Compiled Z Car sites
You guys are welcome. I checked all these links before I posted them and there are no dead links. Half the fun in owning a Z car, sometimes, is chasing down the parts. It shows the stuff you are made of. And for you new guys, never be afraid or ashamed the ask for help or opinions at this site. The people on this site are willing to help and share the same love for the Z cars. Thanks Auzziez for the additional sites.

Thanks for the input. Looks like I'll have to wait a couple of days to check it out. It seems to be snowing here in Colorado, east of the Springs at this time. .

'80 280ZX fuel pump problem
I have been off this site for a while, other distractions. I'm back to working on my Z's since I retired. I have a '80 280ZX that's been sitting for 2 years that I bought mainly for the engine. After checking the engine over, I threw a battery in it and got it started. Tough to start and won't take fuel while cold. I suspect the cold start injector. The main problem I'm having is the fuel pump runs half the time when the key is turn on. I installed a temp ignition switch to see if that was the problem. It did the same thing. I'm thinking it is a fuel pump relay. After checking the engine bay breaker box and FSM, there are 2 relays, it seems to me there is a breaker missing. See the attached photos. So far I have replaced: distributor cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires and ignition switch. Does anyone have any ideas on the fuel pump problem? And, the fuel pump relays #2 on ebay show a single unit where as the FSM shows an elongated relay. Any suggestions, pictures or input?

240z Crackfree dash on e-bay
A year ago, I won a bid on a crack free 78' 280Z dash with all gauges and paid $800. When I got the dash, it was all I was hoping for. The down side, I had problems with the seller and it took me me over 90 days to recieve it. For the money and mential anguish I went through, I should have just repaired the old one or put a cap on it. FWIW. Good luck.

Our Dog Died Today
Red Dog, I know just how you feel. Two years ago, my little sheltie, Prissy, had to be put down because of kidney failure. My wife and I stayed with her as she passed and we cried. Coming home, I live in the country, I was going up my half mile driveway and my neighbor's Lab ran out of the tall grass in front of me and I ran over him. I had just lost my dog not 30 minutes before and here I've hit someone else's dog. He ran into the grass but didn't get far and couldn't breath. I stayed with him to comfort him as he passed. I had my wife go to the garage and get a tarp and we wrapped him in it. I took him to my neighbor's house but he wasn't home. I left a long note on his door and placed the dog on the front porch wrapped in the tarp. I was sick with grief. All I could think of was I had killed two dogs in one day. I felt awful. My neighbor called me and we cried and he forgave me. He also thanked me bringing his dog home to him and said most wouldn't have bothered. I know how you feel. I'm sorry for your loss and you both deserved better than that.

Some solid restoration info
Gary, While I respect your opinion, if you would dig out a bigger shovel, no pun intended, you would see this site is great for general restoration tips. Everything from painting, welding, bodywork, upholstery and much more. There are a lot of new folks on this site that have never done any of this. Check the site below. I would have never thought of this myself. And if you have the extra wood and no money for lifts, this might be the ticket: http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/138.cfm Also, check the column on the left under "Departments" and check;Beginners corner, How to and Restoration tips. http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/department30.cfm http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/department26.cfm http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/department29.cfm I know this is not a pure Z site and our site here has great information specific to our Datsuns. I just felt this site offered some great tips and solutions that anyone could apply while restoring a car. BTW, no offense taken, still friends?

Some solid restoration info
Stumbled across this web site. While this is not a Z car site, the info can be applied to your restoration project. A lot of solid info here: http://www.secondchancegarage.com/

Bolts,nuts, etc....where to buy?
This is the way I'll most likely go. I really need all the help I can get with the bags of hardware being labeled. I have broken about 5% of the hardware I've removed from the body and what did come out doesn't look that good after 30 years. Stainless + anti-seize when I put my 280Z back together. Still, rather costly but worth it.
-
Which project to do first?
With the choices you listed, I would do the engine work first then paint the car. That way you don't take a chance on scratching the new paint job while doing the engine work. I don't know how good of a job they can do painting the engine bay with the engine in place, FWIW. Good luck.

Where are the girls??.
Lost in translation? I don't know. We all need to be considerate of others and their feelings, male or female. We should all carefully read what we have typed to make sure it's not taken the wrong way.
