Dry Ice ?????????
I have seen dry ice blasting done on a large scale for at least 10 years now. It was being used to clean off the build up of paint on skid bars and paint lines. They used full body suits and air fed helmets for protection. If you have ever seen the paint sludge that accumilates in a high volume painting operation you could appreciate how effective the dry ice is. As mentioned the extreemly low temperatures turns even sticky paint sludge brittle enough to simply fall off. I posed this same question when I was considering using this method to clean my Weber carburetors, but I didn't find anyone who did dry ice blasting on a small scale with more finess than the heavy equipment I've seen.

New Club DVD!
This TSB references the S30 Supplement Chassis Manual. It was issued Jan. 5 1972. Just one of the bits of info. I stumbled across and thought you'd like to know Mike. Does your copy have the foldout wiring diagram still intact? I have the wiring diagram, but it is not in the best of shape.

got an engine want to know what its from
The car this engine came from likely had a manufacture date of 8/71 or 9/71. There is no way to tell for sure. What is the build date of your car?

Online Z Car registry
That was fast! I can't think of any other columns but there is one other thing that would be helpful. We should have the link for your "online spreadsheet registry" nailed on the front page.

Online Z Car registry
Mike, In the future when a separate sheet is made for parts cars and such, it would be nice to include a column for engines. I have a few spares and I'm sure many others do also. It would be interesting to see if a matching engine turns up for someone's car. Just a thought.

Video - Seven S30's on a cruise down the Great Ocean Road in Australia
Thanks for sharing that Sulio! It was fun to watch. A little rain can't put a damper on a cruise like that. Yours and the other cars are looking great!

After years of searching i finally found her!
Good Luck with the new car Bill! It's good that all the pieces are almost all intact and shes running. Lots of sprucing up to do (where did "sprucing up" come from anyhow?) Just make her purr, purty and have fun in your Z!

Finally some progress!
Hey Zak, Glad to see you moving ahead. You are about to learn how difficult it is to work/weld thin perforated sheet metal. It can be done though and you are lucky to have a neighbor to help you out with this. It looks like there will be some delicate surgery involved. I circled the area in your pic, to point out the filled indents Arne mentioned. If you are planning on using the stock bumper, this will have to be changed back, or the bumper won't fit properly. I'd see if I could dig up a better rear roll panel that hasn't been chewed up as much, if I were you. It would be better than trying to salvage that one.

How to De-Tune a Z
After reading through this entire thread a few times, let me ask if I have this right. This engine was not built with the intentions of being a daily driver. There are probably enough mods done to this engine to make it economically unfeasible to tone down for practical street use. That does not mean there isn't someone who would be interested in buying outright or trading/upgrading engines with you. I agree, it is a pain in the azz & you would be better off swapping out engines so you end up with something more enjoyable to drive. I'm sure that engine was built as a complete package and never intended to be detuned. Fun toy but not a good driver.

Mckrack - Your tongue in cheek has more bite than you realize. Members from every country and your's foremost, have been disrespected by your comments that have no relevance to our cars. Because you believe a company is obligated to supply parts for cars 30 plus years old and design cars today that meet your standards, is no reason to come down on an entire country. There's better ways to get your point across and if your statements reflect the way you truly feel, I'm sorry for you. Lighten up man. Hope you think about this and put things in perspective.

The Long Road Home
Welcome home Sean. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Other than the door mishap and the heat, it sounds like it was a most enjoyable drive. A true testiment of the condition and care you take of your Z. I read in another thread you think you need a new camera. I think your pictures were amazing, considering they were not taken in a controled setting, but along the way. It sure helps to have such a beautiful backdrop and stunning sunsets. Your Z looks great and right in place in such beautiful country. I'm envious of you guys that have logged this many miles in a Z.
