Hey Carl, it is an RD-150. I was more amazed at how well perserved it was. Usually tires that old are cracked and dried out to some degree. I also got the door panels off the car as well. They are in excellent condition with no rips at all. Just the chrome strip is gone. It always amazes me when I find an old Z with so many great condition parts sitting in a junkyard. Even the tail lights looked brand new. Of coarse I took them too. Along with the round top SU's and manifold.

I was at the u-pull-it the other day and found an original spare tire from a 240Z on the steel rim. It is in excellent condition. Tire is not dried out or cracked. Is there any value in this? For now I will keep it as my spare or should I seal it up to preserve it's condition. Or are they a dime a dozen and I shouldn't worry about it at all.

Beware of George G. Robbins (aka: reddat)!!!
Hey Montezuma, the USPS also has a flat rate box (8 1/2 x 11 x 4) that costs only $8.10 no matter how much it weighs. I use it all the time.

This Z car's been abused....
What's with the "Road Warrior" bumpers, that's just too funny. The engine could be worth saving.

Question on MSA's Full Face Dash Cover
Just a installation tip. When I installed mine on my 280Z I used blankets and stuffed them between the windshield and dash. It really helped to mold the entire top of the new cover to the old dash. The softness of the blankets combined with pressure being applied equally and at all times really helps it to adhere to the old dash. Plus I could leave it under pressure for as long as I wanted.

Konig 17's Question
Not sure if MM makes the 4 to 5 lug conversion spacers, but you should be able to contact them to find out. Here is the website: http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/default.php

Konig 17's Question
I made a mistake. The rims you are talking about will need spacers. I was thinking of the two new rims that Konig makes for the early Z's. One comes in 15x7 and the other comes in 15x7 and 16x7. Both have a "0" offset. One is called the Maxxim 4 Play and the other is the Maxxim Screech. Sorry about that. Spacers are ok to use as well. Modern Motorsports makes a very good set.

Konig 17's Question
You should have no problem with the 17" rims. Konig makes their rims for the early Z's so that they are a direct bolt on. That is the reason they only make a 7" width. But make sure to use the right tire with that size rim.

'71 in Albuquerque
vercingetorix, the car is at the u-pull-it on South Broadway. Take the Rio Bravo exit (just south of the Sunport exit) on I-25. Head east and turn south on Broadway (1st light). Go about 1 mile and it will be on your left. I saw it on Tuesday. The drive train is gone, but there is still a lot of sheetmetal. I took some smaller things like the gas cap, fuse box and lid and console lid plus other small items. Paid $10.00 for all. There is also another 72 240Z sitting there. Not in great shape but still somethings on it worth taking. The Z mentioned in this post is in the third to last row of the import section. The other 240 is in about the 5th row (guessing) from the front.

2007 Z Car Convention in Daytona
Hi Ken, why is there only 100 spots for the car show? Is it due to space constraints. Or is it 100 spots for the ZCCA judging and then there will be a seperate section for people's choice. With Florida having a large number of Z's, I would think that 100 spots will fill quickly. And that doesn't include the close proximity of the Georgia and North Carolina Clubs that should show up in good numbers. Just courious. I will give you a call to talk about the convention later this week. Art PS: Mr. K has passed the torch of Z Ambassador to his good friend and past co-worker Masataka Usami. If I'm not mistaken, he lives here in the US.

Z car magazines
Fun_in_my_z, it's your lucky day. PM me your mailing address and I will send you that free issue. Plus I will have some new news on the "wheel" front for early Z's. There will be two new styles coming out: 14" and 15" with "0" offset. Might not be everybody's (I like them, but I'm easy to please) cup of tea but at least there will be more choices. And sorry, it won't be in the issue I'm sending you. It will be in the Winter issue. I'm sure someone with a sub on this forum will read it and pass it on to you all.

1970 240Z in Moriarity, NM
He'll have a hard time selling it for parts as well. The sheetmetal is subpar (for this area). The interior is shot. The glass might be clean, but you can get that at the u-pull-it for almost nothing. The wheels are nothing special. The only thing of real value is the SU's and the bumpers (if they are in good condition). And maybe the gas tank and hood have some value. It would cost quite a few bucks to get that car back into decent shape and to start out 1k in the hole just doesn't make sense to me. Something tells me he will settle for less once he finds out that he will never get the 1k he is asking for it.

1970 240Z in Moriarity, NM
That Z seems to be over priced for this area. A lot of surface rust for a NM car. Some of my Z's have sat outside for years and never looked like that. Where are the bumpers? 1K for a non-running Z in NM is $500.00 too much unless the vin number was super low and the car was completely in tact (bumper to bumper). With that much neglect, I'll bet the dry rot on all the rubber is through the roof.
