  1. This is an impressive list of manufacturers providing accessories for Datsun. I'm sure there were many more. Note how many of these companies are still active today.

    A young Mr. K

Absolute treasure Chris! Thanks for relaying the pics & info. I think it's great that at 98 years of age Mr. K has the presense of mind to maintain ties with old friends. From all the photos I have from the '30's it looks like front bumpers were optional. Don't keep us in suspense too long. What was the caption on the photograph?
  3. This is the ski carrier attachment for the Amco roof rack. It is also lockable.
  4. Good score Mike! It should be interesting, noting the differences you find between these early cars. Too bad about the storage problem. It's a shame to have to sell one. We all go through that to some extent. I know if I bring anything else home Mrs Geezer will have my arse on the next bus to AnywherebutHere!
  5. Congrats getting your car back on the road & looking great! I know it was a long time coming, but it was well worth it. Beautiful!
  6. I'm shocked Will! What happened? Was it a tornado, storm, what? I haven't seen the news or heard of anything happening down your way. I have been quietly pulling for you to get the car ready in time, and am in disbelief. The most important thing is, no one was hurt. I am so sorry to hear this, but glad everyone is OK.
  7. I had an opportunity to look this car over about a year ago. I was very impressed with it. It is a very well done restoration and shows really well. The seller is a great guy and won't steer you wrong. JeffG78 can tell you more about this one. He was the previous owner.
  8. Congrats on the great showing and thanks for sharing the slide shows. They were enjoyable to watch.
  9. Thanks yellazed, that's better than mounting them and then deciding you don't like it. They look just as good moved forward (to me anyhow). It would get a little boring if every car was exactly the same. Batman wouldn't have been nobody without his car!
  10. Should be a fun car that will stand out in the crowd! Congrats & enjoy!
  11. Good timing for this thread. I always liked this style of mirror better than the stock one and was surprised to find a brand new one in a parts lot that I bought a few years ago, before I even had a Z. I am going to need another one now and want to make sure the MSA bullet mirror is the same. This one measures 4" across the glass housing (not convex) and the base has the exact dimensions as the Bullet II on the Z-Store site. They don't give a dimension for the glass. Can someone measure the glass? It appears to be made of chrome plated stainless. Since my car is in the metal working stage, I was planning on changing the mounting location as far forward on the door as possible. I think that may achieve the proper adjustment needed on the passenger side. I love the look on BadDog's car and wonder if they would look OK moved forward?
  12. They are 12mm and have 2 washers, 1 being a split lock washer. The bolts also have a philips screw slot in them. PS- I'd take a picture but my camera went on vacation without me (bummer).
  13. I don't know if this is relevant in this case but I remembered reading this in a early '71 Service Bulletin. There must have been a problem with the fans being installed backwards. From your post I gathered that was the only thing you have done (remove & replace same fan)? Nothing else has changed?
  14. Jimmy, all 4 attachments I posted were from a single Technical Bulletin that was issued in Feb. 73. The specs differ from what was printed in the FSM's, because the feedback from hundreds of technicians worldwide was now known. This was the recommendation that was sent out to the dealers. The insert with the gauge cutout is a stiff cardboard.
  15. Unless your trying to impress the critics, who cares? It will look good with either type. I wouldn't fill in any vents though. You can always change it out at a later date, if you happen across another. Just don't sell it with the wrong one or you will be referred to as the "dumb arse PO"!

    Mr. K's Birthday

Wow...98! Congratulations and salutations are definitely in order. Still enjoying the ride! Thanks Chris.
  17. I'm glad to see someone gettin' it done. Looks good Zak. You are going to spoil those guys in the body shop. They are not used to starting with such a clean slate. Keep at it, winter will be on us again before we know it.:tapemouth
  18. I was thinking smaller than bumpers Zak, but I like the pizza-pizza idea. Your bumpers would smell great, but I don't know about the next guy's pizza:sick: Tommo, the guy selling this product is in your backyard. You probably could use a heat gun for small parts if you kept the heat even. He says he can't ship internationally. This sounds to be the same product available from Summit.
  19. Here's how Nissan suggested adjusting floats.
  20. Thanks for the link Jimmy. I have seen it before and it is quite impressive. That particular product is much different and has a great advantage, as it can be used on plastics and other non conductive surfaces. I think these various chrome alternatives are the way of the future. They are getting better all of the time. If your not doing a concourse restoration it will be the way to go. The last restoration I did, I spent $3800.00 on the chrome and that wasn't counting the bumpers! Makes me glad this Z doesn't have much chrome.
  21. Has anyone seen this before, or maybe used it? I think I might have a few uses for it, if it's half as good as they claim. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1oz-KAAT-Chrome-Real-CHROMIUM-Spray-n-Bake-Plating_W0QQitemZ190150472580QQihZ009QQcategoryZ34203QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  22. Enrique, I wouldn't doubt a recommendation from Beandip for a second. Both you and he know what works and it's got y'all this far. I noticed that illustration and found it interesting also. It pertains to only flat tops, in the context intended in the manual maybe?
  23. The pinched coolant line sounds like an attempt to regulate operating temperature. I will do some research. I don't pretend to know a dang thing about flat tops, but I read a lot. I have heard of this before but just can't remember where.
