My wife let me order a rotisserie from Eastwood with 10% off and I got a 50 lb pressure blaster FREE with the deal. Should be here the middle of January. She also gave me a 100+ drill bit set. She is one sweet woman.

Why, yes it is. I like it when you talk rough.

Stephen, John, please forgive me. You both are way too gentlemanly. Full House, I know you probably don’t have a clue, but please don’t compliment any of the ladies on this site again.

Here, here, DeMoore. I couldn't agree more. The gals (ladies) deserve more respect on this site. They come here for advice on the one thing we all love and that's our Z cars. Any gal willing to work on her own car has my respect. And, if she wants my advice, I'll be straight with her without the cute remarks. Ladies, if I'm out of line, let me know.

This has been waaaaaaaaaaay more info than I wanted, but funny. But no, I haven't. All I got was the license plate frame.

Here's a web site, not a Z car but use the same techniques. http://www.route66restorations.com/1.html Good luck.

A three legged dog walks into a bar and announces to all that were there, " I'm looking for the man who shot my paw".
  8. Here you go David, plus a shot of the chrome wheels.
  9. I'll take some tomorrow when the weather clears. Thanks for the backup.
  10. A good friend at work has a son that bought a 80 280ZX for $800. He drove it for a week and then it wouldn't start. My buddy chased the problem down to the starter. Being the nice guy that I am, I loaned him a starter off a 78 and one from a 79. The 79 Z starter worked and fix his problem. His son drove it for two more weeks. During this time, he let me test drive the car. The car has a lot of rust but the engine, with a 5 speed, ran strong. It also had some really nice chrome wheels. Several days later the car had electrical problems and wouldn't start again. He left it parked and bought another junker. So, the son offered me the car. The good news is, I got my starter back. However, the rest of the car was attached to it. Hauled it off for $300. I really need to stop this. Five various Zs, four engines and five trannies. can you say "intervention"?

I see you are in Newport News, I bought my '78 Z new there when I was stationed at Langley AFB. Go down to the local Nissan dealer and take a test drive in a 350Z to help you get over the blues. Catch you on the flip side, best of luck.

The guys I deal with here in Colorado Springs are good, friendly and will take the time to look up parts. They still carry some parts for the Z but when making an inquiry, a part number goes a long way. They will ship as well: http://www.woodmennissan.com/

Wow, having read all of this, I can reach only one conclusion; it's getting deep. My left arm is fully extended above my head upon reaching this point in this thread. I'm trying to save my watch. But really, when it comes to cars+engine size+driving habits+all the other variables, it is what it is. If your car is rated at 24MPG, that's what it is. To sell a car that's paid for but gets 17MPG to buy a new car that gets 34MPG, along with a $400+ car payments doesn't make any sense either.:stupid: My daily driver is a 2002 Forester rated at 27MPG Hwy. If I get 25.5MPG, I'm grateful. Here's what I know works for me: 1. Tire pressure inflated to max rating for the tire. 2. K&N air filter. 3. No hot rodding. (no smart remarks about my Subaru) 4. Use cruise control when possible. 5. fresh spark plugs every 10K miles. 6. Mobile 1 every 5K miles. Now you guys play nice and for Pete's sake, don't put mothballs in your gas tank.:lick:

Happy father's day to all that happen to have that title. I hope your day was as enjoyable as mine. My son, he's 25, is home on break from Baghdad and he spent the day with me striping my '78 280Z. We managed to remove the: steering wheel and dash seats, seat belts and carpet windshield and rear hatch and side windows drain and drop the fuel tank remove both doors What a day, it was great. Down side was on inspection, the passengers side floorboard will need replacing due to rust but that's to be expected. I hope you all had as much fun as I did today.

Mike, That's right, when you're behind the car, it looks blue. However, if you're driving, in your rearview, it looks white. Andy has 295K on this car. Same amount of miles on the engine since rebuild? Also, one should look in the radiator and see if there is oil in the antifreeze and pull the dip stick to see if the oil is milky colored meaning water in the crankcase. In that case you're talking a cracked head or cyclinder/water jacket.

FWIW, it's been my experience that the following holds true: Black smoke = excess fuel/flooding White smoke = oil burning form worn rings or leaky valve stem seals White smoke that dissipates quickly = water in exhaust system/blown head gasket When you floor it, strain and pressure on the engine will cause the smoke to show. Hope this helps.

Geezer, I read your post and you have nothing to apologize for. However, you are the better man for doing so. Whoever sent the PM was a crappy headed bore:nervous: Let's get back to what we do best: express our love for the Z cars and sharing the advice that keeps them on the road.

I finally have the appropriate sign for my garage. Go to http://www.northerntool.com and type in "sign" in the search block. They also have some great tools and other items.

Bruce, Great job, I'm impressed. I have a spare dash and I think I'll give your method a try.
  23. You guys shouldn't kid around with this. Check the thread and look at the tripometer. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1975-...QQcmdZViewItem , "666" ain't nothing to mess with. This car's possessed or maybe repossessed, whatever.
  24. That picture is just so wrong, on so many levels. I would bet if you could look in the back, the rear window would trimmed in dingle balls an a little dog who's head bobs up and down. But we're right, that picture is some funny sh*t.
  25. LMAO, this is why I love this site. I was worried I may have spent too much on this dash but like true Z owners, you backed me. You guys are great. And you are right, the wife deserves a night out and flowers for this one. I also know what you mean about keeping track of money spent on parts, I don't want to know. And Toecutter, what the hell was that?
