  1. Marty, it might be worthwhile asking that question on HybridZ, In the most recent post by poortecher, he says he works for a Nissan dealership and that there are 8 other numbers per side that he is going to look up. He didn't report back yet though. Maybe PM him. At least he could supply you with the part numbers you would need to order from Nissan Canada. Go to the link I left in post #4.
  2. Venting your frustrations is a good thing Steve. Perhaps it will also serve to make all of us think about how we interact with each other. I have noticed that there are a lot of sellers placing an ad on this site who have 0 posts or very few posts. They frequent this site and view it just as another online selling venue. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it makes for abrupt, strickly business contacts with total strangers. There is no need on the sellers part to put forth any extra effort to create a lasting impression because odds are, that will be the last contact you will ever have with each other. Buying & selling online on this site, ebay, or any other should be viewed the same and you can expect the same indifference or curt attitude from many who just don't exhibit common courtesy or any degree of professionalism. Of course, we should expect far better interaction with those of us who view this site as a true "club".
  3. Been a Strat fanatic since the mid '70s after I pawned my '66 SG to buy beer for a camping trip.:stupid: I disturb the peace and rattle the glass on a daily basis, but could never make the transition to Guitar Hero or Rock Band. It's a blast watching the kids & grandkids playing these games though.
  4. Clive, I agree with you. I just compared the panel in my pic with the originals from my 10/70. I would describe these as OEM, not NOS. Looking at the front of the panel it would take an expert who knows what to look for to distinguish the difference. The difference lies with the vinyl around the perimeter. The "new" panels vinyl has a slightly finer grain. The difference is so slight, I could not see a difference until the two panels were side by side. The inner/center coarse vinyl piece is identical to the original. The chrome strip is identical. For a OEM remake, they would exceed anyones expectations. On the other hand I have heard, the ones that were being sold as NOS or Vintage Program leftovers were quite different and easily spotted. I have not studied the VP panels in person and will defer judgement from those who have. The backside of the "new" panels have staples all around the perimeter, whereas the originals have no staples and are only glued, that being the only difference I noted. Both panels came in a single, Nissan logo, purpose designed cardboard box with each panel inside an individual white frosted, plain plastic bag which was taped closed. Kraft paper bundles protected the edges from damage. I would highly recommend these if they are still available.
  5. Ha! I figured the glue would look like rust in the pic, that's why I mentioned it. Trust me...no rust on these. Here's a close up. Yeah, it looks like all Charlie did was peel off half the barcode/part number label and ship them to me. Don't get me wrong though, I'm glad to have gotten them, even if I had to pay a modest middleman fee.
  6. Zak, those are the same questions I have. I bought these before Christmas from Charlie Osborne at ZeddFindings. They were offered by him on Ebay. There were a number of sellers suddenly selling OEM door panels at reduced prices from what was considered the norm. Previous to this the panels that surfaced on Ebay were being called NOS with claims of being leftover from the Vintage Z program. These appear to be new and come in very recent Nissan packaging. They haven't been stored on a shelf somewhere. I think these were recently manufactured and restocked by Nissan and resellers such as Charlie Osborne got the jump on us by keeping their ears a little closer to the ground perhaps. He might be reluctant to share the secrets of his livelyhood, but I suspect he is just better connected and learns of parts availability quicker than us. Here are the pics of the ones I have. That is glue/adhesive you see showing as darkened areas on the backside. The installation clips are in the bag taped to the back. If anyone else can answer these questions, please enlighten us.
  7. Zak, I have a set here now if you want to see what they look like. I will try to get a good picture posted later tonight when I get back home.
  8. Randy, you can fashion a tool after one of these in this pic if you don't have any on hand. Using a piece of coathanger, a hammer/anvil and a small file you will be able to easily shape a tool to release the lock tabs in the connector. Then you can replace the grommet without cutting it or any wires. Just be careful, study the connector and try to not break the tabs, using a delicate touch, depressing the tab only enough to release the terminal from the connector. I have several homemade "picks" that I use on various locktabs. Make sure to make a crude diagram depicting wire color and cavity locations when removing connectors, to insure they are reinstalled correctly. When finished save your pick and start a collection. I have used literally several dozen different ones over the years, each for their own purpose. Good luck.
  9. Here's some information that I could have used about 2 months sooner, before I bought my new door panels from a re-seller. Oh well, maybe this will save someone else a few bucks. New door panels are available from the Nissan Parts Dept. here in Canada. According to the post on Hybridz, where I heard this, they are around $200.00 per side. I don't have any particulars and am just passing on a lead if you are in the market for new door panels. Here are the current Nissan part numbers: H0901 N3300 H0901 E4100
  10. Here's one more page describing the operation. Sorry for the bad scans but the book is too thick to scan properly.
  11. Here is an illustration and test proceedure found in the Nissan publication - Engine Analysis Performance & Emissions 1981-83.
  12. Nice detective work! That has to be what they are referring too. I tried taking a pic in the dark of the microfiche. I need practice or something.
  13. I have the latest revision of the microfiche (Dec '79). There are no "applied dates" associated with the original part number or the supercession. Also, there is not any material included to allow covering the hatch. I would guess that the vinyl roof on this car is aftermarket, even if it was dealer installed.
  14. They are listed on the very last page of the microfiche along with the installation kit. PN 04160-00003 which was superceded by PN 04160-00016 and is referred to as "Leather Top" and was offered only in black that I can see. The installation items included a wooden knife, moulding, cut knife, bond(contact cement), cleaner and something that has me confused called "past (aron alfer)". Any idea what that is? The racing stripes are listed on this same page.
  15. The only car I ever had that I equipped with a Thrush muffler was a 1952 Ford. It was two tone blue. That was back in '66. I remember the Thrush logo stickers were a "free take one" giveaway item at the time. You seen a lot of cars with the stickers, but no Thrush muffler.:classic:
  16. Put them on Ebay...EXTREEMLY RARE!!...well, who else has 'em? I would agree the label suggests they came from a car with a back seat.
  17. I have no reason to doubt Tomei san's assurances, and this will be a good thread for reference in the future, to settle the question of what does or does not fit. Very nice! These two sections of twice pipe exhaust system are something I would be very interested in aquiring for myself. Can you give me the contact information needed to find out about availability and cost? If the binocular gasket fits your header to twice pipes connection, it will also fit mine. PM me the cost particulars and a PayPal address if that is a suitable method of payment. I appreciate that you found one for me. Thanks!
  18. HAHA! How many fingers and toes did she have? Hope that didn't cause you trouble doin' yer cipherin...ROFLROFLROFLROFL
  19. I would venture that in most of the world Zed is the predominant pronounciation, although here in Canada Zee is gaining popularity. As far as I know it is only the USA that uses Zee in place of Zed.
  20. Congrats on the header purchase and I'm glad you had an enjoyable trip. I must admit I will feel much better once you confirm that they did fit without interference. They are configured the same as the L20 header and the Sports Option PN 14004-E4620 header. Here are the two thumbnails of mine (which does fit a LHD) and your new header side by side to make it easier to see the difference. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, post a pic when you get it installed. Good luck!
  21. Haven't tried a ShamWow yet, still waiting for my Q-Ray bracelet to kick in!
  22. I'm having some waterslide decals made right now for another project. All I had to provide was a scan of the originals in order for them to be made. Pretty cheap to replicate when you have several done.
  23. Welcome William, Probably 9 out of 10 of us in Canada went south to find a suitable Z. Patience is the best course of action when shopping for the right one. It always pays to spend the money up front on the best one you can afford. Whenever a good deal comes along, it is most likely discussed on this site. There are countless threads you can search for buying tips or any topic of interest in the archives. Good Luck!
