  5. I've done it on my '72. Take the switch apart, removing the little switch "box", it comes off with 2 or 3 philips screws, then use a small screwdriver to pry the little "tangs" that hold the inards inplace, remove the two contactors, using emery cloth clean them up along with the contact post's re-assemble and your good to go..... good luck, Dave

Victor, Sorry on your loss, that really bites! I'll keep an eye out up here in San Fran. Don't give up hope! Go cruise the docks, and auto body shops (the dark dingy ones), act like a customer and check 'em out. Best of luck, Dave

Neither did mine while it was in the car. Thats why I kept driving it, BambiKiller is correct, you need to pull the driveshaft to really check 'em out. Mine were a total PITA to remove, damn cups would not budge! And I have a press! Order a new set now and by the time you get them you'll HAVE to change them! Dave

Never considered the z a quartermiler, always thought of it as a mountain road blaster, set it up for power between 3k-7k rpm, set up the suspension and go. my 2c

The hockey stick fix is ok but the cut and weld of the , what I think, is called the "bell crank" (its the "hinge" point on the firewall") is better. Just be aware that the angle you weld it at is critical. I welded mine at to much of an angle and although my throttle smoothed out allot I lost full throttle! The bottom arm of the bell crank would hit the metal brace that is attached to the firewall and only gave me 3/4 throttle movement. I put my old bell crank back on and got a piece of longer throttle rod from a 280z and put it in place of the one that goes from the pedal to the lower bell crank mount point, then shortened the rod from the upper bell crank that runs parallel to the fire wall. That improved it a bit put still not perfect. I will be re-cutting and welding my originally cut bell crank to a better angle to see if I can get it right. At least I know I'm on the right track! Dave
  15. From what I understand, all performance cams are internally oiled and you should run the block-off plates.

Petronix is a "solid state ignition" No points, uses magnets to "open and close" a switch. I've had mine going over a year now and works great! Highly recommend.

Hi Guys, Recently purchased a t-5 out of an 84 zx and wanted to open it up to check syncros, gears etc. The reverse gear has some damage to it (pic of gear in gallery) Does this damage warrent replacement of gear? Are the gears available? Both reverse and idler? I've removed tailshaft housing, will the gear set pull straight out from here or do I need to remove the cover plate from the front of the tranny? Or anything else ie set screw or something. My manuals have nothing indepth on trannies. Thanks in advance Dave
  22. Just a quick note of thanks to Alan for the measurements, I too stashed them away for later reference. '75 yellow, how is the visibility? I like the idea of not having to turn my head to see the door mounted mirror. Thanks again! Dave
  23. Any core charges?
