New recordings of my exhaust
Hard to tell. The compression is making it sound like a sci-fi movie. Sure does not sound bad though.

blown motor, Thanks everyone.
Am I the only one here who has no idea what that means?

Wheels that will fit Zeds
I have on my 1970 a set of Sport Max 15x8 0 offset. No clearance issues at all with 195/50s and Ebach lowering springs. Sorry this is the best photo I have at the moment

What's a 300Z Fairlady-can I have a RH drive car here?
Could. Motorex is dead. That was a shady business and the guy who ran it is in a lot of trouble right now. There are no legal Skylines ( or other JDM car for that matter ) coming into the U.S. and won't be in the forseeable future.

What's a 300Z Fairlady-can I have a RH drive car here?
Same thing as with importing Skylines, Silvias, or any other popular Japanese domestic market car. The are not legal becuase DOT says there not. So you can't have one on public roads. Buy a 300zx twin turbo and stick Fairlady badges on it. Same car, but you don't have to explain your self at the drive through window.

Drives better with the choke up. Why?
This is most definitely a temporary solution! I have had the car for just days now. This weekend I will have time to try and sort out the running issues. I am trying to drive the car as little as possible until then. Thanks for all the advice.

Drives better with the choke up. Why?
Thanks guys. The idle screw is all the way out, and it idles around 1000rpm ( according to the tach that likes to work at sporadic intervals ) I have several shop manuals that came with the car. Plus this website and the Ztherapy site and I sure I will sort it out in no time. So its not bad to drive the the choke up?

Drives better with the choke up. Why?
I know very little about carburators. I am reading as much as I can but I am really busy right now and leisure reading is at a minimum for another week or so. Why is my 1970 240z driving so much better with the choke up? What is it doing? L24 block with an E88 head and stock everything else as far as I know. Beyond that I know nothing about this engine. Thanks. I know that is a super newb question !

New paint, lower value?
So I just bought this great Z. The 2nd owner painted it a horrible burgundy color that is all faded now. The paint job was not quality. So it needs to be redone. The original pant code is #905 red, with the sticker preserved on the radiator support. I really like the #114 green that was offered in the first years. http://zhome.com/History/ZColorGallary/113green2.jpg Would it affect the value of the car to change the paint color from the factory original? I am thinking no, especially because the engine is a replacement and no longer numbers matching. Pretty much any new paint will significantly increase the value of the car. My question is will repainting the car the original factory color increase the value more than changing it to a different factory color? Pulling every dollar out of the car whenever I decide to sell it is not really my main concern. But I am conscientious of the fact these cars are only becoming more and more collectible. Thoughts?

My first Z car! 56k....you guys are still around?
HAHAH that photo is so funny Thanks guys for all the welcomes. I have been finding time here and there to look over the car the last few days. It is is very good shape over all! The car had FOUR American flags stuck on it and I got them all off cleanly. Not that I have anything at all against Old Glory, but I really don't think the stickers looked good on this classic Japanese sports car. I took her for a test drive before I bought it and all was well. So fun to drive. The next time I drove her she was having hesitation issues at low RPM. Every time after that it got worse and worse until yesterday morning she didn't want to start, stay running, or drive. Had to tow her to my brother's place where all my tools ( and project car ) resides. I thought it was the alternator. But upon closer inspection it was just the power wire from the alternator! Someone had replaced a section of it at some point with a tiny little 14-ish gauge wire and it had completely corroded. Simple fix, and she is running fairly well now. Low RPM issues totally gone. The car has been sitting for 5 years so it definitely needs a tune up. No problem. As soon as I fix all the little things it will be time to start looking into a paint job! I won't be posting a whole lot, mostly reading and searching this website. But I will absolutely keep you all updated with the progress on this car. Thanks again, glad to be here and so excited to finally own a 240Z!

My first Z car! 56k....you guys are still around?
Thanks for the welcome, and correct info. I obviously don't know a whole lot about these cars, but I will learn. The wheels will go up for sale soon. The Enkei caps can go seperate or with the wheels. Ooops yeah, sub 5000 vin. Dunno if that matters at all, but I just thought it was cool. A/C is actually pretty nice. I think all it needs is a belt, and it should work. Or so I am told. Thanks guys

My first Z car! 56k....you guys are still around?
Yesterday I bought my first Z car! Unfortunatly I could not drive it away just yet because the car has not been registered in a few years and needs a few things before its good for the road. Insurance, registration, and an inspection. That will all happen first thing tomorrow and I will drive her away! Because I don't actually have the car yet, the previous owners photos will have to do. First things first. I need to get rid of those horrible Enkei wheels. The car comes with the original "slot mags" which look endlessly better. After that, the color needs to change. Its not a good paint job. I don't know when it was done, and I can't stand the color. The paint code is right on the radiator support and is #905 red. There are a few spots where you can still see the original color. The old paint looks great in spots like the spare tire well. Yikes getting the paint done properly will really cost me a lot! But I think it will be worth it. This is a fantastic car, and in really good shape. Build date 5/70, and the VIN is sub-50,000. Not the original engine either, previous owner never had it. So it is presumed lost. All I know about the current engine is that it has an E88 head. Once I actually have the car, I will hopefully be able to find out more. Really excited for my first Datsun Z! Let me know what you guys think!
