In Car Video from Nashville Superspeedway
Hi Paul! Back in 89 throu 93 when I started I had a great time meeting a bunch of people with the same hobby per say. That changed when I decided to change from racing a 240z to racing a family. Now I'm slowly gonna get back to it I miss the racing atmosphere specially the Datsun friends. I've heard alot of good things about Barber, some day I'll make it there and Road Atlanta. For now just want to do Daytona a few times then start expanding. Looking forward to meeting you all in person Thanks Pablo

In Car Video from Nashville Superspeedway
Hi Greg! Congrats on the RevTech victory at Daytona You guys did a great job. I almost made it there. Too many things came up at last minutes. Would of been great watching the two z's beat the competition. Even if I would of been in back of the pack. Planning on been at Daytona in August, Like I mention to Paul earlier on I found a set of 350lbs springs to fit my car should be here by the weekend. I'll put the up frt. see how it works. then swapp them for Sunday and see.

In Car Video from Nashville Superspeedway
Hi Paul! I call ground control this morning, ck'd with them and they still say on a 240z to keep the heavyer springs to the back. I guess once you are in the ballpark is up to the driver how comfortable he feels with the set-up. I'm going to keep my the way they are now I'm just looking for seat time and keep my eyes open if I could find a set 300 to 350 lbs then i'll put them up frt and see. Good luck

Nice video Paul! Thanks for sharing. You just opened-up a question I asked a while back.Sounds like we have about the same suspension, I got my coil overs from ground control back in 93 did like two more races then parked it. They told me to put the 250 springs in front and the 275 in the rear? I always question that. I've asked other suspension guys about the heavier spring in the rear and they went along with ground controls instructions. The car handles great, but now you mention you have the heavy springs up frt. is this correct? In your new suspension will you be going much heavier springs? I heard of 944's out west with 400lbs up frt and thick torsion bars in rear?. I'm getting ready to go to Daytona next month Still have time to swap the springs around maybe

In-Car Video from California Speedway
Great job Ron! Excelent video coverage of your driving, looks like you are out on a Sunday drive. Must have that roadster set just right. Hoping to get my 240 back to Daytona this coming August. Many years waiting to get back. But I won't put up a video for a while as I'm not sure of my driving or car set-up? Thanks for sharing the video

In need of 15" wheels
Hi! Working on getting my z back to the track. Having a hard time finding 15" wheels. most yards in central Fl. scrap them for aluminum as soon as they get them. Is there any one out there in central Fl. that may have a set to sell or trade for 14" have two sets of those.

Current Helmet Standards
Hey I'm still driving my high school 78 Trans Am. If I were to get in an accident with a modern plastic car what would be the outcome. I see your point for a budget racer just another expense. If the helmet is weel maintained no cracks or dings it should still be good for more than five years.

Update Alt and Dist.
Thanks Gary! I'll take my time and wait till I find the 12 80. Now I have the Allison electronic convertion which been working ok and MSD, I'm told with the Nissan distributor should be better and less items in eng. comp. Both ZX's that I saw at the junkjard the dist. were gone, there are a few more yard I'll ck during the week. the alternator I bought the front and back edges were straight compared to the other one I saw afterward the frt and back edges in the housing they were rounded off and possible a smaller alt. They are both Hitachi I'm taking this one to the shop to get tested before installing, I have 30 day to exchage it if bad or the other one would be a more reliable one

Update Alt and Dist.
Hi Guys! To update a 240z to electronic ign. which is the best dist. to use for road race purpose? Today I got the Alt. out of a 280 turbo, its a Hitache with the edge square, after I had it out I saw a different 280 with rounded edges and a diode behind. Is there one more reliable than the other or about the same? Do I need that diode? Thanks: Pablo

Need Help Lining Fuel Tank
Danny more the vents you need to worry about the gas pick-up tube [on a 240 not sure what car you have], but the tube is less than an 1/8 in from the bottom of the tank just in front of the drain plug, If it gets coated shut need say no more. my car sat for over ten years with 1/2 tank of gas just had it out lucky only had sediment I flushed out with muratic acidthen lots of water, repaint going back this coming weekend unless I go fishing or the SARCC runoffs at Roebling. Always an excuse! If the tank looks good inside may want to leave it along. Or if someone else that been there may have better advise. Good Luck

Thanks ED. I was giving-up hope for help! But I have three diff ratios the 180 that came with the car plus two 200 that I got from the junkyard, all three I welded. I could never find a limited slip [did not know what cars had them] but I understand they like to overheat, so for now I'll keep the welded ones. does anyone know specs on n-27 su needles. I hear they are the hot ticket?

MSA Rear Sway Bar pics/advice please
Hi! I guess that ST would stand for suspension technique?, When I mounted my ST rear bar as it came and used the car for racing, even at at either of the three setings it rubbed the boot on the axle, was to close. I spaced up the lower mount on the adjustable link with about 1/4 in of washers, now lots of room no more torn boots. If that helps anyone. Thanks

Thanks ED! Yes I spend a few $$$ already to get it to this stage. That was 16 yrs ago when I started the project. Then the 240's were competive till the 2nd generation RX7 and 325 Bimmers were made legal. There is a 240 down here that he got his dialed in. He put them in their place [behind ], I"m not sure how willing he would be about letting out some secrets. As far as the rules I'm not up on the latest, but I can change to 15 inch rims. the eng. you are allowed up .5 compression ratio. all stays stock allowed to change parts within a model [got rid of the flat top Hitachi's], and fuel metering and air cleaners are open. I'm sure there is more to it than that or how to interpret rules? I had my E-88 head shaved forgot how much I'm sure is in paper somewhere bearlly to the bottom of the E-88 I had it out in March over at Sebring for a DE, it felt real good back behind the wheel. Going back in Nov. with some mod. already in the works. Always open for suggestions Thanks

Back to the track
Hi! New member looking for suggestion from expirienced Z-car techs and racers. I have a 73 240z that I found been used as a shelf because of blown eng. owner stored it for about 5 yrs till decide to sell. It was in New Jersey {rust} I brought it down to Florida took it all apart in 1989 made some what of a race car of it and did some scca ITS for a couple of years til money and time put it on HOLD. Now thing are a bit better looking to get back to mainly have fun. It has a nice custom cage welded in ground control coil over convertion, suspension technique sway bars frt/rear, switch to dome top su's. The car handled good with the best of them, just when we got to the straights the best would pull away like if I was still. since then I got a E-31 head still boxed till needed. I have a E-46 manifold I been using also have a N-33 that came in a junkyard eng. They look pretty much the same? I hear there are some better than others. and cam I have a couple of the stock E-31 cams one has some worn lobes? Looking to do a 1.5 hr enduro at Daytona {My favorite} in May 07 been doing some DE's to brush up on the driving now if some of you guys would help me with some ponys I'll hope to dust some of those Mazdas. That would be worth the effort. Thanks Pablo PS sorry for been so long got carried away.
