I need new shocks..it makes me mad!
I put a set of GR-2 KYBs on my 72 a couple of years ago and kept the original 275,000k springs. The ride is firm, but not stiff or jarring. I was working at the local Nissan dealsership at the time, and I can tell you it rides much better than the new 350Zs. I was going to replace my springs as well, but did not want to lower it. I was able to get all but 1 rear spring new. For that reason I reused my old ones. Devin

Z car value
My car is a stock driver with no rust, all records, was my mom's for the first 30 years. I'm guessing it's worth somewhere between 10 and 20K. It has too much sentimental value to give away. If I'm going to sell it, I'd like to get what it's worth. Devin

Z car value
I'm debating putting my 72 up for sale, but would like an idea on where to start pricing it. Are there any references out there other than Ebay? Devin

What Zs are meant to do
Aside from a couple of squeaks and rattles, mine goes down the road about like they did when new. I rebuilt the suspension last year, mainly new struts, and a few bushings. The seats are still original and in good condition. It doesn't have cruise control of course, but 4 out of my 5 cars don't. Not a big deal. I've done this same trip in my 2004 Altima a number of times and it's very boring. Driving my Z keeps me interested in where I'm going. Devin

What Zs are meant to do
Did a 600 mile road trip in my Z this weekend winding through California's redwoods and wine country. I can't think of a better car for a trip like that. Devin

Your thoughts wanted, preservation/restoration?
I like the looks of that spook. Far more understated than most. Is there a Nissan part number for it? Or do I have to get one from MSA? If so can somebody provide me a link? Devin

74 260 Needs New Struts
Stacey- I came North from San Diego about 10 years ago. You may want to contact the Z club of San Diego for local shops, or maybe another enthusiast to install your struts. The web site used to be zcsd.org, but is currently expired. I'm sure a phone nuber can be located locally. Devin

Your thoughts wanted, preservation/restoration?
I was/am a hot rodder of American iron and have hacked up more vehicles than I care to admit to. I always respected the guys that could take an old hulk and put it back to showroom condition. I was always looking for more horsepower, better handling, etc. That was, until I got my Z. My folks bought it new in 72 and didn't change anything. My mom used it for her daily driver until 2002. Sure, it's been maintained, things have been replaced as they wore out/broke-whatever, but it's still all stock. I got it in Feb 2002 and drive it on nice days now, not my daily by a long shot. There's still some things that need attention, but I could never modify it because of the sentimental value of it. Now, if I could only find another to tweak......

240Z 4 speed console for sale
I have a spare console for a 240Z that I bought a while back site unseen. It is in good condition, no cracks etc. It does have a pair of switches between the ashtray and the shift boot. I can email a pic if somebody is interested. Devin

Red 240 interior
I know that my car came with a shroud because my folks bought it new. It does have aftermarket a/c installed before they brought it home off the lot. I'm looking at a larger radiator and making a shroud for it, but that's for a different thread. Devin

Red 240 interior
NR240- If you can still get a new console from Nissan, grab as many as you can. I work for Nissan as a tech, and the parts guys will go a ways to help me get the right (factory) parts. I tried to get a new console 2 1/2 years ago when I got the car, but it came back NLA, no longer available. That means that as far as Nissan is concerned, no more exist. Some of the larger dealers may have one still in stock. Driftin John- I am just a little ways south of Eureka. Sounds like you must be in or near Redding from the temps you were listing. Does your Z run hot over there? I took mine over last year for the show in Mt Shasta, and damn near had the temp gauge pegged climbing back over the hill on 299 headed for the Shasta/Trinity county line. Hill probably has a name but I don't know it. The cooling system is in good condition, but the shroud is missing, disappeared somewhere over the years. Devin

Red 240 interior
I've thought about the dye, and may end up having to go that route, but since my interior has faded, I'm thinking I'll have a hard time coming up with a good match, and I'm not into tearing the whole interior out at this time........just having too much fun driving it. The end of your post said you are looking for a center console, Mine is black just like any other. I do have a spare that I picked up a while back, pretty good condition as long as you don't mind a couple of switches just in front of the ashtray. I did find one New Old Stock at the Datsun show in Mt. Shasta last year, but the seller wanted $450 for it. Devin

Red 240 interior
I am looking for the furthest back panel on the driver's side for my 240. This is the one the hatch strut lower mount hides behind. My strut broke off of its mount, damaging the panel in the process. If anybody has one in good condition, please contact me. Devin aka 72240Z

stock Zs, 240s especially
Like I said, I'm nt against modifying old car, I've hacked up a few myself, but mine's too nice to destroy. The story on my Z is that my folks bought it new, ran it in SCCA rallys in SoCal in the early 70s, and after that my mom just drove it every day until I finally got it in Feb of '02. Seeing as how it hasn't been changed for all these years, it would seem a good idea to keep it original even now. The thought of a set of 16 in Panasports, a big nasty cam, lowering springs, headers, and on and on has certainly crossed my mind but I've restrained from doing it. As it is now, it's a well balanced car, not overly powerful, but the handling and power balance is good. I have other toys to go too fast with. Devin

stock Zs, 240s especially
Just got to thinking, it seems I have the only stock 240 around, certainly in my area. I'm talking stone stock, no slot mags or webers ...........nothing modified. Not against modifying a car, just curious. Devin aka72240Z

looking for red 240 interior panel
I am in need of the driver's side interior quarter panel in the original 72 red. I can find them in black for replacments, but really don't want to change the color of the entire interior to match. Tried vinyl die before, it tends to scratch if something touches it. anybody have a prts car with the right color? Devin aka 72240Z

Red interior panel
the lower mount on my hatch strut broke away from the body recently, tearing the interior quarter panel in the process. I am looking for a replacement in the original red color. Anybody got one? Devin aka 72240Z

nozzles
I have a stock 72 240, with 3 bolt carbs. My nozzles have been giving me problems recently, which I have worked out for the time being, but I think they are worn out and probably need to be replaced. Before I do that though, I would like to measure mine and check it against stock spec. Does anybody have the spec for the O.D. of these? Thanks, Devin
