Water leakage problem
Ok, I found the hose that you were talking about and it seems to not be the source of the leak. I turned the hose on and let it rest on top of the cowl on the passenger side and lied under neath the dash for a few minutes. Just about nothing happened (maybe one little dribble at most) so I got up and put the hose torwards the center of the cowl and then it seemed more dribbles of water started flowing in. They seem to be comming from the center to the left side on the passenger side under the dash. It's really hard to tell because all the dribbles are comming down from under the kick panel which I can't tell from there where they are comming in frome many places under the dash. Is there a center drain tube under the cowl that would be causing this because it doesn't seem the rubber drain hose is the problem. Thanks so much for the help guys, it is greatly appreciated.

Water leakage problem
Well we bought some silicone and filled in some small cracks under the cowl area. Well it still leaks. I'm wondering if it's that hose EScanlon was talking and might be cracked or corroted. I assume you need to take the fender off to get to this rubber hose?

Nice silver 240z on Ebay
The color of this car really caught my attention, I sent this guy a message asking him what shade and brand of silver he used on it because I'm trying to get some ideas on some shades of silver for my car which will get painted this summer. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STUNNING-240Z-CONFERENCE-BUILT-ENGINE-5-SPD_W0QQitemZ200073416045QQihZ010QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Mckrack, would it be possible at all to see any pictures of your car? Sounds like a beauty and we'd more than love to see it!

I would appreciate your opinions please
When we first got my 280z, it had them on there and I thought they looked alright. We had to take them off of coarse to do all the body work and now I'm glad that we did because having them off I think really makes the car have a cleaner sportier look to it and gives it the right lines. But it's always your opinion on what you like.

Why would you want a 280?
Well put Mike, I feel the same way that you do about yours that I do to mine.

Why would you want a 280?
I see a 240z vs. 280z war starting here... I have never owned or driven a 240z, so I can't speak much about them on my part, but I do have to say that I believe that 280z's are very good quality cars and are more than a blast and pride and joy to own!

I was thinking about that too, here's is the link to the video if you want to see it. I heard that there was a full version of it out there, and I've searched just about everywhere still can't seem to find the full version to it if there is one.

Fresh Motor; Running, but not well.
Be sure to check your injector connectors and make sure they are all getting a good connection and that they are all firing. You said that you replaced them, so you may want to go back and double check to make sure you got all those connections tite. With experience on my l28, it was running a little rough, and we found out that the number 5 injector was not firing. It turned out that it wasn't getting a good connection and the clip was not holding it on tite enough, so after some "fiddling" with the connection, we got it to fire and now it runs smooth as ever and runs on all six, so it's just something you may want to check.

Inner floor sound/rust proofing options
Funny you bring this up, I'm working on exactly what you're talking about now. I have a leak that I need to repair, and there was water comming in on the passenger side under the dash and the carpet got completely soaked, so we took it all the carpet out on the passenger side. I took out all the sound detening material down the medal only on the floor board, and then we applied a silver rustolium to prevent further rust and to match the the same color as the original sound material. Were probably going to leave it at that and then of coarse put the carpet in after that and I'll see how it is, but driving it the way it is now, to be honest I really haven't notice that much of a difference at all. Or maybe it's because I have my radio up to loud, haha no. EDIT: Also, you may want to consider using Dynamat. From what I've learned and heard, it's good way to go when restoring an old car as it really keeps the noise down inside the car. Good luck.

Save My Car!
See if Oliver at Zspecialties would buy it from you, we had a parts car 260z, and he was interested in buying it from us for $100, worth a try if you don't get any bites-Austen.

Water leakage problem
Well we took the cowl off today and we did find some small cracks on the floor of the cowl area and by the "snorkel". We bought some silicone so were going to try and fill the small cracks with that. We also bought some Rustolium and we put it on the floor board on the passenger side since there was some rust there from the water leakage.

Throttle position switch
Thanks for the info. Also, with the tps connected, if you're in second gear for example and you hit about 2800 rpm, a wiplash effect happens because I learned that one set of the contracts tells the efi computer to shut off the injectors at 2800 for de accleration if one set of the contacts are corroted. And by disconnecting the tps, this goes away.

Throttle position switch
I just placed an order for a tps for my 280z because the original was tested and is not working correctly. I was wondering if would what exactly it does, I know that it revs the engine up to about 1500rpm on cold starts which it doesn't do now, but I was wondering if what else it does. Thanks for any info.

Big, nasty bumpers
Welcome to the site! I know it's always up to the owner to what he/she wants to do to their own car, but in my opinion, the "parkbenches" as some people have reffered the long bumpers as are in my opinion what kind of make a 280z, a 280z. EDIT: If you're talking about the bumper over riders, courtesy parts sells them. http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CP&Product_Code=85340-S30RR
