Aside from Zs, what else takes your money?
240z makes up about 80% of my money Though there is also -gas (currently $2.90 for 87) -computers (build them) -school (getting my Generals this semester!!!) -Girlfriend of 3 years as of Nov. 19th. -1992 Chevy S10 (thinking about a Vortec swap when my 240 arrives) I'm not much for spending money. Just give me my Z, my wallet, cell phone, and a cigar box full of memories, and I will be just fine livin'. When I get a job next year, I am going to be putting at least 20% of my money earned on each paycheck (hopefully more) in some kind of investment. Practicing right now but probably mutual funds. I figure since I don't have many expenses right now, to save my money and let it work for me so that I will have money when expenses do arise. (school, kids, house, car, health, ect.)

Speaker Box Blue Prints
Well, I have been thinking how I am going to hook up a decent sound system in the Z. I figured 2 speakers in the back where they go, and then two speakers right behind the seats where those storage bins are. Then my bass would go were the spare tire goes with the amps behind the seats. Though, does anyone know if someone has created a box to hold a sub in the wheel well? I would need to draw up my own blue prints, but if someone else has already done it I could just steal theirs. Anyone know of someone who has done this and has pictures or prints online?

What kind of fuel economy could be expected from this 2L?
-
Rb20det
Unless a L24 with electronic ignition, cam, exhaust, and tuned SU's can get to the 200hp mark, I might just stick with the L24. Always thought about stroking it, porting it and triple carbs but that stuff is expensive with a minimal payoff. Still could do that just to be different.

I have never seen an L28ET for sale. If I could find one of these, then yeah I would get that instead. For HP range, I was just wanting to drop to at least roughly 6 seconds. I know that if I go turbo, there is the possibilities for me, but 6 seconds should be good. Though with 215hp, that would be 11lbs per hp, which is what a Mustang GT has and does 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds. So I would imagine that a 215hp 240z would pull pretty close to that.

Well, the speed bug is getting me and I am debating on getting a motor swap. What kind of 0 to 60 could I see with 215hp from the 2L turbo? Fuel economy? I was thinking maybe a V8, but even in 2300lbs, it still wouldn't be that great I don' think. Does anyone know how responsive is the turbo on this motor and if there are any reliability issues? I know that hybridz would be the better place, but I hate that site and have already asked. Now seeing if anyone here might possibly know. I was thinking about pimping out my L24, but the cost to benefit ratio is extremely ridiculous compared to just getting a $1,500 clip that will have more power then an L24 and has more potential. Might wait awhile to do this though. I was thinking about doing my engine stuff first, but I think that I am going to get my interior fixed up and a new paint job before I get into the engine stuff, so hopefully the speed bug will have passed by then.

She's gotta go :(
Yeah, it does have to be hard with kids. Half of my family have kids 10 and younger right now and I see them have to make sacrifices all the time. Though for being a manager, as long as you work in a right to work state, you don't have to tell them and can just not show up to work if you get a better job or your money situation is settled. Apparently WA isn't, so maybe a two week notice?
-
She's gotta go :(
Maybe you can get some Manager spot. The place that I worked at, Assitant General Managers came and went all the time. They got $26k to $28k on salary, so maybe you could try the same? Look for a fast food joint needs an AMG as they will hire just about anyone for this.

She's gotta go :(
Work at Taco Bell or something instead!!! I would rather go through a working time in a fast food joint then to have to sell her off. End of the year is only two payments. I would rather suffer through a job for two months, then to suffer having to sellthe Z, only to spend the $$ to find another one and putting even more $$ and work into getting it the way you want. If you apply for a few restaurants, you can have a job by Friday maximum. People come and go so fast in these places, that they are always looking for employees.

Suspension Techniques springs
Then what kind of springs are there that will not lower the ride height? I don't know of any that will not lower the ride height. I was mainly looking at getting a set of Eibachs. Have seen a few people run Eibachs and KYBs that seem to like them. Just saw this deal though on ebay and was just curious as if they would be able to save me a few $$ or not.

Suspension Techniques springs
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260179154089&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123 Would these fit a 1971 240 with KYB-GR2 struts? I emailed the guy and he said that he thinks it is only for 260/280's from 1974.5 to 1978.

New to the forum and new to my 240z
I think that you will be lucky to brake even. Even if you stock restore it, or upgrade everything, or even drop a any kind of motor in it, I think that you will be lucky to brake even. Even with your own Car Shop, you might be able to save labor hours with having all the tools you need, but with parts and how cheap even 100% awesome looking cars sell for, you shouldn't get much out of it. Maybe if you take it to NOPI and start winning, then you might get a pretty penny offer. This is just my opinion, but seems to hold true with current prices of Z cars.

Brake rotors?
Meant that I am going to keep the pads until they are worn until I get some high quality ones. Money isn't really an issue, but is an extra $100 worth the slotted rotors? If it isn't going to benefit me, I can use that $100 elsewhere.
-
Brake rotors?
I have the Toyota 4x4 Calipers non-vented. Going to use the calipers that came with them, and when they are worn I am going to upgrade to some really nice ones. Though, to the rotors. Powerslot Slotted rotors for $174 or OEM for some $70 Looks are not an issue, cant see them with my 19 spokes. I live in windy areas, and might do tracks every now and then if I get in a club but it is going to be a daily driver, so mostly school and work.

Out of Paint Jail!
What color is that? That is exactly the color that I want my Z to have, and with those stripes. Same front also. I'll try not to copy you too much [blush]

Tire Size Calculator !
I recently got 195x70/R14's. I wanted to go higher like 205, 215, or 225 but I heard that you can scrap your tires up front when turning. I didn't like that at all. I could have gone wider in the rear, but I couldn't find a good performance tire that was the same make/model for both sizes. I would have had different sets of tires and I do not like that idea one bit. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR+H4&vehicleSearch=false&partnum=97HR4HTRH4&fromCompare1=yes&place=8 So I bought 4 of these.

i'm addicted...
I always find myself looking around for really anything Datsun. Truck, roadster, 4-door, Z, whatever. I just want more! Even an 80's 300zx. I try justifying the purpose of more than one, but it is hard to truly convince myself. Maybe a truck or 4-door when my S10 dies? Drop an SR in there and I just be good.

How often do you see 240-Z's on the road?
Last year I saw 8 different ones around town, though this year I have only seen 2. Some guy owns it at the BMW dealership, 280zx, and the other guy I chatted with in the Autozone parking lot who has a 280z. He had dropped a 350 in there, done several other things to it and it sounded really nice. I am not sure if the guy is still around, but there was the black dude who owned a black and orange 280z. Surprisingly I never seen any 90's 300zx. There is only one that I know of that goes to the same college I go to. Only see it in the parking lot, though it is an N/A auto. This past summer I saw an 80's 300zx Turbo putting around downtown that was pretty neat. They are my next favorite Z's and have been thinking about getting one as a project car and then selling it after it is fixed up.

They found my stolen Z!!!
Can't insurance cover any of this? Report it to the insurance, give them proof and make them pay for what was stolen, and all the transportation fees.

need help identifying a motor
remember, 4 cylinder Inline-4 pickup truck. Should really narrow down the possibilities.

Im stuck in a pickle, need help
Thats not a bad price I guess. When I get the car back to TN, at least it will be much much easier for me to get the title here in TN. Don't really care the cost in $$ atm as long as I get my car. Even after the moneys that I give to the governments and transportation costs I still got a steal on the car. When I get back to TN I am going to end up paying no more then $50 for everything to get my car legally on the road so it will all be good. $130 out in Cali isn't all that bad for how bad this needs to get fixed. Does the Bill of Sale tax count here or not? Or do I basically just pay for the temp tag. All that doesn't really matter though, because I at least know that I am 100% good to get a temp and able to get my car registered out here in TN.

New pix of the car after oodles of work
Wow, that looks beautiful. How much pressure you running to the motor?

Bull Guard
That Nissan one is alright looking. Wonder what it would look like if I tacked on U-shaped pipe. The next one is extremely ghetto looking. Is there a place that I could find those rear bumpers that have the slim bar on top for looks? Not even sure what kind of bumper it is called if it is called something different.

Im stuck in a pickle, need help
http://www.tailofthedragon.com/index.html I think it is the windiest road in North America. Some 318 corners in 11 miles of road. All kinds of cars from the daily minivan to the most exotic cars come to travel this road. Even professional racers from around the world have hit this road up from time to time. The Cherohala Skyway is right there too and it is freaking awesome. I have been down that road before and it is just lovely. Basically this junk is located on the south side of the Great Smokey Mountains mostly on the North Carolina side.
