  1. Here's an old thread on the car: http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50351-1970-240z-for-sale-stunning-restoration/

I'm pretty sure a Western Union wire transfer to the Bank of Nigeria is part of the sale.

I'm with psdenno...most likely a replacement antenna switch used for a period radio/cassette tape deck. Unless you have have mounting brackets on the fenders for machine guns
  4. I'm not dealing with rust, but more with grease. I purchased a HFT untrasonic clearner and it works pretty well. As for tumbler media, I suggest a visit to the Eastwood.com website and searching on green or brown plastic media. Lots of good info along with customer reviews.

The thread below seems to imply that fixing it would be difficult. http://www.djchat.com/showthread.php/57023-Un-warping-particle-board I had a damaged spare tire cover and opted to ordering a replacement from MSA for about $40.00.
  6. A mint and low mileage 1994-95 MR2 in Steel Mist Grey would be on top of my list. I had a Red 1993 that I regret selling
  7. Truly stunning. I would have to enlarge my living room and install a rotating stand in which to display it on

Intreresting to see the front and rear bumper guards painted the same color as the car.
  9. I've had good results repairing plastic air ducts in the engine bay using screen door material as a backing along with a mixture of Shoo Goo and POR15 thinner to make spreading easier. I plan to use the same technique on any plastic interior panels with may need the same attention.
  10. As a California resident for over two decades, it baffles me how the state's priorities are so out of whack. Gov. Brown wants to build a high-speed rail that is so over budget, it cannot turn a profit, let along make the promised time between LA to SFO of 2 hrs and 40 mins. Now impose another fee on a small minority of vehicles that shrinks as attrition and time takes it toll. The biggest problem facing the state is water, not going after old automobiles.

Most likely the owner is testing the waters and perhaps trying to capitalize on any momentum from the Z432 auction a couple of weeks ago. If the owner is serious, a good place to display it with a "For Sale" sign would be at the upcoming MSA show. Nothing like that kind of atomsphere to pray on a euphoric impulse buyer with a fat wallet
  12. Perform a search on Thermosteel. This stuff might do the trick.
  13. Nice find and the best color, too The refresh should be fairly easy and from the looks, it's later 1972 model. Also nice to see the PO opted to Ziebart or Tuff-Kote it years back.
  14. Given the type and quality of the other items in the estate, I would assume the paint job isn't Maaco grade.

Have you tried Banzai Motorworks or Distinctive Industries? http://www.zzxdatsun.com/ http://www.distinctiveindustries.com/catalog/1970-1973/644

The padded headliner of the 240Z was specifically designed to mitigate the adverse effects of multiple episodes of blunt force trauma to the female passenger's cranial region when she engages in vigorous and unrestrained sexual exploits with the male driver within the confines of the vehicle. Although this activity was not envisoned by the Nissan engineers, it is a welcomed side benefit.
  20. I still have a pair in wrappers. I assume the part number is the same for left and right?
  21. Many years ago, as a teenager, I had a Z with a pristine dash. One day, the clock stopped working and I decided to give the top center guage pod a good slap to hopefully get it ticking again. I think you all can figure out the rest
  22. The short answer is that a highly modified car will be of less value than stock in the longrun. I would argue it would cost more money to bring a raceday Z back to stock than the other way around. Try doing a search history on Ebay to compare active and completed auction prices of stock versus modified example in similar condition. That should provide you with an initial baseline of value for comparison.

It is reassuring and somewhat vindicating to see a solid example fetch that price. However, part of me hopes the early Z market does not get too exuberant attracting speculators, who will start driving up the cost of parts even higher than they are now. I felt kind of foolish a few years ago paying $50 for a 4-speed shift knob from Courtesy Nissan to keep as a spare. I looked on ebay today and was floored to see the same part going for triple the price! This makes me want to store the original NOS exhaust system I been hoarding under my bed for safe keeping

I was figuring the Z would sell for about half the claimed restoration cost. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50351-1970-240z-for-sale-stunning-restoration/?p=458429 Looks like the (former) owner got that...as well as a fair comission for the selling agent.
  25. I believe this is the same vehicle I pointed out sold on ebay yesterday.
