What are you guys using for the inner air cleaner rubber
I was getting ready to attach the air cleaner cover and noticed the black inner rubber seals are dry and cracked. It looks like these seals are NLA and was wondering what would be a good replacement. Let me know what else can be used, or if by chance these are available let me know where. There are two seals, one thinner but taller, and the other more flat. Thanks in advance, Randy

What to expect for under $3000. . . in Georgia
There have been two solid drivers sell recently here in knoxville, one was a 76model for $2800 and the other a 77 that went for $3100. The 77 was a very solid driver with only two owners. As everyone will tell you, buy the best example you can, it won't take long for that $1500 car to need another $1500+. Good luck, if I come across anything I will shoot you an email.

Did all series 1 240's have a electric fuel pump?
I got a call today from the shop asking if all series 1 cars had electric fuel pumps, while finishing the fuel lines today they stated my car did not have one. I have no idea, so was wondering if you guys knew. Thanks, Randy

Engine electrical hook-up pictures.....
Hey guys, Does anyone have photos of the different wires and where they connect for a series 1 240z in regards to the engine bay only. I am taking the rest of the week off to work on the Z and have no idea or schematics on where to begin the hook-ups. Basically just the wires on the passenger side as the entire harness comes out of the firewall, some are pretty obvious but others I have no clue. Also it has electronic ignition so if you have any advice on this connection please let me know. Here's a few pictures I took today, I should have taken photos of the wires but forgot. Thanks for any assistance, and with any luck can get her started on Friday.

These are going to make the rest of my car look bad...
Hey Gary, I think thats right, the whole setup usually runs about $650 to $750. I will try and remember to take my camera Wednesday, I was at the shop all day today and forgot it. It really does make the rest look bad, I'm thinking of polishing the valve cover now. Still haven't started the car, we decided to go ahead and pull the tank off and clean it really good, boil it and reseal it. We didn't want to gum up the new carbs if there was still some bad gas or other floating around in there. Tank goes back on tomorow, hopefully by Friday we will have the first start. Les is shipping out the entire Blue interior this week, Hopefully the shop will finish late this week and I can get it home and start on the interior. Will try and post some pictures later. Hope things are going well with you. Regards, Randy PS.....The hood and right fender have to be stripped again and re-painted, for some reason they both developed a chip and it flaked off to bare metal. The PPG reps came in and spent almost 2 hours going over the rest of the car to see if there was any potential "risks" of that in other areas....they said it was limited to those two areas only. They are going to fit the bill for the repaint and finish, stated they had never seen that happen before.

Series 1 fuel door knob....
Hey guys, I searched around but didn't find a source, I am needing a knob for the fuel door but can't find them anywhere. Are they all NLA? I think there are 2-3 different styles, but at this point I'm getting desperate. I didn't realize when I took on this project almost 15 months ago all the small pieces that were missing. Anyway, if someone could point me in the right direction on where to obtain a knob please let me know. Also, does anyone know where the fuel door attaches should there be a rod going through the spring on the right side interior of the door. I notice when I close the fuel door it wants to kick out on the right side.

Antenna Poll Question
Whats a good source for the chrome antenna?

Antenna Poll Question
I know the correct answer is "whatever you like, it's your car".......BUT....... What do you guys think of the black rubber antenna instead of the original. The antenna on 797 is broken and I was leaning toward the black rubber rather than an after market automatic one........Just curious what you guys think about that rubber one on a 240Z. I do like to keep things original, but the antenna, well, I just never gave it any thought until today. So, Black rubber or OEM ish original.

Help with door part....any ideas?
Thanks for the offer, I really appreaciate it. I should have clarified that Roger is great and a wonderful source, but with both our schedules it has been really hard to get together. I think Jerry is going to lend me a hand, but if something changes I'll shoot you a PM. Thanks, Randy

Help with door part....any ideas?
Thanks Zbane and Z's-ondabrain, I haven't tried Roger at Z barn yet, he's hard to get hold of and meet up to get the parts. Z's, if Jerry doesn't have one I would graciously accept one of yours and reimburse you for the trouble. Thanks for the tips on the install as well. Regards, Randy

Help with door part....any ideas?
We (the shop) has misplaced the door handle linkage that activates opening the door from the outside. I have looked every where for that small linkage piece but can't seem to find it. Any ideas on who may carry it. Also, I tried unsuccesfully to atttach the one linkage I do have but could never get it installed. Surley I don't have to remove the window to get the rubber stop into the hole......(does that make sense). If I attach the linkage to the handle first it's too long to get it to go into the receiver end. If I try after the handle is installed I can't get it to push into the handle end..... Any help would be appreciated. For refrence here is a picture, I need the part the red arrow is pointing to. Thanks, Randy

What is this called...need to order.
Hey Mike, Yes, that is the set I was looking at. If they are cut down would you consider using them, would the hoses be at the local dealer or would a standard fuel line work. Would like to get something to take back to the shop on Wednesday, but don't want to compromise safety.

Jeff and Arne, Thanks for the clarification on the valve and hoses. I did find the check valve, and just as you said struck out on the hoses. However there is one set on EBay right now but it still has 4 or 5 days left. Since I'm not looking to do a concours restoration, is it safe and effective to use a hose from an auto parts store? If so what grade and size. Thanks guys, hopefully one day before I'm 80 I'll get this car running.....

What is this called...need to order.
OK, After owning 5 240Z's I should know this.....but sadly I don't. What exactly is the part pictured (circled in red) called. I couldn't find it on several parts catelogs so I thought one of you guys could help me out. Thanks, Randy PS....Generic picture from a 73, but assume it will be the same for a 70.

These are going to make the rest of my car look bad...
Thanks Fellas, I actually got these from Paltech, here's the link. http://www.paltech1.com/ I still have my originals from ole 797, but after seeing this set-up I had to have it. They have been bench tested and have a warranty for 1 year. The turn around was right at two weeks. I have never dealt with paltech but I would highly recommend them...... at least so far. After I looked into rebuilding mine, and basically getting them to this stage it was a wash on price. I paid $750.00 for everything you see and that included two day shipping. Hopefully they run as well as they look.
