  1. Well, I guess it really all depends on the days and temperatrue you drive your car. If you drive it in really hot warm summer days, from my experience, these cars get really really toasty hot especially with mine atleaste being with black interior. If you've driven it in some real hot temperatures and feels comfortable enough like it is, then you might just be fine with taking it all out of the car. Remember if you do have the a/c recharged, you will need to buy a new reciever/dryer as that is a crucial part to replace every three years or so to prevent corrosion and moisture in the a/c system, not to mention the the desiccant pellets inside will break down and clog the expansion valve which can damage your compressor, not good. They usually run about $60.00.
  2. Awesome!
  3. I think this was posted before that was on Craigs list. We'll see how it does on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-Datsun-240Z-Excellent_W0QQitemZ300113824699QQihZ020QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Have you checked your thermotime switch continuity? That could possibly be it as it could be riching out the mixture by having the coldstart valve being one all the time.
  5. So how many of you guys are actually entering your car in the show?
  6. They mean "fan shroud". Here's a link to the oem thermostat. http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CP&Product_Code=21200-S30Z
  7. What was the temp. outside?

So the exact size of these vacuum hoses is 7/64? I just want to make sure as it looks like I'll have to order a roll of it online because I've been to three different auto parts stores that don't carry the right size. Also, if any of you have that "y or t" connector I'll buy it as I think I'll need one of those too.

Hey guys, thanks for the info and diagram! It has really helped me. I got the two vacuum hoses from the vacuum bottle hooked up to the solenoids, so got that taken care of. Tomarrow I think I'm going to buy a role of vacuum hose as you suggested to finish it off. After studying this diagram ( a different one that I found to be a little easier to follow and read), shows vacuum hose c ( the one comming out of the firewall on the passenger side) making a split using the "Y or T" connector as it states in the diagram. Well in my car, the hose comming out of that same hole in the firewall makes a left turn and is connected up to "vacuum port s1" as they call it in the diagram. Either the the previous owner did this and it is connected wrong or my car is some how "different" (have no idea how it could be, but just want to clear it with you guys first). Before I go out and change it to via. what the diagram shows, I just want to be 100% sure that this is a mistake and connected up wrong before I go out and change the routing of the hose to match the vacuum hose diagram. Any input is greatly apprectiated! I included a couple pictures to show what I'm talking about. diagram As you can see, this hose (which is shown in the diagram the one on the passenger side firewall) makes a left turn and then goes and gets connected up to the "vacuum port s1". Look at the diagram and you will see it does not do this and makes a split via. the "y or t" connector. Catch my drift? "Here's the "vacuum port s1" as they call it in the diagram connected up to that hose that came out on the passenger side firewall that made the left turn. Hope you follow that, but thanks again and please let me know what you think I should do!

I tried to do some research on this and from my understanding, one hose connects up to the fast idle actuator for the a/c, on the other goes through the firewall and connects up to the heater motor? Thanks again for all your help guys. Sometimes I get a hunch that I ask to many questions, so feel free to let me know anytime

I've got another question for you guys here. I forget what this does, but I know that a couple hoses run off of it and not sure exactly where they go. If it's something to do with emissions, then I'll probably just leave it or take it off as all the emissions crap was taken off. I'm thinking about hooking those two hoses back up to it, but not sure where they would go and what the purpose of the "bottle" is for. Here's what I'm referring to.
  15. Got the new reciever/drier installed today (pic. included) and all that is left is to order that new compressor which we will do the middle of next month. Replaced the idler pulley bairing too.

Very very nice! I thought I remembered seeing it with the orginal "D" caps? Also, did you have Z Specialties work on it?

My vote is no too. To me, they kind of look like something you'd see on a rally car, but if you like the way they look, then that's what matters.
  20. Wow, 720hp! I wonder what's it got under the hood?!?

No problem, we all live and learn.
  22. Well, I talked to my dad about it tonight and he said that he would pay for the new compressor in the link above if I bought and payed for a new a/c drier, so I'm going to have a local auto parts store order in a new one. Still am a bit curious about why you need to purchase a new drier in order to maintain the warranty with most of these new compressors, thanks for any info.
  23. You sold it on Ebay? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1980-DATSUN-10TH-ANNIVERSARY-280ZX-BLACK-RED-7902-miles_W0QQitemZ160114455618QQihZ006QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  24. Good news! I got time off work so this will work out. I'm really looking foward to this as this will be the first car show that I have entered my car in! Definitely won't be the prettiest by any means as it's primer, but will still be a hoot. I don't think we will be able to join you guys on the drive down as we're going to be driving down Saturday.
  25. Cool pictures!
