http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/infiniti_g37.asp Not much of an increase as I was expecting. Basically no difference in torque, and now only 24hp more compared to the new VQ35HR that is found in the new 350z / G35. Supposed to have better fuel economy and emissions. I just hope that it isn't like 1mpg average difference. I don't really get the shift from the 3.5L to the 3.7L when the new 3.5L is only 24hp shy of the 3.7L and the 3.7L offers no torque gains of any kind. I wonder what is going on inside of Nissan. So, does this mean that a 370z is around the corner? I honestly hope not unless the 370z is lighter and a little nicer looking. Plus is the new Skyline a go? This 3.7L is supposed to push 480hp in that ride, and the concepts do look pretty hot. I just wish that Nissan went back to the Inline-6 with their Z series, but I will be a little bit more happy when they eventually work their way up to a V8 motor.
  2. Once you get some pics, you are going to have to throw them up here. Anything done to this 240z or is it all stock or mostly stock still? What do you have planned for your baby so far?
  3. 18 years old. First got my Z at 17.

I have always wanted a 280zx 2+2 w/ T-Tops as a daily driver. Have it my Luxery ride with A/C and all the other little goodies that it has and that I would add. Plus have it automatic too. Love the manual, but an Auto is nice from time to time. Would be nice to even drop the 3800 Series II supercharged motor in there with the 4-Speed Auto to get it a little more power for driving through traffic if I don't want the L28ET intercooled instead. Then have my 240z as my weekend ride.
  5. I just used some good old Castrol GTX 10w30 in my 240z. I have heard that Chevron heavy duty 15w40 is some really good stuff. My bro knows a mechanic that uses that stuff in all his rigs and says that is some of the best stuff you can get. Can't remember the exact kind though.

If you do replace it, should look at the cost/benefit ratio between that and getting a R200 swap.
  7. I could have sworn that I have seen a Limited-Slip for the 240z or the Z series just in general. So, is there a limited-slip differential for my Z? Or did I read it wrong and the R180 and R200 are already limited-slip differentials? Or there aren't any at all?
  8. $625 with very little rust and purred like a dream. Some 97,000 miles on it, with 5,000 miles on a engine/tranny rebuild that happened a few years ago. Have put in $250 under the hood, and $100 for the rear hatch window. That is it so far. Saving up for brakes, the whole ignition setup, suspension, springs, tires, and a few other small things to finish off the exterior. Looking at spending between $1500 and $2000 for all this. After that, it is then interior, paint, then after all that the modifications that I want done to make her a better car.

I was talking to a guy that owns a 1989 Supra with a 1JZ. He was talking to me about maybe getting a lighter driveshaft. He said that they are about 11lbs lighter, and it would be like taking 200lbs off the car as the motor has less mass to rotate for the power to get to the wheels. Is there anything like this out for a 240z? A lighter, stronger driveshaft then what is currently out there?

If I had the money, I would totally take the Veyron. It is built like a super car just like that Skyline, but then the Veyron is also very luxurious, which you don't get in the Skyline. Skyline looks to be a one seater, w/ roll bars everywhere. Not a daily driver. Plus I wouldn't be surprised to see the entire car start falling a part after a few times in the 200+ mph range. On Top Gear, they took the Veyron to its top speed, and the car was barely even shacking at all. Its also sorta funny that the Skyline is 2,200lbs lighter yet is still even slower 0 to 60 against the Veyron.
  11. Well, umm... I have been hearing a lot lately about people doing a rear disc conversion in their 240z with the drums. I am wondering if I should be looking into them myself. Will they give any advantage over the drums? Increase daily driving stopping power? How about when racing? I need to change out my brakes all around here soon, so would it be much more to do this conversion then it would to be to replace both back drums?
  12. Don't forget to check under the floor pans too. I ended up getting a spot there, and it looks like someone tried to fix it unsuccessfully, but I might be able to fix it without having to get an entire new floor pan. Also I hear the gas tanks are supposed to get pretty rusty on the inside, so either a good cleaning or a new one would be in order. Other then what the others have said, I can't really think of anything else myself. Recently bought a 240z myself, a California car its whole life, and I would have to say is in excellent condition. Though still needs a lot of money put into it.
  13. I had thought that the L24 could only go up to a 2.7L stroker? Thought that you need to have the L28 to reach the 3L+ mark.

Sweet little car you got there. What do you got planned out for her?

Well, as I am planning on flying out to California and living my life out there, I need to make my little baby road ready and safe until I get my current ride out there later, or just something newer. I got a list of things that I am going to do before it is all ready. Some additional input would be nice. Cars 36 years old, and there might be stuff that works but might need to be replaced, and if there are some recommended parts that I should get instead. Halogen Headlights Fuel Pump gasket K&N Air Filter Steering boots Brakes (front and rear) *are there any over sized or cross-drilled dsic brakes that might be a better buy then whatever autozone has? Would like the car to stop on a dime* License plate lamp rubber strips for bumper tires 195/70 Ignitor Rubber radio antenna Flame Thrower Coil Illumina Struts all round ST Sporttech springs all round Front 240z Fender Emblems Wipers NGK Wires Then I have recently found out about a MSD GAL and a MSD tach adapter. I was told that they might be good to get, but not really sure what they are. Also, my tach has a problem right now. It goes up to like 3,000rpm and wont go up any higher, even though the motor still is revving higher, but once it goes up, it wont come back down without tapping on the protective cover. Would the MSD tach adapter maybe fix this, or could it most likely be a hose issue? And so far, I have done some rough pricing, but does $1800 sound about right for all that? Some of the stuff I might end up pulling off ebay to save a bit on money.

Would you ever swap your Z car for anything else? If your Z car isn't even finished, just imagine it being all fixed up the way you want it, would you swap your Z car in for anything else or keep it. No cheating either. None of that, "yeah I will and sell that to get 500 Z cars." For me, it is a tough decision on the 510cu SRT10. I don't think that I would for the 505ci SRT10, but maybe for the 510cu SRT10. If the Challenger is going to be somewhat limited with maybe the 6.4L Hemi in there, I think that I would swap in my 240z for a new 2008 Challenger top model. Those are the only two cars that I would actually have to sit and think about it. Everything else I could say no to easily. What about you guys. Is there another car out there that would have the possibilities of you saying good-bye to your Z car?

Well I know that the power starts dropping off, I am just curious to know how much it ends up dropping off from the peak numbers.
  18. Sooo.... Ummmm..... Whats the point of an 8 lane highway if no one uses it? Wish we had that going on over here in the states. :devious: Nice video!!!
  19. I want to go!!! Just a nice 2hr drive for me. Do I have to have my Z car to be able to go, or can I still fill out the form and go?

Should be able to use a boost controller on the L28ET. With some work, these motors can push some big numbers. Stock is like 180hp w/ 6psi without an intercooler. Though with an intercooler, the stock turbos are good for 16psi and I think that the stock motor can handle that just fine. You could also get the L28ET stroked to 3.0L or 3.2L if you wanted. That is one route that can be done, that is an easy swap and wont make you have to start putting holes in your frame. Though some other popular swaps are LS, RB, and SR swaps. hybridz.org is going to be the place for you. Just make sure that you do your research over there on topics before you post, as the people over there get all pissy if you post about something that has already been posted about.

Well, the rpm limit is all the way at 7,000rpm but gets its peak hp way down at 5,600rpm. Usually you don't see a large gap like that between the rpm limit and were peak hp is located. Usually after the peak hp, there is only a few hundred rpm left before you hit redline, and even in some cases the redline IS were you will find your peak hp at. I am curious to know if anyone can tell me or has a dyno of a stock L24 all the way to redline. I have been wondering for the past few days what the powerband looks like (both hp and torque) once you past their peak output and continue pushing near 7,000rpm. I have been told that you need not to past 6,000rpm as you already got all your power, but I want to know what happens all the way up to 7,000rpm.

Yeah, that is what I am wanting to get. The R200 3.90 and a ZX 5-Speed. After I get the interior, and exterior finished, I am thinking of just taking the car to Rebello to get it stroked, triple carb, 5-speed and the r200 installed all at the same time. I could and would love to do all this work, but stroking it isnt something that I want to do, so I might just have Rebello do the rest while they are already under the hood.

Which ever these rims are is what I got. I need to take them off and get them pressure washed. Because of the California air right there on the beach, they have oxidized a little bit. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a42/red_dog007/California%2007/?action=view&current=DSC_0086.jpg Currently has 195/75 and I am going to get some new 195/70's for it sometime soon.
