I recently had to have my car emissions test and it FAILED !! My question is just prior to my test I poured one pint of seafoam fluid in my gas tank just before I filled it up, would that cause a poor reading on an emissions test.

Thanks for the reply, I guess the reason I am asking; Is the performance engineering of the 280z that good even though it is 30year old technology and besides the obvious i.e abs, air bags and the electronics the cost difference of a 350z and the cost of a modified 280z; It seems more cost efficient to put your money into restoring and modifying a 280z that has already bottomed out on depreciation, than buying a 350z that is going to keep on depreciating.

This question is for all the 240-280z experts; Would a modified 280z, stroked and bored, suspension, wheel upgrade and brakes ever match the performance of a stock 350z?

Thanks guys; I didn't realize that it would be that complex. MSA makes it sound like it is an easy conversion.

I have question for anyone; has anyone installed the stroker mod from MSA they claim it takes your 280 to 3100cc ? And what are the major improvements over stock?

I appreciate the replies, I guess my post was a little misunderstood. After reading it I see how selfish I looked. I agree with everyones replies I thought about it more as I was driving to the store and saw all these small, new , little cars like the KIA's and Scion's. Those cars cost about 13-20 grand and don't have nearly the performance or fun factor as the old style Z cars.

I have a 1978 280, I purchased it for $3200 from cali, and it has 110000mi. on it and it had a rebuilt engine within 500 miles before I purchased it. So far I painted it put new seats and complete stereo. My question is how much is too much to invest in these cars? I want to know where is the breaking point of putting too much money and not getting anything in return? Thanks guys

Thanks Guy's, I think I'll try to get replacement parts, I am in AZ, and the Zcar source here in scottsdale are selling OEM hoods and fenders for $499 and $299. I just wanted to know if I should try to fight the insurance co, for new OEM metal considering these are becoming Classic Z Cars!

I was recently involved in an accident (not at fault) and received some front end damage to my car "78" 280z. My question is should I try to get their insurance to pay for replacement parts and paint or are they going to try and pay for just the repair work? I guess what I am trying to ask is what has anybody done to repair or fix their vehicles?
  12. there is a company in cali called the lugnut king www.lugnutking.com
