  1. Those wheels look great, I've always thought those wheels looked fantastic on Z cars.:classic:

Thanks for the advice guys, We have a couple that we used to put in our boat for storage. You should be able to find them at any marine center. Yup, my parents have have told me they plan to start it up atleaste once a month and maybe take it around the block every once and while and run it through the gears. I'll also through some StaBil in the tank too. I'll be attending Moorpark Community, about a 15 minute commute away from my relatives ranch.

I just wanted to give you guys a little heads up on why you probably won't be seeing me around here as much! I'm going to be going to college in Souther California (Simi Valley) and heading down there on Saturday (the 9th). My parents and I decided that it would be best if I didn't take the Z down there and to leave it in their garage to prevent it from getting damaged or vandalized in the college campus parking lot. My original plan was to take it down, but my parents ended up convincing me that it would just collect lots dings and scratches from being in the parking lot, and I don't want to see that either. My dad gave me his new VW GTI that I will be taking down there. I will probably end up selling the Z next summer because I don't need or really want to own to cars, especially in two different states and also because I hate to see it have to take up parking/work space in their garage. I bought a Technalon car cover, putting a Battery Tender on it and also putting a dehumidifier in the interior to store her away properly.

Stupid rookie question, but do these mount on 280z's? I don't recall seeing one under mine.
  6. I think the general census would be to just buy a 280z rather than going through all the effort to convert it to efi, unless you're up to the task. Things like the fuel tank, wiring and hoses for example would all have to be changed, added and modified. You might want to check out this thread for some more insight on this, http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28673&highlight=240z+efi
  7. Wow, looks beautiful just like it rolled off the showroom floor! Love the color!
  8. First off, welcome! If you haven't already, download or buy a factory service manual (or even the Haynes manual) as it's a big help with seeing how everything goes together and gives you a good idea of what you're getting into. I think you'll find that you will just need to go through everything in order to 'reserect' the car and get into working condition again and the cost factor will just depend of the condition of the parts and what may need to be replaced, ex. old hoses, tune up parts ect. Also on a side note, it sounded like you meant to post picture(s) and none are showing up.
  9. I was talking Z cars with my next door neighbor today and he said he had an original service manual for a '77 280z that he just dug up and wanted to know if I wanted it, so I said I'd like to pay him for it. He kindly rejected the offer and gave it to me for free! I think I will mail him a Starbucks card or something.
  10. You might like seeing this video. These guys visit Jay's garage and "restore" the paint on one of his cars and they explain and show their process. http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/video_player.shtml?vid=201475

Do you guys think it's a good idea to throw bottle of 'fuel injector cleaner' into a full tank of gas every 5000 miles or so?
  16. That's very cool, wow!
  17. Very nice, what a fine example of an original!

I got this one from MSA last year because I wanted a cover for my console. It mounts at the rear of the console with a hindge so you can lift it up.

  21. These car sure are addicting! In my opinion too, these cars make an awesome, practical daily driver while making the whole drive fun. Some of the new modern cars that I've driven get to put to shame in comparison of how they drive or feel over the Z and I think, my 280 is over thirty years old and it doesn't raddle or have an annoying dead spot in the mid range. Looking forward to seeing your Z, sounds like you've got a nice one and even better, the clock works!:classic:
  22. Been talking to my dad a little about putter her on the dyno there and think it would be a fun thing to see what kind of numbers it puts out. Not expecting much though as the drivetrain is 100% stock, but will be interesting what it puts out none the less.
  23. Thank you for serving our country.
  24. I always run 87 in mine. Shell gas I've found makes it ping, so I've stayed away from it.
