Starting Carb Conversion: Flat Tops to Paltechs
- Question on coolant lines around carbs
I removed most of my coolant plumbing, SMOG equipment, and installed a euro balance tube to tidy up the engine bay. Since the car is a fair weather plaything, it doesn't need to be setup for temperature extremes.- Datsun 240Z Registry of America - Phillip A. Ray
Not sure what if any value this bestows on your vehicle other than the equivalent of a participation trophy.- BMW 507 on BaT
That 507 would look perfect parked inside my custom gargage next to my 300SL Gullwing currently being polished by Scarlet Johansen wearing a string bikini 😆- Starting Carb Conversion: Flat Tops to Paltechs
Maybe it's the angle or the gasket...but the carburetor spacer look like it's sagging a little in the middle. Hopefully it isn't cracked.- I shrink wrapped the Z today
You should have used the ribbed version with the reservoir tip 👌- Remember When?
One of my quarantine projects was to clean out my files of old documents. While sorting through some old car receipts, I stumbled across an invoice from December of 2003 for a complete NOS exhaust system purchased from Courtesy Nissan. With a $70.00 freight charge, the whole system set me back $297.48. Given what a NOS exhaust system would run for today, I should have bought a couple more and sat on them 😉 I recently saw a Datsun 240Z used parts ad for a pair of used Koito headlights with an asking price of $300.00, which got me to thinking: Anyone else have old receipts or recall the prices for parts that today would require the sacrificing of a kidney to own?- KUDOs to Ztherapy
I ordered a set of carburetor parts from Bruce today. Great, friendly service. Business must be good since the current turnaround time for rebuilds is March of 2021.- Surprised Nobody Brought Up The Z Proto Reveal
I concur. The current Proto front end looks like the designers just gave up on it. I'm sure the aftermarket will have a lot of front end options to choose from when the final version comes out.- Z Proto: The next z reveal
I'm for keeping the new Z fossil fuel burner with an option of a twin turbo. Nissan should learn a lesson from the 2nd gen Acura NSX. It was intended to be a V-10, but went into production with a V-6 and electric motor assist, losing it's soul in the process. It's indeed a technical marvel and strong performer on paper but since 2016, less than 2000 have been built. Not really a marketplace success for a flagship model.- 70 240z
A rusty Z in Arizona? ***Mind blown*** Seriously, please post some pictures to help assess the situation.- Siphoning Gas
When I was a teenager, all it took was a section of garden hose, a moonless night and a dependable lookout to get the job done.- Fun post for Tuesday
This picture needs to be posted on the boobs thread!- best way to sell
So true. Additionally, I am noticing the BaT audience now expects walk-around, cold start and driving videos of vehicles on the auction site. There's a yellow 1971 240Z on BaT right now accompanied by a nicely produced video narrated by a fine English gentleman. If I ever sell my Z, I may have to hire Richard Attenborough to do voice work to get the best price ?- License Plate Hunt for '74
The perfect period-correct plate is probably hanging on the wall in a dive bar in Steubenville ?- New Z Owner
Nice find! The overzealous use of padding on the bottom seat cushions may be also contributing limited seat height. The car was probably reupholstered when replacement OEM style seat covers and door panel were not readily available.- Need a shop in So Cal area for various servicing

- 1973 240Z seat belt bolt locations on floor?
- Group Spindle Pin Puller?
I got my spindle puller for about $40 from a guy on the HybridZ website. Granted, that was many years ago and the tool got lost in a move.- Datsun registry
It's the internet, there's always room. If you got the talent, time and resources to create an updated registry, go for it!- Early vs. Late Series I 240Z's
For starters I would consult the following: https://zhome.com/ A lot of time and effort was put in to create this valuable reference. This will give you a good baseline on what is original equipment at a given time of the production series. I believe canvassing the community will produce conflicting information, given how many of surviving vehicles have changed hands over the years, and was at the mercy on what was available at your local Datsun parts counter when a replacement was needed.- Plugging Air Rail holes in exhaust manifold
I had a Z where the PO just sawed off the main rail of the air gallery and crimped the ends. Another car I owned had it removed, plugs left in place and the holes plug welded. The latter looked much better. - Question on coolant lines around carbs
