What should I do with my father in law's Z?
If you don't have the time take it to a mechanic and see what it needs to get running and driving right. It might be a tune up, tires, and some alignment. Do what it needs and drive it as a toy. It will last that way for years, not all of these need to be restored. There are a bunch of people that take them apart to restore and they never get them back on the road. Figure out what it needs to be drivable for a year, then drive it for that year before deciding to restore it. That one year of driving can quickly turn into 5 years of driving it instead of 5 years in the garage as a project...

Z's at the Barrett Jackson auction.....OPINIONS
On site buyer pays 10%. Offsite buyer pays 12%. Seller pays 8% if no reserve, 10% if reserve http://www.barrett-jackson.com/bid/absentee.asp#6 I was there last year. These are the fees. Yes BJ gets some from the buyer AND some from the seller on the same car

Z's at the Barrett Jackson auction.....OPINIONS
That is the sellers fees, they get a buyers fee and a sellers fee. If you are there (paid the $500 registration) it is 10%. If you do it online or phone it is 12%

The most expensive Z ever offered for sale....$300,000?
Why does everyone think Jay Leno will buy every old car? He laughed about that in an interview once. His quote was "everyone with an old car thinks I will buy it for a crazy amount of money if I only knew about it, keep dreaming"

# 486 for sale on SF Bay area C.L.
or he will get the attitude of "These Z guys are A-holes" and just send it to the crushers.

Welcome Advice - Going to buy a 370z
If you are only going to put about 2500 miles on the car each year the gray one already has 5.5 years of miles on it (in your case). I would get the 2010

Braided Hoses...... Who Needs Them?....
The Roadsters had braided fuel line so it would make sense that some early Z cars had it also.

Rare Z that I'll be bringing back to life . . .
That is on the White car, which has a number plate. The silver car does not have that equipment or a number plate (I have seen the car in person) It even has stock wheels. So the Silver car is a regular one with some stripes and spoilers..... All I am saying is I don't know if it is worth rescuing one that has that much rust only because it had a dealer add on package. If you like the looks of it, get a better car and replicate it...

Rare Z that I'll be bringing back to life . . .
I know what the factory Celica Sunchaser was. If I was talking about those I would have put 30 years ago instead of 15 years ago. Google 1995 Celica Sunchaser and see what comes up.... This was not the factory models, it was a Dealer thing. Why is this different? As far as comparing it to the Seattle Z-Hawk, again, why is the Bob Sharp car not considered the same? The Z-Hawk was stripes, the Bob Sharp car is stripes and some spoilers..... I think it is a neat car, I just don't know what makes it more rare than any other Z. I just think it was a way for the Dealer to make more $$$

Rare Z that I'll be bringing back to life . . .
From what I read the Dealer put on accessories and some stripes and called it a special edition. Does that make it rare? In that rough shape, what is the difference if I take a regular silver Z and put the spoiler and stripes on it? Why would that one be worth more? About 15 years ago the local Toyota store was installing spoilers and sunroof in base Celicas and marking them up as "sunchaser" special editions. Come trade in time it was still a base Celica.....

Datsun: Marque of Honor 2011 at The Glen
It was supposed to be Datsun this year (2010) but we were bumped in 2009 when Alfa announced a return to the USA.

Still No Love at Barrett-Jackson
Don't forget many times the photos look better than the car in person, you never know what the buyers saw. If you can't bother putting the emblem behind the rear window on the driver side, what else was skipped? I think that it was a good deal on both ends for a personalized 280

Nice looking 1964 L320 on eBay
That is actually higher than what they usually sell for. They have been stuck in the $3500 range for a few years. It is one of the reasons you don't see many on the East Coast, buy a truck for $3500 and pay $1500 to ship it and it is worth $3500..... I drove mine up to Watkins Glen NY a few years ago instead of a Roadster. Long trip when the truck maxes out at about 50 MPH...

Nice looking 1964 L320 on eBay
There are some out there with low miles. Mine was bought as a farm truck in 1964. It has just under 40K miles. How do I know this? 46 years later and it is still our farm truck. Original paint, chrome, etc. The only modification is a spray in bedliner from about 10 years ago, mainly for grip..

Mylar logo'd sunshades - Completed
Yes 2 mil, it was a long day. Vinyl for signs starts at 1.5 mil and goes to about 4 mil, thinner is better.
-
Mylar logo'd sunshades - Completed
Sign vinyl has adhesive on the back, so you are good there. It looks like he is using 2mm vinyl, so the letters are only 2mm thick, you will hardly notice they are not silk screened. Nice job!

Only starts when jumped..?
If your battery is completely dead, charging it from the alternator for 10 minutes is not much of a boost. Did you have the idle up to make sure the alternator was kicking in?

**Wrecked**
If the accident was your fault, you would be obligated to take whatever settlement your insurance company offered. This was not your fault and you are under no obligation to settle for a specific amount and/or in a specific time frame. Keep saying no until you get what you want. Is the rental on their dime? The longer you keep it, the more it will cost them in the long run. You did nothing wrong and it is up to them to make it up to you. I had a rental for 8 months one time, the rental bill was more than the settlement I wanted.

BlueOvalZ - CarDomain's SOTY?
Now you are just coming off as a sore loser. You're right, they must have cheated since you did not win. I am not into collecting trophys and awards so I don't get that upset over it.

BlueOvalZ - CarDomain's SOTY?
How do you know they just did not post on Mustang boards like you are posting on Datsun boards? There are a lot more Mustang guys out there compared to Datsun guys.
