    Classic Orange......but I'm biased...:classic:
  2. I recently won these RED side panels on EBay, however my 71's interior is Butterscotch.....so I grapped a Preval sprayer and some color matched paint and.....poof...new panels. This project turned out better than I expected so I'm going to tackle the plastic panels so everything looks new. I'll throw up some more photos as the project rolls along.
  3. I agree with you Deesz, His feedback and attitude would keep me far, far away. Also, to actually say he would rather it rot than to sell it for 16k.......thats just nuts. 20k, sure if it was a lower vin. 16K, perfect for this car. 18k, if all the "refreshing" is done a very fair buy. Just my humble thoughts........
  4. Thanks for the help guys. I'm getting the paint from Les, he sells it in pints that are color matched to original interior and it should be here by mid next week. Geezer, I took your advice and cleaned all the panels this evening per your process, after all this cleaning they look pretty dang good. I'll post some pics as soon as I get everything done.
  5. I am going to be receiving some paint that matches the interior Butterscotch color for my 71. I am going to be painting the plastic panels and wanted to know is it as simple as going to Home Depot and buying a sprayer to apply. I know rattle cans would be easier, but all I have will be pints. Has anyone ever done this and were the results what you wanted. Thanks, Randy
  6. I feel your pain..... Today I had to wear jeans instead of shorts to drive my Z.....

It's very hard to catch Roger, I think he's still trying to get everything organized from the move. He is only about 8 miles from me and I have trouble getting hold of him. Email is still the best bet. Good luck.

Isn't $3500 still a pretty dang good price? If it was a 4 spd I would have been tempted to click the BIN on day one. Am I missing something with this car and this price?
  9. Regarding the differential, it is ok to lift right on the diff? I never have in fear of damage, but you guys are lifting there on a regular basis. Good post CJK, as I was never quite sure of this either.

If the description is true about the rust wouldn't this be an Excellent buy?
  11. Hey thanks everyone, Hmmm, 85 degress curvy road and no police.....gotta go with the TR, it loves curves and of course is topless..... I guess I also need to give the Z's a two line listing.... Doug, good luck on the Mustang, let us know how it turns out. I just sold my 67 vert 2 barrell.......here's a pic. Cheers, Randy PS.....It's going to be 63 degrees today and 72 on Tuesday, life is good in TN.
  12. Hey Doug, Look to the right of the screen, the 240's are on page 2 and the 356 on page 3. By default the TR was put on the first page, still trying to figure out how to arrange the pages. 99% sure I'll be at the Rome this year....same place as last year? Try the link again and see if the Z's show up. Take care,
  13. Well I was bored today and decided to try and do a free website that included pictures of my cars, here's my rookie attempt. Please excuse all the ads, but hey it's free. http://www.freewebs.com/mally2/ Hope everyone is doing well.....
  14. Thanks guys, I really appreaciate the help.
  15. I was going to start installing the new vinyl today, and did a quick dry fit of all the pieces. Where should I start? Should the trans tunnel diamond go on first or the piece behind it. Also, and yes I'm thinking easy......but in the rear on the strut area and wheel wells can the new vinyl go over the old?? I was going to pull it off unless it doesnt matter, I was thinking it might provide more noise buffer but didn't know if it would adhere very well....what do you think. In looking at this project I was thinking it wouldn't be that difficult, but now I'm worried I may screw up the new vinyl...any tips..... Thanks guys, Randy

Thanks guys, My old stuff was very fadded and stained, plus I got the new seat covers and wanted the vinyl to match. Looks like Weldwood is the way to go, I'll post some "after" pictures hopefully soon.

Hey guys, My new diamond vinyl just came in from Les today and I was wondering what would be the best way to install it. Aerasol spray adhesive? what brand? Where do I start? Any tips or tricks....etc. Any help would be appreaciated. Here is what it looks like right know...... Thanks, Randy
  18. I noticed today that there is a "growl" or low "grrrrrrrr" not a "whine" coming from the rearend of the car ONLY when I'm coasting....You give it any gas at all and the noise stops, but then as soon as you come off the gas and coast there's that noise again. What in the world could this be??? What should I look for and would you drive the car anymore...... Thanks guys....
  19. Hey Mike, Don't know if this helps or if you can even tell but here's a picture of #797 that I took at our Z car show, it looks tinted to me but can't be sure. Randy
  20. Ok, Finally got most of the rust cut away and 90% of the fiberglass and here's the deal, someone did weld in new floors sometime ago. The question I have is do I need to take more of the metal out or is it fine to start the repair on the outside. Viewing from the inside you can see the welds and the floors are solid with no holes or rust, there is a little surface toward the rear. I was going to finish cleaning and then Por 15 the inside unless you guys recommend something different. Regarding the outside, I can still cut some more out but it would be solid floor to cut, I did get all the major rust and decay out. I havent air blasted all the cracks, etc yet but after everything is cleaned am I done and ready to seal? I would appreaciate any advice as this is all new to me.....but I'm having a blast working on this. Thanks again, and when I get this resolved and get my new interior in I'll post some pictures. Thanks guys, Randy

I couldn't find any, but as a point of interest when I pulled off the old covers from my 71, here's what was underneath.....
  22. Hey guys, All the stuff coming off the bottom is fiberglass and rusted "original" metal. I got some more off and you can see the weld spots from the other floors that were put in, its crazy why they left the old rusted floors there.... When you take off the fiberglass, that is where you find all that old rust, It is so bad that the pieces you see in the photo's were from me just reaching up and pulling it down, but when I pull off the rust here's these non-rusted blue floors....it's really weird. I've been working on this for hours so I'm going to take a break for a while, and yes the drivers side is the same. +1 on the eye protection, this stuff is going everywhere. PS...Any recomendations on what tool to use to get all the rust out, I've been going very slow with hand cutters. Also RolfSis, great looking car!!!
  23. I think I should be happy, buy since I am a rookie when it comes to body work and structural things here's my situation. Yesterday I posted What would you do with the rust I found and the fiberglass covering it.......Well, after chipping away alot of the fiberglass I found SOLID FLOORS???? What kept throwing me was where the exterior rust was heavy I couldnt find where it came thru the inside, so I hacked away and this is what I found..See Photos. So, is it as simple as just removing this old "rust cover" or is the whole floor and rails still at risk. I am going to assume the PO fixed the problem from the inside, and left the outside alone and just glassed over it. So, what do I do now??? I really love the car but want to be sure I'm safe driving down the road. Thanks, Randy

Thanks Bre, I'm sure I will be asking soon. This may be a stupid question, and remember I'm no body/mechanic man but how will I know if it's structural? In otherwords, what exactly do I look for. When I have the car lifted up and all the fiberglass removed, is it as simple as the frame rails not rusted thru...or cracked etc. I'm not 100% sure how to check for structural integrity. It is the car from up North, it looks great and runs great and smooth and I just got all new interior for it from Les, and now this.......arrrg. Anyway If there are structural issues at what cost will it be to correct. I'll try and post some pictures on Sunday when I get it lifted and most of the glass off, then maybe you guys can tell me more. Cheers, Randy

Thanks guys, I'll be removing all this fiberglass on Sunday, the drivers side looks to be covered with the same so I'm sure it's bad too. I throw up some more pictures of what I find underneath after I get all this glass out.
