  1. Welcome to the forum. In my opinion, the best tribute you can give your friend is to keep the car original and maintain it with the same level of care the automobile has become accustom to.
  2. California Datsun. It appears that California Datsun will remain for parts and Doctor Datsun will be for restoration services.
  3. Given the 500 mile radius you desire, I would suggest contacting Doctor Datsun in Rancho Cucamonga, which is ~400 miles from Sacramento. https://www.doctordatsunrestorations.com Al, the proprietor, completed component refurbishing and final assembly of my '72. I was very satisfied with the quality of work and attention to detail. My other suggestion would have been Pierre Z in Gardena. However, it appears that health issue has forced Pierre to cease operations.

Maybe Z cars without the hole are worth $310,000.00 ?

I concur. I've owned a number of Zs and none had anything screwed into that hole.
  6. Originally purchased for $3,757 and sold for $310,000. Nice!
  7. Interesting observation, Kats. I wonder if this anomaly can be attributed to degrading of the underlying seat foam over nearly half a century. That coupled with the driver's seat being primarily used and the vinyl has possibly conformed to the foam beneath it. Unfortunately, I can't test my hypothesis unless I can see the car firsthand and give the seats the Charmin squeeze test ? Perhaps I'll create a GoFundMe account and have forum members enable me to place the winning bid on this gem, so I can commence with proving or disproving of my theory ?
  8. I get a chuckle that people posted on the BaT auction thread if the clock works. As if an inoperative clock will be a deal breaker on what will easily be a six-figure auction result.
  9. It might a case of Shelby-envy. Perhaps he'll show up at the next ZCon and offer to autograph glove box lids ?
  10. This one should make for a very lively auction and colorful commentary! https://msclassiccarsllc.com/VehicleDetails.aspx?vid=751
  11. My car is a 12/71 build and it has vertical defroster lines.
  12. During the recent auction for a blue Series 1 resulting in the reserve was not being met, I saw posts that were personal attacks and not germane to the subject. The auction thread was peppered with entries marked as, comment not constructive. It appears there is a common group of fanatical Z silverbacks on BaT with the predisposition to throw poo at each other when a mint example goes on the block ? Unprofessional conduct does nothing to help an auction and denigrates the comrade of the Datsun Z community.
  13. It is sad to see how a couple of those "expert" posters with ulterior motives will dominate the dialog on a 240Z auction and denigrate a car for the sole intent of promoting their own vehicles. You are wise not to post on BaT, as your car would be in the cross hairs of the verbal elementary school food fights that is now so common each time a good 240Z is posted.
  14. Bring a Trailer has been a real meat grinder when it come to snarky comments from the 240Z peanut gallery there. Best have a thick skin and and a Nomex fire suit if it gets posted on that venue. IMHO....sit on the car until the weather warms up, Christmas credit card bills have been paid and tax refunds are in a prospective buyer's pocket.
  15. The growing girth of modern automobiles are a direct refection of the consumer

My wife will attest this is the same sounds coming out of my exhaust pipe after a Taco Tuesday dinner.

    Phew....just checking ?

I hope you don't plan to drive on tires that are nearly half a century old.
  19. You probably need a hose bender.

My two biggest regrets: tattooing my ex-wife's first name on my bicep and installing a rear spoiler on my first 240Z ? Keep the back slick.
  21. Bring a Trailer is a good venue. However, that group of prospective buyers tend to be very needy in the information department. Be prepared to have a solid understanding of the car you are selling. I mean history of the vehicle, any previous body work, condition of the mechanical, etc... Be prepared to include lot of pictures in the post, to include the obligatory shots of the battery box and doglegs. You will be asked a myriad of questions and be expected to answer them promptly. I have also seen many auctions where strong personalities with their own agendas dominate the discussion on a vehicle driving the dialog off the rails. That said, if you do not want all the hassle, try advertising on Hemmings Motor News first and see where that goes. Good luck.
  22. If you are not entered in a Concours d'Elegance event, why should it matter?
  23. I bought every issue hoping someday I'd find a sudoku puzzle.

Just imagine how the 240Z would have been received if it had an LS swap.
  25. Here's my contribution to the 918 Anonymous club. This paint job is about 2 years old and done in old skool acrylic enamel.
