OT: Toyota Century pics (no 56k)
That is a very nice looking car. Price and what size/power is the engine? I can see it already, him getting mistaken for another guy in a drug deal or something and the reactions the attacker would have after he realizes that it isnt the right guy.

Diesel crank???
I think that I searched their forums really good, but I only found L28's with a diesel crank. Found nothing on L24's getting a diesel crank. Where would I be able to buy a LD28 diesel crank and then new pistons and con rods? I recently found a guy who lives 5 minutes from my house that does EVERYTHING zcar, so I might ask him to see if he has want I am looking for and maybe even a 5-speed tranny.

Diesel crank???
I hear a lot about a diesel crank for N/A motors and it increasing the engines displacement. Is this thing just for L28 n/a motors, or could I look into this for a L24 motor? Also, even if just for the L28 motor, other then displacement increase (any noticable HP gains?), what are the other added benefits of a diesel crank?

My 240z Project.
Glad to see that another Z will be coming back to life. Always nice for this to happen. :-) What engine do you plan on dropping in that thing? Keep the V8 that was in it? A lot of work cut out for you there, but once it is all done, it will be one sexy beast. :devious: I should do the same thing that you are doing with my Z, but with no money, I am going to wait till have several grand lying around to do this, as I would want to knock it out in a couple of months instead of waiting sometimes years like a lot of people seem to do. With no cancer rust found so far, I am not really worrying about it atm though.

L24 Carb limitations?
See, thats what I was wondering if I could get 200hp for cheap, but I guess not. Sorta figured that this engine had limitations unless you went all out on it. I think that I will do a little more research then. Triple carbs have always looked very tempting to me. Other then a kit that comes with everything, would I need to modify anything else to get not get a bottle neck from the carbs?

Whats this called exactly?
This isnt mine, just need a picture for an example and easy description. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=23386&cat=500&ppuser=11415 That filter there on top of the engine were the PCV valve is, what is that exactly called? Also, is there any advantage to replace the peice of tube that goes into the air box for the air intake with a filter like that? Also, if you do replace that piece of piping with a filter, do you need to plug the hole in the air box?

L24 Carb limitations?
With sticking with carbs on the L24, what can the performance be increased too? I know that if I picked up an L28E/T or EFI my 240, the possibilities are almost endless, but I dont want to do that and I am not sure much if any about carb limitations. I am wanting to get at least 200hp out of the engine as cheap as possible. I am also looking at one day getting triple 45/50mm carbs, but I have heard from some people that it makes little difference for the amount of money that you throw into them. I know that I could bore/stroke out the L24 to a 2.8L, and with some mods get a bit above 200hp, but I am still not sure if I wanna do that or not. What are sum recommondations from you guys to help me get to 200hp and one day 250hp. If I could get up to 250hp one day on the stock engine w/ carbs, I would be a happy camper. I have fianlly figured out that I do not want to do an engine swap. What I want to do is keep my 240z as stock as possible with it pushing atleast 200hp and more so 250hp. I know that it wont do much, but I am at least starting off with ngk plugs/wires and soon I am ordering an Ignitor II and a Flamethrower Coil. Also might be picking up an exhaust from a member here.

280z Turbo???
Stock was a little lower then what I thought it was, but the top end was right on the dot to what I thought it was with the addition of the intercooler. Thanks for that piece of info.

280z Turbo???
Well I have always been curious. How much psi is the stock 280z Turbo pushing and what is the maximum psi on the border line of danger for the stock turbo?

Found this 240z Convertible
That guy had to have chopped the top off and modify everything. Very cool idea, but its chassis has to be so much weaker now that it wouldn't be safe to sport around in it. Personally I don't think that it is worth it. If I wanted the air through my hair without just rolling down the windows, I would use that money to get a T-Top 280z.

What is wrong with the 350Z?
Oh, I was reading the roadster. 3,600lbs for the roadster. Still, the coupe is at 3,350lbs, 350lbs more then what I would like to see. I am getting all my numbers from www.nissanusa.com Nissan also says that the Auto is actually lighter then the manual by 2lbs in each model.

Vegas Baby
Cheapest I have seen so far. $700 instead of $900 to $1200 for shipping. This might change a few things for me now. Hmmm.......

What is wrong with the 350Z?
I like the 350z. If it wasnt for the Pontiac GTO, the 350z would be first on my $30k car list. Lots of body kits, lots of performance kits and still very nice completely stock. What I currently dont like about it is the V6 that they use in every other vehicle The weight of 3500lbs What I would like to see come back is An Inline-6 T-Tops closer to 3000lbs curb weight Though with the rumors of the 450z going around, it doesnt seem like anything that I would like to see will ever make it back into a Z car.

Vegas Baby
Hey! Where did you get your car shipped from and how much was it? I need to find a way to get my Z car to Tennessee and the only option atm is driving it, but I really dont want to drive it almost 3000 miles in just a few days. If I do end up driving it, I have to drive through LV, so maybe I could say hi or something. Would be pretty cool if I drop by as many as Z car owners that I can who are right a long the way home.

L28 horsepower?
With the stock engine, I think that 200hp is fairly obtainable, but 250hp is getting near the end and hard to get there. With the turbo L28, I think that 250hp is a little easier to get there, but still near the limits. Maybe if you take the L28 and make it a 3 to 3.2L with a turbo you might be able to get 300hp but will still be a pretty penny. This is just what I have picked up from all the research that I have been doing myself on modifying my L24 or just swapping engines. I have decided to just do some basics and get as close as I can to 200hp, though I would need a triple carb set to really make sure that I get 200hp. Though that will cost $1500 just for 50hp, and I had rather get an engine with that sorta money doubling my horsepower.

Members 240Z on front page of new X-Box game site
What sorta numbers were you pushing on the dyno? That is crazy. Once in a lifetime! Gotta love it. I love that sound clip though. I can just imagine that right now play the game, though I myself dont own it. When I get an x360, I am sure to pick up that game and unlock the Z car.

How long have you had your Z?
Its so crazy with many of you guys here having your original car for decades for even have multiple Z cars. I am 17 and recently bought my 71' 4-Speed 240Z in July of this year. I have been away from her all this time, but I am going back in the beginning of January to say hello and hopefully get her in driving condition to bring her back! I plan on keeping her for a long time!!! From what I know and from what my brother can tell, not much work needs to be put into the car as the previous owner did a lot of work himself before selling it. He mostly did exterior/engine bay so all I really need to do is the interior. Thats were 3/4 of my money is going currently. This has been my dream car for about 2 or 3 years now. I would have liked to buy my second dream car, my only other dream car, but that thing clocks in at $85,000 as it is a Dodge SRT10. The Z looks cooler anyways.

Z's on YouTube
Nice! :devious: I cant wait to get some of my own 240z clips on Youtube. You cant find many 240 through 280 clips let a lone without it having a V8 under the hood.

Trying to place an order at Black Dragon
Well, I already registered with them. Put in my email and password. Filled up the shopping cart with $83.75 worth of stuff. Then I clock on check out and takes me to a completly different looking webpage that has words in the corners about trucks. Also asks for my user name and password. I can sign in here, but then after that, I cant do or go anywhere. How the heck do I place an order here?

Exhaust Y or splitter
How far away is Spartanburg from there? I have family down that way, and I can talk to them and see if they would wanna pick it up for me. Or if I do down there for Thanksgiving or something, I might be able to pick them up. I will get back to you via PM a little later on.

My 240z against my buddies rides
Oh nice, 205's will fit! [devious] Over at tirerack they have some 205's and 195's sport tires for 70/R14's. Get pretty good ratings over there too. I wanted 75's in some sport tires but those they don't have. I think that only in 185's they got 75's, but I don't want 185's. 205's here I come!!!:classic:

My 240z against my buddies rides
Umm... Yeah, pretty much bone stock for now. Currently I am about to order 195/70 performance tires. I am going to see if I can fit 205's on there but I am not sure if I can. I am doubting that the stock rims can handle 30mm of extra tire. Though I will end up getting some little things here and there that mostly improve handling, with a few minor engine modifications, but that is all.
