 235/40/17) there are photos of the wheels that i'm using in my photo gallery. i had to roll the rear guards so that the lip was "square", but the width of the body remains unchanged, the car is not "flared". did you have that problem to?? now even when i fully lower the car (using height adjustable platforms) the car doesn't rub at all (and this is when you can't even see any tyre, ie the rim is really tucked under the guards) as i bought the wheels from a friend that already had them on his zed, i don't know the offset of them. what offset are you using???

Help needed as soon as possible....please
hi all, i think that if you block of the breather on the valve cover will promote oil leaks. the pressure that will be built up in the engine will blow gaskets etc. keep it vented, you are better of leaving it open that blocking it up at all, even if it has no filter on it!!

the Ultimate
hi all, if i had to build one zed to a no comprimise package, then i would do exactly what i'm doing now, my rb26dett 240z!!! but i would get a sequential transmission and a few more set of wheels (nice magnesium ones!) and make it 4Wd as well. yes, a 4wd zed has been done already (in japan of course) i had pics of the car in my photo gallery a while back if anyone remembers

Roll cage installation behind dash
hi zach, as show in this photo http://www.240z.org/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2010 the cage does not go side to side under the dash. the cage was made and welded by a guy that makes roll cages for a living and is made of chrome-moly tubing. it is not a kit type cage that is "bolt on"

Triple Michunis...
Hi all, the triple Mikuni and SK manifold set up got sold for AUD$1200!!! I really wanted to get it but unfortunately didn't have money at the time! They were 44mm Mikunis and a Sanyo Kiki intake manifold all complete with linkages etc. The set up is going into a car that is being built for Targa Tasmania (the world's greatest tarmac rally). I will get picks of the car once it goes together. BTW does anyone know a source for SK manifolds?

What kind of fundraiser merchandise would you buy?
Hi all, very good ideas coming in from all over the place!!! I would like to se the grill emblem idea get done. It will mark itself as a piece of history over time!!! Mike, I'll take a couple of those (one for each zed that I currently own) and also a dozen more (for the zeds that I will have by the time I retire!!!)

Factory V8 240Zs
Hi all, all this chatter of the new 350Z and V6 vs inline 6 engines, and gossip of having V8 engines in S30 zed cars.... did you know that the factory actually also tried the 240Z with a V8 President engine!!! In Brian Long's book he wrote that they found it "although very fast, the weight of the unit affected the handling"

Car Of The Month
Hi all, just for a bit of fun, how about running a section called "Car of the Month". I think it would be a way for members to show that someone has done a great job of maintaining/restoring an S30 car. Maybe cars should be nominated by other members, or perhaps we can randomly generate 10 or 20 members' names each month and those can then be the candidates to be in the running that month (i.e. vote on those 10 or 20 cars). Ok, I begin with nominating Alan Thomas' car (HS30-H) I love that car.... Alan can I please have it when you get bored with it???? What do others think on this feature????

Availability/Price Zed's in OZ?
Hi all, just a point on converting a LHD to RHD. I used to work in a panel beating shop that specialised in converting US Porsche 911s to RHD. The conversion is very involved, having to cut lots of the LHD metal out and spot welding new RHD panels in. In a 911 RHD conversion, things like the pedal box (have to relocate to the other side and also reshape the floor to make it fit), door mounted rear view mirrors, and other things have to be attended to (such as extending the wiring for the electric mirrors and modifying the door panels for the switches). I personally don't think is cheaper, and you would be far better of getting a RHD car in the first place. Think about all the work (cost of your labour or a tradesman's), cost of buying the RHD panels, cost of painting the area that was converted, and cost of buying a RHD dash. At the end of the day it is MUCH more expensive doing it this way. But I know that someone will always think otherwise, so go ahead and prove me wrong!

Turbo 240Z
Hi all, that set up looks like its using aftermarket efi throttle bodies. I have some 45mm ones that are a Webber bolt pattern (ie can be bolted onto a triple Webber manifold). Mine are made by Speed-Technology/efi hardware in Melbourne/Australia Just accumulating parts for my 3.1L engine build (next project after the RB, but you're not supposed to know) This is their link: http://www.speed-technology.com/efi_intro_animation.html

Heres a topic, engine swaps, Discuss!
Hi all, I may be biased as I’ve gone this path for my 240z, but I think that the RB26DETT is one of the ultimate engines to put into a early zed. Others argue that the L series can make lots of power, and it’s true, they can make decent power. But take into account the cost of building a stroked L series engine and were you end up after you have added EFI throttle bodies, management and the rest. The late model design of the RB series of engines will be the pick and recommendation from me, you don’t need to go “all the way†as I have and choose the RB26DETT, other engines are available, in both atmo and turbo form, ranging from 2L to 3L. A very nice one would be the RB25DET for example. AND you will always have the choice, (oh the choices, sometimes it complicates things!!) of putting forged pistons, better turbos, custom manifolds, larger injectors, more efficient intercooler, external wastegate, cams, cam gears, conrods, and so on..... Anyway, all to their own!!!

TwinTurbo 240Z Pics
HI 240Z TT, Very nice set up you have there, interesting to say the least. I have a turbo 240 as well, I'm using a RB26DETT in mine, you can see my progress photos by clicking the album link on the left. Do you have anymore photos??? Maybe you can post some more under your album section!!!

Lsd?
Hi all, I'm using a KAAZ LSD centre in my R200 diff. It is a 1.5 way multi clutch plate type. KAAZ is a top brand that is made in Japan. Here is a link to their US web page: http://www.kaazusa.com/ Not cheap, but quality never is!!!

backspacing....
Hi all, on my RB26DETT 240Z I'm using ROH ZS 17x8.5 wheels (they are made in Australia) I'm running 235/45/17 tyres on them and have no rubbing problems at all. BUT NOTE that I have modified suspension AND have rolled up the inner lips of the rear guards so that they are flat and vertically upwards, but this doesn't change the width of the body externally or the look from outside. Also it is very important that the offset of the rims are correct to eliminate rubbing problems.

Triple Michunis...
Hi all, a good friend of mine has a triple Mikuni set up for sale, I'm not sure if they are the 40mm or the 44mm, I'll have to check. These are mounted on an SK intake manifold and have all the linkages between them, they are in very good condition, I'll get some photos of the set up soon.
