New pix of the car after oodles of work
Wow, she looks amazing and so clean. Your Z has always been one of my favorites on here with with the paint job that you got!! What all do you do and how far did it set you back? What kind of power are you running through that turbo and it that still a stock unit?

They found my stolen Z!!!
Wow, that is awesome. I wonder how they got it? You know how they got it? Caught the guy, already sold it, or was it just sitting somewhere. Hope your luck holds out and everything is a'ok inside and out. Now time for you to get a GPS thingie. Be able to get the last laugh next time!

Im stuck in a pickle, need help
Thank you guys for all your help, and for you to ask questions for me at the DMV AndysPlit. Seems like everything will be a'ok. Was getting my nerves running for awhile not knowing what I was going to do. Now all that I have left is to get a loan for roughly $1,000 from my parents hopefully and California will be a green light for this January! I have started to have dreams about this, and so can not wait to get my Z home. Will be driving her everywhere even on pointless trips around the town. When I get her, might even go up to The Tail of The Dragon the fallowing weekend or something. Its been a while since I have been on that path and would love to give it a drive.

Bull Guard
I think that I have seen a bull guard on a Z before and it looked pretty cool. Then I started thinking that I might like one on my Z. It reminds of a Rally Z car, which I am really into and wouldn't mind having as a future project. Does anyone had any skills in Photoshop and has some spare time on their hands to take this bull guard http://www.ustruckaccessorieswhse.com/westin_ultimate_bull_bar.jpg and paste it onto a 240z? If it looks good on the Z, I might even put one on my current Z.

The New FX37 & FX50
2010 seems to be the redesign and introduction of the M37 & M50. I really like the direction that Nissan and Infiniti have been moving. Hope to see some more great productions from them. The one thing that I would extremely love though is for the Z car to look like nothing else on their line of cars. Its supposed to be different and look like like every other car Nissan has.

And how much would that set one back?

The New FX37 & FX50
The FX37 gets bumped up to 300 horsepower. The FX50 comes with 390 horsepower and 369 lb.ft of torque. This sold me more than anything. I would guess that if the weight doesn't change that much, this thing must be quick. 1) Slow moving traffic cruise control. The car can slow down and speed up based on the car in front of you. 2) The mirrors would move if you moved the seat. So I guess if you're on a long drive and occasionally change your seat position, the mirrors would auto adjust with you. 3) This was the coolest. It was the rear-view camera taken to the next level. There were cameras in front of the car and behind it. On your Nav screen, it would show an outline of the car (as if looking down from the sky) and would paste the images around the car, so you'd have an almost 360 degree view of what was around you. Wonder if this 5L V8 is going to be apart of a new line of V8 engines. Way more powerful then their VK engines. Guess that the M series of Infiniti will go the same route. What what Nissan will get.

Im stuck in a pickle, need help
What exactly does that mean? I have a pink title slip with California all over it, so would it still be registered under the original owner? Tomorrow I hope that the lines are small, because I am going to drop by the DMV and see if I can get the thing registered here in my state. Going to fill out all the required forms and see what they tell me. I know some people in Georgia, so I might just get the damned thing registered in Georgia. Then a year later get it registered in TN. Make this own damn process easier.

Im stuck in a pickle, need help
Hmm..... I will fill those papers out this week and try to hit up my DMV to see if they will take it. Don't want to pay those CA fees and taxes. Also, good think you reminded me about it now so that I can get it on the list. I was planning on taking the insurance off my S10 a couple days before I left and transfered over to the Datsun, so I will also have some cards printed out in hand.

Could Be A Worthy Investment

Im stuck in a pickle, need help
PRINTED *Thanks* Would that make me get a CA title on the car, or would they give me something different, so when I come to TN it will be quick, easy and cheap? I really don't want to have to pay CA taxes and fees, and then have to come back and pay them again in TN. If I have to though, I got to do what I got to do to get my car out this way. This part has been extremely frustrating, but at least I know that I will be back with my precious extremely soon. :devious: Could I fill those forms out and just take it to a TN DMV and have them give me the Tags and Title with my name on it before I even get on the plane?

Im stuck in a pickle, need help
That would be great if you can. Would be very much appreciated. Basically, the title the seller gave me, he filled it out but never registered it under his name, so his junk is still on the back where I am supposed to sign. So I need to track him down, (5 hours or so away) and get him to do his end of the work. It will take awhile for him to get the new title with his name on the front in the mail to send to me, so I can finish getting it filled out with my information and registered in TN. So I would need to drive the car over to TN. If they say I can putt around in CA but not other states, I may still use the red tag thing to go into other states. I'm sure that the cops would understand and wouldn't even want to bother figuring it out if what I am doing is legal or not as I would imagine that they would have to look up CA codes. Plus I am going to try to see if I can pick me up a TN temp. tag to take with me to CA, so I could always use that if it would be safer out of state.

Im stuck in a pickle, need help
Basically, what I need to know is does California have temporary titles for cars that I can get. I have having a little trouble with my title here in TN, so when I go out to CA I need to drive my Z around to track down the previous owner, and to go to government builds (DMV) but need a plate of some kind on the back so that it won't be illegal. Also need it there for my drive back to TN so that I can get it registered here. I have looked all over CA DMV site but can not find anything like this. I found one on the TN DMV site. I called them and they said that the car has to be located in TN for me to get one, but I still might be able to get one from here at least because I doubt that they will ask to see the car as that is not on the requirements list.

Brakes
There are rear disc conversions which takes parts from a handful of different vehicles and throws them in the back. The Z Store has the cheap ones for $350 without 4 SS brake lines or rotors, but if you wait for one to come around on ebay, for the same price you get the rotors, calipers, pads and 4 brake lines. Then you have to get some performance 240z rotors up front and upgrade to the 1984 Toyota 4x4 Calipers. There are non-vented and then the more expensive Vented calipers. I got mine brand new for a steal on ebay. For front rotors I would go with just some slotted rotors. They give you more braking surface then cross-drilled rotors and are able to still help keep the brakes cooler just like the cross-drilled. In the rear, I would just go with whatever the kit gives you and then just replace them with oem rotors when it is time. The car is so light, and the upgraded braking power is so huge, that it is just a waste of money on high dollared rotors. Then just get your brake cylinders and salvo replaced under the hood if you have extra cash.

3 into 2 MSA header
Going to bring up an old thread to make a question. Now what is better? 3 to 2 or 6 to 1? Do they both give basically the same performance increase, but have different sounds? Are there sound clips somewhere for the 3 to 2 and the 6 to 1 so that people could choose which sound they like better?

Z Stolen this Morning in LA County, CA
Man, this is the second one in a short time down there. Why would people steal Z's? For what these things are worth, I really wouldn't risk getting caught for grand theft auto. It seems like you guys really need to put GPS chips into your rides down there. I don't think that they are a lot of money, and can help you catch these people. Get to have the last laugh. I like what GM and BMW have done with their OnStar and whatever BMW calls theirs. Was watching on TV with a GM with OnStar. They set up a trap. Left the windows down and the keys in the car. Didn't have to wait longer before the car was stolen. They had a camera in the dash, and shortly after he started going, the people from OnStar took control of the car, shut it off, and locked the doors. The guys reactions were priceless. I know that they at least have GPS systems that you can install for pretty cheap and I am sure that you can find some kind of remote shutoff device for not that much either. Should be a really good investment no matter the cost. Sry for your loss, and I hope that you get the baby back.

Xbox360
The only racing game that I can play is Burnout. :nervous: If I try to play any real racing simulations, I suck a$$. At least it doesn't resemble my real driving capabilities. :devious:

Looking For A 280Z
If you wouldn't mind paying shipping charges to where you live, people here never mind looking at rigs if you find one around someone from the forums. That is always a possibility.

z car purgatory (or hell) in Raleigh NC
Man, I would love to pull some parts out of those, rebuild and sell. Tranny, motor, diff, and whatever else. I wish those were located here where I live.

The Z Shop?
SNAP!!!! I have been looking for something like this around here forever! This next week I am totally going to drive up there and check that place out. I found a Z shop literally 2 miles from my house and when I called, he had just gotten out of the business. Only had 4 cars left out of 75 that he used to have. Still could do some stuff locally. Wouldn't make a living out of it, but I am going to school 3 days a week, and wouldn't mind having a hobby/job during the other 2 days of the week. Make enough for gas and I would be plenty happy.

Looking For A 280Z
For completely restored Z's those prices are along the right lines. Though, I would also look for 240z, and even 280zx Turbo Z's :devious:

need input quick: 5 speed tranny
As far as I know, only the L series trannies will work, though I don't know as much as some of these other guys know. I would keep an eye out for a 1980zx 5-speed. This is what I am keeping an eye out for and a r200 4.11 diff to go along with it. If you do get a new tranny, and haven't already swapped the diff out, you might also want to do that.

The Z Shop?
Any have a Z shop were you part out old unsalvagable Z's and rebuilt what you can to sell? I am thinking of starting a small shop and doing this. If I spot a el cheapo Z to snatch it up, sell what I can and rebuilt what I can and sell it. Any advice? Would this be worth it and turn me a decent profit?

Cars of the future
Those Japs sure do come out with some crazy ideas. GT-R looks great though. Caranddriver lists the price at $85,000. I am happy that they went well above what Lexus and BMW have done for the M3/M5, and IS-F. Beats them in all aspects. Just wish that the price could be a touch lower. Though, I wouldn't be surprised that there will be tons of features available for the Lexus and BMW that will jack the price up to the GT-R. Man, I wish that I had some killer money making skills right now because I know that I would be car shopping with all the great cars that are about to come out this winter and early spring.
