wheel opinions
Thanks for all the info, seems like a toss up if they will fit. I really like the nissan snowflake wheels on the later Z's but they seem hard to find. The guy i bought them from is restoring a 510 and said his neighbor does body and paint and to check him out. I found a pic with these wheels on this dudes toyota van http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2227666

I ended up getting the snowflake design. He had them on a 510. the specs are:14X5.5 4X114.3 +27 offset, their alot lighter than my iron cross rims.

I'll check it out, hopefully they will fit. he says he use to have a 510 and also a 300zx. thanks for the advice. just found this helpful link searching the forums, looks like the rims are from a mid 80's corolla. http://kmhafer.datsun510.com/wheelFAQ.htm#The%20Wheel%20Chart

I'm going to check out some used wheels someone is selling locally for cheap on craigslist. I"m leaning towards the set that looks like snowflakes or the non-gold ones. any suggestions? here's the link below. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/pts/356074974.html

oil pan drain plug
I changed my oil yesterday and over-tightened the drain plug, it now just turns in either direction. Luckily, no oil leaks. I'm guessing I stripped the threads in the oil pan. Any suggestions on removal? I'm hoping I don't have to replace the whole pan.

Keep the defroster grid?

help me identify this
I won this console on Ebay awhile back and think it was from a 78z. Anyways, I installed it today along with new carpet. The console came with all the wiring and switches. I used the switches with this console. After installing, everything works fine except now my turn signal lights do not work at all. Not sure what caused this, but I do have my original ones and might put those back in. Also there is a ashtray light bulb with 2 wires which I didn't hook up, not sure where to connect them. I need to get a good wiring diagram. 77 2+2

help me identify this
I just picked up a used center console and need help on what this part is. It is located on the passenger top side of the console. The wired end is connected to a 3 pin connector.

rear hatch area
I have a 77 2+2.. production date 3/77. here's a pic of a 77 rear interior I found searching the forums. So to me it looks like a piece of fiberboard with carpet over it. The vinyl over the rear wheel wells are clean and still intact in my car. I'm going to take some pics and post them up soon.

rear hatch area
i also noticed 2 straps across the carpet and a few holes for bolts?

rear hatch area
When I bought my Z, the carpet was completely stripped to the bare metal. I have a carpet kit for the floorboards. The rear hatch area is also bare, just metal, spare tire, and jack. From pictures of other Z's it looks like a a carpeted cover over the spare tire well? Can something like this be purchased? perhaps I can make a custom cover.

240 280 front fenders
Just passed the California smog test yesterday (woo hoo!). The Nox reading was high (borderline passed) but everything else was low. I have a 77 280z 2+2 and someone has the left and right front fenders from a stripped out 240z. He says they will fit on my car and the only difference is the size of the side lights. I' was told to replace the 240 fender with my original lights and there shouldn't be a problem. I'm just curious if anyone has done this? I have rust on both fenders right below the emblems. The 240 fenders are rust free and I figured this would be easier than having to weld some metal on them. Here's a pic of one of the rusted fenders. Any opinions appreciated.

1st Z
No offense taken. I bought this car on a whim without doing research on it. So the body is longer and heavier and you have to be under 5 feet to fit in the back seats. For the price I'm happy with it. I do like the rear quarter windows that open up. I was able to find alot of used parts on Ebay. I checked out one of the local pick n pull yards last weekend. Only saw 1 260z in pretty bad shape and stripped out. There were a ton of ZX's. I'll keep you all updated on the progress.

1st Z
Just sayin Hi! I never owned a Z but have always liked the look of the old z cars. I recently picked up a used 77 280z 2+2 for $600. It needs paint and interior help, but the body is straight with mimimal rust and the engine runs strong. I want to fix it up with original parts. The owner did some modifications. The distributor and rotor are from 79-83ZX (he says it improves fuel and HP). I also noticed the steering wheel looks like it's from a ZX. I'm guessing alot of parts are interchangable with early ZX's. I want to replace it with an original Z steering wheel. Are these easy to replace? and is the ignition different. Look forward to talking with the Z experts here.
