About a year ago, we pulled off the a/c compressor off our old 260z to eventually put on my car since it got taken off at one point. I've already got the condensor and pretty much everything else of the system on the car other than the compressor. I know that they take away hp and mpg and everything, but it just gets smokin' hot during the summer and hot days and can get almost un-barable at times on hot days. I'm to be going to colleage in southern California next year, so it would almost be a must to have down there. I figure during the winter I'd just pull off the belt when it's not in use and get my hp and mpg back. Come summer, put it back on. Any how, I'm thinking about before summer to get it put on (maybe have the compressor rebuilt which it may need), and re-charged. I took a couple pictures of it and was curious if you could identify if this was a factory a/c compressor or if it was a dealer a/c style compressor? There's probably not any difference between the two, but I don't know enought about these and would like to learn a little more about it. Also, what color were they orginally? Before it was put on the car I'd like to clean it up a little bit and paint it if I could. Thanks guys.
  3. Thanks for your opinions guys. I agree and know what you mean by treating these cars like a "coffee shop" if you will because I feel that way too. Much of the time, I eat a packed lunch in it when I'm at work for example, so sometimes I wish I had something to hold my drink. That would make sense though that the cup holder itself could and would get in your way of shifting, I hadn't thought of that. If I do decide to get one of these things, I may just get that "plug and chug" thing that you can stick in and out so it doesn't always have to be there. I came across this which I thought was pretty cool and might look nice. It sounds like it uses a mount. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/CAR

Cool, '76 is a great year! Looks to be pretty straight. Keep us updated!
  5. I'm thinking about possibly buying one of these sometime down the road as they would seem to prove quite usefull for holding your drink and such. I was curious if any of you bought these for your Z, what you thought of them, if you would buy it again and also how they mount to your center console. Thanks for your opinions! http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/CARWCH/50-2570 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/IA27/50-2580 This looks interesting too

Thanks, I found an unused oem switch on Ebay that I'm going to bid on and try and get, but I needed to confirm before hand that this was the connection for it. Thanks again.

From what I have learned, I'm pretty sure that this is the connection for the antenna switch. I pulled the connection out from the center console, and it's got three blue wires running from it. Here's a picture of it, it's a little blury.

Thanks, I was thinking that same thing. I would want it to look pretty much the same as the hazard and re-defogger switch. I'm trying to keep the look stock as much as possible, so I would want something that really would blend.

Thanks for the info, if their able to do it, they will probably have to put a toggle switch in that spot next to the hazard switch. Like you said, it's really not that big of a deal to have it go up and down, the way I've got it now is up and seems to get a pretty good reseption, so it's not that big of a deal if it's not opperational. Although can be nice in the garage so you don't poke your eye out on accident while walking by it or washing it.

Sorry for the long reply, apparently I fogot to check back. We're having some electrical work done on it,and they're going to see if they can wire it so it will come up with when the radio is turned off and on. If the antenna is ruined, I can put in the spare that I have--
