Seat foam
How hard was it to install the vinyl over the new seat foam? My vinyl is in really good shape, however the foam could be upgraded. Would the existing vinyl go back on the new foam from classic datsun, or is the replacement vinyl larger...or does this even make sense. Thanks

Just an FYI on service manuals and books
You folks may already know this, but I just got 2 service books and and resto book from Amazon for the outragous price of $3.75 each, well one was $4.10. They are all used but in very good condition, so if you need a service book or two and don't want to drop $15-25 a piece check out the used ones. Now maybe I won't ask sooooo many questions.......nah... Randy

help with value
Mitch, I was pricing 240'z for nearly 5 months before I bought mine. Your's looks very nice, and depending on what the rust situation is here is what I ran across, the range is pretty broad. Low of $5,500 (in very good condition, no rust, just needs small refurbishing) High of $13,500 There were also those that were in the 25k+ range but they were Nissan restored cars. You know the car better than anyone, so you know the good and the bad. Look at past ebay auctions, classic car trader, and presently for sale cars. There are much more experienced folks here than me however that can give you additional advice. Remember, the best time to sell your car is when you don't have to. Good luck, Randy

E-brake boot question
I thought it was just on the 240's, didn't 260-280's have carpet?

Last question before Christmas...I'm not HOT
Greetings all, I hope you guys don't throw me off because of all my questions. I noticed yesterday and today( here in Knoxville, TN it's been in the low 60's) while driving my temp gauge is just barely moving past 120. I went on the interstate for about 4 miles after a 15-20 mile leisure drive and thought maybe it should register hotter. I figure I will go ahead and replace the thermostate next week, unless you guys think otherwise. I did do a search on this but the post that came back addressed "over heating" not "under" Is this cause for alarm, or just normal. Again, Thanks. Randy

Confusion over correct part
Thanks Carl, The rubber run was only $12.64. The felt part number came back "item not found". There is a part 80335-N3700 that is Nissan felt-glass, I didn't know if that was the same so I figured I would call Tuesday to verify before ordering. Thanks again, MERRY CHRISTMAS

Confusion over correct part
I had to fix my window regulator today on the drivers side(left), and in the process the material inside the chrome window frame just crumbled. I looked at Black Dragon and Motorsports to see what goes back in there and both sites have different parts. Is there two pieces that go back in? A rubber piece and a felt, or is it just a rubber channel? I have no idea. Just to clarify, when you roll the window up, it would be what the top and side of the glass rest in when rolled up. If anyone knows the correct name or part number please let me know. Thanks in advance. Randy

Radio..No sound
Ok, I'm still laughing after that last post. I have no idea why but I took eracer's advice and did give it a good smack(out of frustration I admit).....Radio's working fine now. So, I guess I'll be tracking down all the #$!#$% wires.

Radio..No sound
No, it's an aftermarket am/fm cassette.

Radio..No sound
I will be the first to admit that Radio's and wiring are not my strong point. This has to be so simple, but I can't figure it out. Got in the car this morning radio is working fine. Just went out to the store, and the radio lights are on, but no sound. I checked the speakers, contacts are good. There is no static, or any type of sound what-so-ever, however the radio is working fine. Any thoughts? Thanks, Randy

Yes, more questions from the new guy
Thanks, I ordered the service manual from Amazon on Tueday, still not here. Carl, you should take pity on me and fly to TN and do these projects.....for free of course. Anyway, thanks for the heads up on my "simple" projects. I actually may be able to start answering questions when I get through with my car. Holiday Greetings, Randy

Yes, more questions from the new guy
Hey folks, I hope you guys arn't getting tired of me asking so many questions. I am learning from everything ya'll post so it really is helping. I am just so excited about my car that I can't stop tinkering with it, and each day brings more questions. This is my 3rd 240Z, however I was much younger when I owned my other two, and it was before the computer age, so this forum has been GREAT. So here goes: 1. I have a complete set of weatherstripping for the car, on a scale of 1 to 10what is the difficultly level. Are there any secrets or tips for installing the new or taking off the old? 2. I noticed today...(I went on a 40 mile cruise) that the shifter is making a noise when your running, kind of like something is bumping the shifter. You can grap the knob and hold it and it's fine, so it's like it's loose and rattling on something. Is this a bushing, or some simple repair? 3. Installing the emergency brake cable, how hard is it. Advice or tips, or take it in to Nissan or other. Thanks in advance. Randy

Interior almost complete...man I'm tired
I just won a footpad on Ebay, so I'm not sure how it attaches yet, I would assume it slips on, but I'll let you know. Take care.

Gas dripping at rear after fill-up
Wow, I was away for only a day and sure missed alot. I certainly didnt think my question would bring about all this. The good news, it was the vent hose. Since I filled ALL the way up, it was simply going through the vent hose. There has not been one ouce of gas after I ran some out. I will be replacing the vent hose, and when the tank needs addressing, I will gladly pay for that work to be done. I have ZERO experience with that type of work. Also thanks to eveyone who responded, I have only been a member here for a short time and you guys have helped me numerous times. It is also comforting to know that everyone puts safety first......That means alot. From a guy that just loves Z cars and will no doubt have numerous other questions.......Thanks Randy

Interior almost complete...man I'm tired
Hey Jim, I'm the third owner, and the previous one said it's original, but I'm not sure. The past two owners never used the car as a daily driver so it's always been a third car kept in the garage. Everything is still pretty much all original, and only 84k miles.

Door adjustment....can it fit tighter
Bump.....Do these pictures offer any suggestions. (Look at pictures on post #15above)

Interior almost complete...man I'm tired
Thanks, you guys have good eyes, I didn't think anyone would notice the foot rest, . I found one on ebay, so maybe I'll be the winning bidder. The dash cap was already on the car when I bought it, however I did install one on my 71, and it was pretty easy. There are quite a few write up's on the board that could give you better directions than me. Do a search on dash cover. Hope everyone has a great Holiday.

Gas dripping at rear after fill-up
Thanks for the info, I think you guys are right. After I ran some gas out it completly stopped....so I'm taking your advice and never filling up.

Gas dripping at rear after fill-up
I just filled the tank on the 240 and noticed gas was dripping from the rear. After inspection it appears to be running down a black hose that is located almost at the far rear. If you look up from the ground it is behind the tank, nearer the taillight(right side). Any ideas why at half a tank it doesnt leak, but full it's dripping? Thanks,

Interior almost complete...man I'm tired
Well, My B-quiet came in last night and I took today off to lay it all down. I got everything in and placed the carpet. I also had ordered the 240Z floor mats, but I'm wondering if I should leave them or stay all black with no lettering. I still have some minor things left but that will be another day, Ive been working on this all day and it's time for a break. Randy oh yea, still gotta get rid of those door speakers and radio.
