Winter Car..?
Any Subaru, which some early 90's can be found for cheap. I think that some models in this time were FWD, so make sure you get AWD. Anything else with AWD or 4x4. I would go with just about any jeep or truck with 4x4, isuzu trooper/rodeo can be found for cheap, mitsubishi suv's are cheap, ect. Maybe a Datsun truck with 4x4!? Though I personally would either get a truck, a Subaru, or a Jeep and must have AWD or 4x4. Plus ABS and Traction Control would be a nice addition also.

Harnesses and eletric reliability
I think that it is the switch as the headlights also don't work either. I wrote an email to my brother to look over all the electronics of the car and report back to what is up. I won't find out for sure till January if my brother can't. Though reading a little bit on the forums, it seems like it could possibly be a connector issue which would be really nice. I need to get under there anyways because I need to take the tach out and hope that a cleaning will fix that. It goes up till about 3,000rpm and gets stuck. Then takes a few minutes for it to go back down.

Red's Great Journey West, then East Again
Well, I am going to go a head and start this. I have been thinking about this everyday for almost a month, and I just get so excited. I just hope that all goes well for me in the end. Anyways. A week ago, the tickets were ordered. I am flying out from Nashville to San Jose on January 8th. Going to be at my brothers house working on my Z car. She already runs, but I need to make it road ready for the 3,000 mile trip. Brakes, suspension, electrical reliability, ect. ect. I will be leaving on January 21st at 12noon to be on my way home. The trip has already been planned out by me and my dad who is going to be my secondary driver for faster progress and a greater time. We planned it out, and AAA is finalizing it for us right now. (San Jose, CA to Chattanooga, TN) Basically, from San Jose, we are going to be headed south towards LA on I-5. We are going to stay 2 days in Hollywood. My dad is a huge movie fan, and I would love to also see the sights, and hope that I meet some famous people. Then, we are going to head further south in South L.A. My dad and I have a buddy who lives just south of L.A. next to the beach. Going to spend a maximum on 2 days chilling with him having a great time. Then from there, depending on weather conditions we will be heading towards Las Vegas on I-15. Going to see the sites there, see some shows, and see the Grand Canyon. Spend a maximum of 2 days here too. Though, if the weather is bad (snow), which I don't mind so, as I have been there twice already, we are going to shot straight across to Phoenix on I-10. If we stay in Vegas, after the stay we are going to still head down to Phoenix on I-40/I-17. Though, we are going to stay right outside of Phoenix is Tuscon. Western movies are filmed here, so my dad wants to see that. I don't care as much, but he loves Westerns so it is all good. Depending on how much there is to do, we will stay up to 2 days here. Then a few hours out of Tuscon, still in Arizona in Willcox we have some family, so depending on what they are up to, we will chill at there place for a while. (Still on I-10) Then will are going to shoot across New Mexico on I-10 still, and probably stay at El Paso for a night. Get ready for the long drive across Texas. Might head into Mexico, but I hope that we don't. We are going to take I-10 in Texas and just haul a$$ across the state and stop in Louisiana for the night. It Louisiana, we are going to stay on I-10 into New Orleans. Spend on night here. Mainly check out the historic district, and see all what is left of Katrina, which I am expecting to still be like nothing has yet to change in some places. Then from there, the last leg of the trip, we are going to hit up I-59 all the way home. So that is the trip out west by airplane, and the trip back east by car. Two weeks at West, and then depending on friends, family and weather, I will be anywhere from one week to two weeks on the road home. Now before I leave, I still need to get my loan of at least $1,000, but I am hoping for $1,500 to be safe. Going to be pushing to get this tomorrow actually, Dec. 17th. Then just order some 13 more parts that I need for the trip back. Some of it is needed, and then some of it will make it a nicer and more reliable trip. As I find out more information, and when the trip begins until its final ending, this thread will be updated. If I take pictures or videos I think that I will put a few here in this thread, and put more in other parts of the forums where they belong.

Harnesses and eletric reliability
Well, I am hopefully going to be ordering the upgrade harnesses for the parking light and the headlights, and the alternator adapter for my 240z, so that I can get a stronger alternator. Are there any other electrical adapters and harnesses that I should consider? Most of my electric works except for the wipers and headlights, but I want everything else to be updated if possible as I want this 36 year old buddy to be more so reliable then the day it was sold. Edit: I also already got the electric distributor to replace the points.

Speakers
Ok, so.... Where are some 5 1/4 inch speakers with a slim back and the mounting brackets for the speakers that go in the rear end of the 240z. I am going to see if I can start on my sound project so that I can at least listen to the radio with 2 speakers. I can't find the speakers with slim backs, and I can not find the bracket. I do not care about the wattage really. Just some nice quality.

Just a quick "Hello"
Welcome to the forums. This is the place to be for all your information. I think, other then the obvious stuff, the only newbie mistake is not checking for rust EVERYWHERE. Spend a good hour with the help of a jack and a flash light to see what kind of rust the girl has. Rust is the #1 enemy of these things, so check every nook and cranny.

What does your Z want for the Holidays?
Front rotors, coil, arizona springs, strut bump stops, ss brake lines, hatch weather stripping is all that is on my list.

Crane Cam XR7000
I haven't installed it yet, but I went the 1980zx distributor with the E12-80 (or is it E80-12?) module. Going to be buying a flamethrower coil to go with it. Should be a nice little upgrade. Spent a little over $120 all together on this I think, and got a very nice rebuilt distributor. In 3 weeks or so I can let you know how it does though. I thought that the 240z only had the Ignitor I?

Z car tool box
I am flying out there, but I am going to have two weeks out that way to get stuff done and have some time to enjoy the sites. But I am getting a load, so I am going to end up buying everything out that way when I am there or order it online before I leave.

Z car tool box
So, I am getting a loan here soon for my trip to California. Going to use it for the trip, and still need to order a few parts and use it to get some stuff done. Anyways, on the trip home, what are some basic things that would be good to have? This is the list that I already have going and am just checking to see if there is anything else that might be good to have on hand. Lug Rench Jack 2qt Oil Rench Srew Driver duck tap

About time
Cool, glad you are with us! You will learn lots here and find out everything that you need to know! If I were you, one of the first things that I would do is get an intercooler on that, get a boost controller, get some dynoed tuned settings and be set! The intercooler would give you a performance boost, but it will also help your engine to run under less extreme stress.

Weather stripping at the window shop
Now, I am most likely going to take my 240 to a shop to get the rear window put in. Question that I have is do I need to order the weather stripping and take it in with the car and window? Or would it be recommended to do so? I know that it is a silly question, but always better to ask anyways.

The State of Things....
You talking about the restaurant by chance? If I see one, hell yeah I am going to pull over. :classic: I know that there is one up in Nashville but I have yet to go there Going to go across I-40, and my dad is wanting to also go sight seeing while he do this journey, so I am going to be looking a line for stuff that isn't too far off the interstate. All I have to do is just put parts on the car before he head out all of which are bought except rotors and springs. All it is is to make it comfortable and safe during the drive (e.g. brakes, suspension, tires) Then some other smaller pieces here and there.

Yea I'm new and need serious opinions.
Your going to need to go to hybridz.org for this one. Getting to go super fast is super expensive. For drag and drifting, I would set my eyes on a RB26DETT that is modified for more power, or a stock LS2 or LS7 that could always just be easily supercharged if more power is needed. I would not consider any other motors, other then the 2JZ which is a strong rival of the RB26DETT.

Datsun 950z?
I would be extremely tempted to rip that Datsun sign off and leave a note on his hood. Still unmistakable a 350z. I was thinking more along the lines of him trying to make his 350z look like a GT-R or something.

The State of Things....
My state of things is I got ordered my tickets to Cali. I am flying January 8th, and will be leaving on the 20th for the great 2,400 mile journey back home in the Z!

Datsun 950z?
Maybe just something crazy modified. You can find all kinds of crazy things at NOPI. Also, if it was a 950z, then it would have to have a 9.5L engine which it most likely does not.

East African Safari Classic Rally 2007
I would so LOVE to do this. I have always wanted a rally Z. Maybe when I get some $$ I can build one and enter some competitions and try to make it big time! Those Rally Z's are BADA$$!!!

Black Friday Sucks!
I hate Black Friday and never go out anymore. You can always find deals on the internet, but Cyber Monday has deals just as good as Black Friday.

parking lot war?
The photoshop was done very badly. Not just the chain part, but even the guy. I wonder how the heck that could have possibly have happened though.

Engine Bay with Triple Webers and Interior Shot...
Thats a sweet looking Z. I love the pin strips on white. Anything else that you have done to the car that we can't see? Sway bars, brake upgrades, ect? Also, what are the advantages of using air horns? I thought that all they do was to change the sound a bit?
-
Triple SU's?
Well, can triple SU's be done easily? Buy an SU for extremely cheap on ebay, and then a triple webber manifold? Or might you have to make your own manifold. Might even be able to do some mods to a current one? If the SU's can already be tuned for really good performance, I think that it would be cool and much cheaper just to buy an SU and get a manifold instead of having to spend $1,000+ on a triple carb kit.

Injection and Supercharge 240K GL coupe.
Why not just a SR20DET Clip for $1,800? You have everything you need, easy and cheap power, and all you have after this is to pay for labor of the swap.

Timing Chain Question
I know for timing chains, you don't need to worry about those. Now, if it was a belt, that is a different story.

happy thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is awesome and we had all better give thanks!!! Save drivings out there. I know that I-75 is like playing a fiddle with the devil. Drive safe for all those traveling, and drive your biggest rigs too! Need to be more of the boss of the roads during these times.
