Hey Joey, I bought an 80 lb. blaster at Harbor Freight for around $100, they have two locations in SA. Look up Keller Materials in SA for the media, a fraction of the price you'd pay at most stores. When you start blasting try to do it on a surface that you can sweep up the media on. Screen it and use it again. I've been using fine silica sand, blasts through paint and rust with no problem. One thing I would like to have is a sandblasting helmet that connects to an air supply. Larry

Hey Joey, sounds like you have a carb that's too rich, causing black electrodes. I believe there are two adjustmants you can make, one is the butterflies and the other is on the bottom of the carb which effects the mixture. I think you get everything else, plugs, points, etc. changed and set, then you adjust the mixture screw on the bottom of the #1 carb until you get the RPM at the highest point and then tighten it a 1/4 turn to lean it out. Then you do the #2 carb the same way. It's been a long time since I tuned SU's, so I may be mixed up, maybe someone else can chime in here.

Hey Joey, your pretty cleaver. Isn't it nice working on this old school stuff. Get power to the coil and gas in the carbs and your ready to turn it over. I'm still working on the last few rust spots. Look at what a small pinhole on the outside looks like on the inside. Larry

Hey Joe, sounds like your hard at it again. Did you pull the pan on the motor? I bought an old ford pick up a few years ago. It had been setting at a auto repair shop for a while. The truck started up and drove around the block fine, the oil was clean, but when I was driving it back on the expressway all hell broke loose. Apparently a glob of old oil was floating around in the oil pan and finally got sucked into the oil pick up. No oil, no motor! Larry

Hey Arnie, you are living a blessed life! I started a restoration a few years ago on an early z. My boys are off on there own now. Whenever they come to visit, we spend several hours talking about the progress made. They help me with what ever repair I'm doing and their aspirations to get their own project cars under way. I'm working on the last few rust spots now, I've replaced the floors, a rear quarter panel, front frame clip and lots of little holes. It will be off to the sand blaster's for a touch up and priming before long. If you'd like to see a work in progress, I'm in San Antonio, send me a PM. The build date seems wrong to me. I'm restoring car number 311 and my build date is 10/69. I'm sure my door tag is original as I've owned the car for 37 years. Larry
