thanks again all. I think I can get this together now. I wasn’t intending to "Hi-jack the thread " I was merely staying on a pre created subject ,without having to create a new thread when one already existed. am I bad,,,,, oops

well, thanks these are all great suggestions. as far as money, and or time. I am 38 years old, and have a lot of time ahead of me, and for money, well, there I am not as well off as I am in age. I would only need the por, or other product t cover the exterior of the hood, and both doors. doesn’t sound like a lot of change $$ to me. back to my other question, say that 65% of the hood is surface rusted, should i sand off 100 5 of the paint, and por the whole thing? or is it better to leave what is good, and fix what is bad? it may all end up rusting if I don’t do the whole thing now. I would rather do it all once than 1/2 now, and 1/2 in a few years from now. but, I am open to other peoples trial and errors. I want to learn from you alls mistakes, and I hope you can learn from mine. thanks, from NY.

some one told me not to do the whole car with these things. I have rust (surface) on the hood and a tad on both doors. I already used a palm sander, and took off the rust from these sections. should I take off all the paint, even if it is not rusty, or am I just creating more rust opportunities? and can I put POR on these surfaces first, then top coat with the desired paint color? or is there a better way to do this. I cant sand blast for $ reasons. thanks
  5. I am not sure about the availability of parts there either, I am in the USA, and work in a place here with primarily Swiss German, and Austrian people, so If you really need some parts, I can try to buy them, and maybe ship em to you. I am usually quite busy, and it may take a while to do, but we could try if you need. I know some online part centers only ship domestically here in the United States.
  6. maybe he could implement radio control to the car to race it around,

  10. well, I wasn’t in on the thread from the past, but I am keeping track, and I have spent $800 on the car , about $200 in parts, and the real pain is this small tab that has just crept up on me, the storage of this fine machine, lets say like this , $50 per month multiply by 120 months, (10 years) is eeekkksss!!!!!! $6,000.00 just in storage, hfs!!! i got to build my own garage, or could have by now....

  13. when i was a z bewbie, I had 2 of them , a 71 ,and a 72. I took a few aftermarket, non stock parts off the older one, and put em on the newer one, and sold off the older one. and almost laughed a bit to myselfe as the guy drove off, and now,i wish i had kept the orig. parts, and actually the other car, it was nicer, but i was not so knowing at the time, i even threw out , oops, did i say that / ?? some decent parts but that was ten years ago, and then i got married in 7-14 also

  15. I am in the process right now, and was thinking of media blasting, but, now I like bean dips point that if you are sanding, you can save alot of work by not taking the whole car down to bare metal, just where you need to, plus I don’t have a sandblaster, I will use a stripper on my hood, so the hood is nice and smooth, I have patchy surface rust on the hood, and doors. I was using a palm sander with a 4 inch square sheet, and it is working great, not too fast, nor too slow, like when I was sanding by hand

cool job, in regards to sandblasting, is it better to invest in a sandblasting machine?? and do the job ones self?? or is it real costly to if you go to bring it to some guy, and have him do it for you, OR, (3) is it almost as good, by doing a 98% sand job on the rust in this area, and in any case, after rust removal, would it be better under the car to put a rubberized undercoating spray, or , to do a primer , and paint. just a few bridges i will have to decide on someday
