  1. I don't want to hijack a thread here, but correct me if I'm wrong that size for a 76' 280z would be a 17 gallon tank?
  2. I was curious why the valve covers for these cars were made with a third hole? Yes, two out of the three are used for the wire looms, but what is the the third one for torwards the back of the valve cover?
  3. Ok, I see what you mean, I've done a little research and it looks like the second picture that I posted was off of a 77-78 efi unit which has a mount on the end of the efi for the EGR, which the 75-76 efi units do not have. I still have one question though, from the pictures that I have seen there isn't anything mounted on top of the efi where the two screw holes are? It almost looks like there should be mounted there, but nothing is in any of the pictures that I've seen atleaste. 1977, 1978 efi unit with mount on the end for the EGR 1975, 1976 efi unit without the extended mount on the end, but what are those two srew wholes for on the end on the far right for? But then why on this 75' on Ebay does it have what I think the 77-78 style efi unit on it, only reason I can think of is that it was swapped over. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1975-Datsun-280Z-LITTLE-GREEN-MONSTER_W0QQitemZ320058497249QQihZ011QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Yes, I am a little confused about this.:stupid:
  4. Nope, it doesn't have a header. Would this be a part worth finding/buying and putting back on, or should we not bother?
  5. I'm not exactly sure what it's called what I'm missing here on the fuel injection, but if you look and compare in the two photos there is a part that mounts on the fuel injection which is not mounted on mine being the top photo. Is this related to emissions? This part has never been on it and assume the previous owners took it off for one reason of the other. We have a fuel injection book for the these engines but we seemed to have missed placed it and now I can't find it so I was wondering if you guys could help me understand what is missing on it. Thanks. If you guys would like, I can take a better picture tomarrow of it, it's getting dark here so the quality is pretty bad and might be hard to see what I'm talking about. Sorry about the small picture, I couldn't seem to find a good picture that shows what I'm talking about. It's the round "metal thing" that is on the end of the fuel injection.
  6. Check out the body work done on this 260z. It looks like somebody took their hack saw to it and went to town, it's ubelievable especially around the fender wells. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1974-DATSUN-260Z-ORIGINAL-DAILY-DRIVER-RAT-ROD-RESTORE_W0QQitemZ120061558324QQihZ002QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  7. It almost sounds like it might have a blown head gasket if it's running on only 3 cylinders.
  8. Sorry to hear that, atleaste you have something to look forward to and know that you will have another Z! What happened to the engine?
  9. Very very nice! Looks almost brand new in the pictures!
  10. Not that this is the real problem, but try taking your spark plugs out and cleaning them to see if this makes any difference in your starting just for the heck of it, fouled up plugs can sure make a difference in starting.
  11. We don't have cable either so we don't get any of those good shows either.
  12. Do you guys know if the battery hold down will fit the Optima deep cell batteries? I'm curious because that's what we have in it now and they have the slitely different shape compared to the stock ones.

Sounds like you got it made, but make sure there's no old stale gas sitting in the tank that's over a year old because that can make an engine in itself run pretty bad.

Since I'm pretty new to the site, I was a little curious if the site ever has like a "winter picture contest" where every one submits their favorite picture of the car in the winter or anything like that ever?
  15. I'd say it's a pretty nice looking car if it didn't have that steering wheel that looks like it came out of a street rod and the flames which I think don't match the car very well.

Hey guys, I was curious if you guys could post a picture or two of how the battery is supported with the clamp for a 280z? Right now we have the battery bungee corded down, but my dad and I can't seem to figure out the way the two parts go back on again. Here's a picture of the parts that I'm talking about.

    Lookin' real nice!
  18. Wow, sounds like you found a gold mind! Keep us updated on this!
  19. Sorry guys for the long awaited reply/update on this, but I seemed to have fixed the problem by lubricating the throttle lingage every couple of days spraying it with WD40. A couple weeks ago I stopped spraying it and hasn't gottan stuck once so it seemed to fixed the problem.
  20. I see, well I guess that's for the best. Hey, is that white 240z at Z Specialties still for sale? I've seen that one before at it looks to be in pretty good shape. http://www.zspecialties.com/70_240.htm
  21. Hey man, if I were you, I'd park the car until I saved up enough money to get it fixed. I mean in the mean time could buy something else until you've saved up enough to fix your 240z. I guess what I'm saying is, if you buy another z car it probably will have problems every now and then that may go wrong to so you will be putting money into that maybe you'd be better off just keeping the car that you have now and saving your money to put into that.-Austen.
  22. I thought it might be fun to have a poll to see how often we all drive our Z cars. Since my 280z is my first car, I do drive it everyday.
  23. Alright, I see what I did wrong and why the post isn't showing up, this post can be deleted. I'll start over with a new one this time and will get it right.
