  1. currently I live in Charlotte NC, but will be relocating to the Dallas area this summer. I believe the family (ie wife) wants to move to the Plano area. I have a blue 77 280 ( there are a few pictures in my gallery) would definitely want to meet some folks once I am in the area. Always looking for helpful hints/suggestions on what to do to my toy. currently as you can see from my pictures, I need a front quater panel, head light casing, and a new front bumper before I can realistically think about driving it on a regular basis. the interior is decent, but obviously will be fixed up. What I am most worried about is any unforeseen rust. Looking for suggestions as to how to check for the unseen problem. I can say though that I drive it every weekend around the neighborhood, and everything works. Jeff

Okay, so the pictures are in my gallery. Since i am very new to this, I am hoping for any suggestions/tips on where to begin. :stupid: On the drivers side, there is rust on the underside where the missing quarter panel and door meet. Should i assume that there is a lot more rust, and if so does it make sense to start tearing the car apart. The car runs, and has been driven occassionally for the last 6 years, before the quarter panel was damaged. I appreciate any assistance you guys can provide.

I finally got my hands on my brothers 280. I uploded some pictures for everybody to look at today 6/8. I don't know how long it takes for them to be approved. Let me know what you think once their available. Outside of the left front quarter panel missing (he decide to wreck it right before he gave it to me), its in pretty decent shape. Dashboard not cracked, all gauges work, only one spot of rust just underneath the drivers door. Everything else as expected for a 26 yr old car. Oh Yeah! You did read that right, he did not charge me anything for the car. He just wanted to be done with it :stupid: Any and all opinons are wanted. Thanks

I have to fix my drivers side door handle. Doesn't always catch when closing. I assume I am going to have to remove the door panel. What is this special door panel tool you guys are refering too (I know, I know, stuipd question) :stupid: but I am fairly new to this project car thing. Thanks

beandip - thanks for the informative reply. Unfortunately I won't have the car in my possession until tomorrow  The PO (my younger brother) informed me of this issue, he said that he has noticed it for awhile, just never got around to fixing it. Since this is the first project car i have ever owned, i thought i would look for some advice as to where to begin my search to fix the problem. Now I at least have a starting place, Thanks.

I am experiencing a heavy exhaust odor from my 280. I think it might be a crack near the manifold. Just wondering if anybody has any suggestions on how to tackle the problem. I am hoping I can fix it myself.
