    how hard is it?

Try an internet search for" Black Dragon parts", they have just about everything.
  3. Looks like a fun project to me. I'd be interested in more build photos. One thing that has occurred to me when seeing these builds is that it would have been cheeper to just buy a Corvette but thats not it is it? I've heard a Dodge 318/360 is also an easy install. Good luck with your fun project

I recently had the same condition with my 73 240, I corrected it with new power valves, needle and seat, cleaning.
  5. is anyone useing other than the stock fan in their Z I'm thinking of converting to a single or double electric fan set up for desert driving. Any thoughts?

My plan is just street driving, road tours and the like. I wish there was some way to add more side protection. heres a picture of the cage in my 55 Chrysler race car, what I would really like to have in the Z but way to heavy and no room.

I am thinking of building a roll bar for my 240 z because of the space limitations a cage seems out of the question any ideas or photos.
  8. You are correct sir. I replaced both power valves needle and seat and bingo, problem solved. Because of the difficulty and time involved I would recommend doing both at the same time, if one went bad the other can't be far behind.
  9. I replaced the old mechanical pump, removed the carbs and gave them a good cleaning, there was cristalline goo in the float chambers and inlet screen, after reassembling and installation it ran fine, now the problem is the front 3 cylinders (plugs) appear to be running rich, the rear three look perfect, where did I go wrong?
  10. Nissanman Thanks for the help. I removed the carbs and gave them a good scrubbing with carb cleaner and that seems to have worked. I admit I was intimidated by the Hitachis, there was a bit of crystaline goo in the float chambers and inlet screen and a small amount of rust on the float rods. I don't believe these carbs have ever been off. thanks man!
  11. at some time the previous owner disconnected the mechanical fuel pump and had it running on the electric pump only and it ran fine like that. Although there is fuel pressure it seems weak. The car will not start except with starting fluid and will not continue to run on its own. I have repalced the electric fuel pump with no solution. There is fuel to the carbs but it doesen't seem to get beyond that point. any ideas?

I changed fuel pump/filter, drained tank, changed fuel, checked points cap etc. gets spark to plug, fuel flows to carbs, will start with starting fluid, but will not continue to run, today cleaned the bells and seems to start a little easier with start fluid, but still won't run, any ideas? the redneck 4 bbl conversion is starting to look like a smart move.
