Do you have the timing advance vacuum hose hooked to the left carb? Very important to have the vacuum line connected.

Is the timing set accuretly.....If its back fireing its probably the timing. Does it have a timing advance.....Is it properly connected to the carb...?

Where do I get/find a Rear Euro style Bumper for my 1971 240z? Do I have to turn my original one in to one by taking it to a body shop and have them weld it all together etc. or is there a place that sells them? Keith

I just want to get it painted. I disassembled it, and i will reassemble it when the paint is done. The doors and hatch I am sure will need to be put back on when they spray it.

The paint needs to be stripped because there has been quite a few coats on it. (I would say 4 coats). I started stripping the fenders the doors and got a some stripping of the paint done, but still needs a lot more. I am hoping to get a good paint job (no maaco job) for around 4000. Wondering if this is realistic?

I live in Redding California. Could you send me pictures of it. I know you live in Beaverton Oregon. My brother lives in Portland and could possibly pick it up. How much are you looking to get for it? Thanks Keith

Ok so I am getting ready to go get estimates to get my 1971 240z painted. I have all the glass, doors, hatch, windows, etc stripped from the car. The paint needs to be stripped and there needs some minor body work on the sides of the car where the molding was. How much should I be looking to spend to get a good base coat, cleat coat and minor body work for my Z? Thanks Keith

Yes I replace the fuel pump! (Its OEM type pump). Yes I am running the SU carbs and they have the choke cables connected properly. Even with the choke it takes a while for it to turn over! Would an electric fuel pump solve my problems? Will it turn on the first key? AHHHH Keith

So I recently redid all the mechanics on my 1971 240z and everytime I go an start it (which is approx every week) It takes awhile to turn over! Everything is brand new on it!? Its like it take a while for the fuel to get to the carbs after its been sitting for a few days. After of turning for awhile it finnally starts. It runs great when its running! just takes awhile to get it going......Whats the problem i want it to start on the first turn!!! Please help! Keith

OK so i need the panel that covers the windshield wiper mortor between the hood and the windshield. Where do I get one. I checked all my local junk yards and hey didnt have em. Its for a 1971 Datsun 240z.

Ok So I have An L24 in my 240z stock engine but I have a performance racing cam headers and performance ignition........is triple 50mm mikunis to big for my engine? Need advice?

I run my 240z without a thermostat and it stays at a good temperature. A thermostat is only useful for cold days and I dont drive my Z on a cold day.

Dont you need a lot of different parts besides just the differential to do the swap of the r200? I really want to put a r200 in it. But I dont know where to get one or the other necessary parts to install it.

I want to upgrade my stock differential in my 1971 Datsun 240z. I already upgrade to the 5spd tranny from a 280zx. Do I have to go with a all new assembly or can I get a mechanic to change out the gears? I want to get a better acceleration.

Ok on my 1971 240z everytime I drive it it makes a werid clank noise in the rear like there is a loose U-joint or something. It only makes the noise from stop to start any thoughts of what it is. Car had been sitting for 15 yrs. I just got it goin and now makes weird rear sounds.

Timing is good.....just checked it. Not quite sure of the RPM in third gear. I just remeber that right when i shift into third (at a lower RPM) it Pings. Im going to try and put a octane booster in the tank now because i have the low level octane in it now and next time I am going to get supreme gas. Hopefully it will get rid of the pingen.

My engine does "ping" in third gear....so I prob should use a higher octane gas?
