New Semester at College
I am at the end of my 3rd week. I go to a non traditional school(ITT) for cad. The biggest thing around here are the krout burners (German). We have a few GTI's but for the most part nothing special, and no Z's at all.

What is the most attractive part of your Z
I think since mine is truly at it's begining stages of repair, I would have to say aside from the fact it's in my driveway, The copilot is definatly the hottest part of my Z. Doesn't hurt that she is my wife.

I have actualy gotten my wife to crawl under the Z to help work on it. I jokingly told her I was going to trade it for an old truck, I thought she was going to kill me. I don't think I have ever seen her this into a car.

All the areas you just stated are the blue I menchuned before thats what leads me to believe it was blue. That and the interior is a blue. I just want to make sure whom ever I have do it does it the right color.

Next question is where can I get the color code decoded? It may yet be a while before paint is applied but would still like to know what color is right. As I said before I believe it is blue but would like to make sure. Thanks again for everyones help!

Interior parts
If my interior looked that good cozy my wife would think I stole it. If any body hears of or finds another deal like that please let me know. My interior is in such bad shape I am not even sure it was blue. I have never seen a car where the exterior was in good shape and the exterior was trashed like this.

VIN Decoding
Yes it does have a color code sticker under the hood I believe it was a blue. The majority of the car is primered but there are still remnents of the blue on the car. I will have to look into the info plate under the hood. I must appologize I didn't realize there would be seperate sites for Z's and ZX's. If that is the case can anyone recomend a good ZX site? Thanks Van

brand new to Zcars
Thanks for the kind thoughts. Pictures will be forthcoming. She isn't much to look at yet but for the price I was happy I could drive it home. I only payed 300 for it and was safe and comfortably able to drive it 60 miles home. At present we are trying to get 2 manifold bolts removed from the head. Once thats done I guess the floor pans and interior are next. keep the good thoughts and great info coming. Look forward to hearing from everyone! Van & Susan

I am a long time ford man and have fair knowledge of them but I am brand new to the Z car and I am trying to gather as much info as possible before realy ripping into it. Again I realy appreciate all the help. Please keep the info coming. thanks Van

backfire through carbs
Sounds more like a timeing issue. If it's backfiring through the carbs your timing is most likely off a few degrees.

VIN Decoding
I'mused to new car vins that tell almost everything about the car. From color to interior to engine and so on. Mostly I am trying to figure out how to find out all of this info. The car I purchased is in good running order but needs a great deal of interior replacement. I have never worked on a car like this so I am trying to learn as I go. I have a good deal of experience with old American cars but none with cars like this. I appreciate any and all help. Thanks To All

for starters, Gavin very nice cars! Second, the trick or secret is to find a woman who loves you enough to learn about them and help you with them. Or find what she wants and she will be interested in what go's on with it. I am a Ford lover, but my wife has wanted a Z since high school. I bought the Z at a great price and she cant wait to work on it and do more to it. We are learning together as I have never worked on Datsuns before. With this our passion for the car and eachother grows together. Good luck with yours and any advice for working on mine would be appreciated. Good luck Van
