  1. Wrong link for 8L http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DODGE-VIPER-8-0-V10-400-HP-NEW-CRATE-ENGINE-SAVE_W0QQitemZ290155444014QQihZ019QQcategoryZ33615QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Plus these suckers barely have any miles on them.

Would be sweet to convert a 240z to this. Maybe even an 80's 300zx. :classic: Would need a lot of work I would think. AWD would be sweet to if that could be done also. I would have thought that this motor would be more expensive. Silly HEMI crate motors are extremely expensive for what they are, and all that is is a crate more. I also think that an LS7 is more expensive.
  3. Just drop the L26 in there and fix the L24 when you have nothing better to do. L26 should give you a little more rwhp and would use the carbs a bit better with the increased displacement.
  4. 2008 Viper all the way. Though the cell phone repair company, I bet really couldn't afford that much. I bet that a G37 would have been out of the price range. I had rather of got a slightly used LS2 GTO instead of the 350z if he was in the $26k range. After that car, it is still like he got $52/hour for his work. I had heard that it took him 500 hours to get the thing hacked.
  5. mpg

Not bad. I had a "How many mpg" thread a while ago. People pulling off nearer to 30mpg is pretty crazy for a motor designed 35+ years ago with carbs and a 4-Speed, compared to FI, full saving sensors everywhere in todays motors with the same liters. Crazy that it also gets roughly the same hp and torque of todays motors. City isn't too pretty though and acts like a V8 or just something twice as big.

We have the same name! I have only meant with one person face to face with my same name, and I think that you are the first internets person that I have noticed having the same name. Pretty cool.
  7. Come on man!!! The least you could have got was an Infiniti G37! I wonder what kind of other type offers he is getting. Mostly school and job offers if any. The tutorial is supposed to already be online to get this iPhone running with other services, so I am sure that he wouldn't have made much money off this thing. Just that AT&T might be a little made at them. Maybe a little something something from Apple.

Thats a lovely Z there. Looks to be in great shape. There are a hanful of S30s that putt around here and each time I see one it makes me sad since my Z is out in Cali still.

I was asking about tires a long time ago for my 240z. I am not sure if the 260z is much the same way, but I was basically being told if I went higher then what I did, I would probably start rubbing my tires in the front while turning. So I just stuck with the 195/70 R14 performance tires that I found. I could have gone larger in the rear, and I wanted too, like 225's, but the tire manufacture don't go that high for 14's for this tire and I really don't want to be driving around with two different makes or models. Here are my tires, and they are going on the original 19-spoke rims. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR+H4&vehicleSearch=false&partnum=97HR4HTRH4&fromCompare1=yes&place=3 Plus I have always thought the Z car to look better with smaller rims and taller tires, then bigger rims and shorter tires.
  10. Wow! That is insane. If I ever become loaded in the future, I want to do something a long those lines to another 240z car.

The 240z started out in the 2300lbs range. Then through out the 260z and up to the 280zx turbo they added a bunch of weight due to government regulations and what not. I think that they tampered off around the 2700~2800lbs range. Still, the 05 through 07 350z only competition would be the 300zx Twin-Turbo. Seems like the 03 through 04 350z would lose out to the 300zx TT as the motor was much weaker for these years compared to the newer 350s.

That actually came from one of his movies. That isn't on Top Gear. I love Top Gear because he never drives anything American so it is all good. His movies on the other hand, he can't say one good thing about an American auto which pisses me off to no end. He has a movie were he takes each catagory of vehicles and does tests. Be these are his tests. Not the best American ride, but an average one against the best European one for the same class. They are totally unfair. Plus most of what he likes or tests with is owned by Americans, so it is sort of funny because they even have some American things in them like a motor for example. His main thing about American autos is the interior, but the rest of the world is just as bad and worse even. I would figure it to be more like this 300zx TT (90's) 350z CLOSE HERE: 280zx Turbo 300zx Turbo (80's) 300zx N/A (90's) 260z 240z/280z 280zx 300zx N/A (80's) Though it would be cool if we could do this ourselves. Find stock rides and bench them out together. Though it would be hard to find all the Z cars together in a tight place to do this.

I have the stock 240z radiator. When I was changing the coolant a long time ago, I noticed that it didn't have a reservoir. Has anyone added a reservoir to this baby? If I can get enough money before I go out there, I would like to order a 4 row radiator to improve cooling and would still like a reservoir. Does anyone know of a good reservoir that is easy to put in and doesn't stick out and look weird when the hood is popped?
  14. Those louvers for a 71?

Seems cool. Think that I might go for it. I am going to end up getting a decent sound system in there, so I will eventually need the extra juice. Since it is simple, fast and idiot proof, I am down with it!

How does this thing weigh for a 240z?

So, is there any pros or cons to using a stronger Alternator? Are the 280's a direct swap? If I do decide to run a stronger alternator, does anything else have to be changed out?
  18. I need to hit up my local junk yards. I mostly need to find a Diff and 5-Speed. If I found a 2.8T that would be the bomb!!! Or a Triple carb setup. :devious: A spare motor would never hurt either.

Also, I have heard that it is a tight fit for that motor, and even tighter for the V8 VK45 but possible. Should fit, but a lot of work might be involved.
  20. I know that those springs usually lower it an 1in or so, but if you lost that much weight off the engine, and that much weight off your front tires, they might just raise your car a bit. There are some Illunmia Tokico Springs that are adjustable which might suit you better. Not bashing but I would have got an RB25/RB26. Even an RB20 in there. The motors are bigger and have more weight on the front tires. I hear that the SR20 conversions under-steer because there is no weight on the front tires as the SR20 motors make it a mid-engine ride. Still the best Inline-4 you can have!!

Do the 240z, 260z, 280z, and 280zx all have different gas tanks? I am wondering if they have smaller or larger gas tanks and if they can fit into a 240z?

NGK Haynes manual even recommends NGK. The cheaper ones too. There are new lazer beem ones that I would like to try, but I am sure they they would do some serious damage.
  23. , thats funny. Everyone is trying to take advantage of the situation right now. Hell, I guess I will sue him too for say $145,000 for ummm..... cursing at my child at the last home game. He's so traumatized still.

Snap, I did not know that the 1st Gen Miata extended all the way to 1997. I am still not much for the looks compared to the nearer one, but I sure do like the changes made from my buddies 1991 Miata. I am not sort of wanting to check out a earlier model to compare. The 1.8L sure does have some nicer numbers too. If you don't mind the question, how much did you drop on the car and what mileage is on it? My buddy paid $3,000 for his. Excellent condition with 170,000 miles. I am not sure how the hell the car looked so great at 170,000 miles, but it did. Though I personally think that $3k was a little much for a 91' that I am sure is less desired with 170,000 miles.

I would agree that the new Miatas look pretty nice, and have a bit of power in them now. Some 100lbs more then what you got, but with like 50hp more. I know that it is light, but at the wheels the first Miatas were under 100 for both figures. I have a buddy with a 1991 Miata and was not impressed at all. Slow all around the rev range, and even with a front sway bar the thing rolled like crazy. I wouldn't go V8 if you end up thinking about it. Going to add twice or more the weight in the front, so other things will need to be upgraded to handle the extra weight and the car is going to be front heavy too. If anything I would go with a supercharger or turbocharger on what is already there. Though I am happy that you got that at least. I hate it when car companies design a 2/4 door, and just to sell to the other market, they chop the top off and say that it is a convertible.
