  1. Mike (Zspert) still has firewall insulation listed on his website for sale. https://www.zzxdatsun.com/catSoftTrim.php
  2. I normally just coat the mounting pegs (sans the barrel clips) with adhesive from a hot glue gun and affix the emblems to their respective panels. There's enough resistance to maintain a good hold.
  3. This might be a good opportunity to encourage the owner to switch to an R134 system where the AC compressor mounts on the other side of the block. In my situation, most of the emission plumbing was removed and the compressor now resides where the air pump was previously.
  4. If you have ruled out a leaking clutch master and slave cylinder as the culprit, then I would look manual transmission oil seal.

Much easier on a table.... unless you are a contortionist 😉 Also, having the hatch on a flat surface with make installing the stainless trim much easier as well.
  6. They look really nice. I'm tempted to get a set just to have on hand given how brittle the original panels can be after over half a century of exposure to the environment.
  7. I'm not a fan of front bumper overriders. It makes the front of your Z look like an awkward teenager forced to wear headgear.

Correct. The wider part of the marker lens will face the front and rear of the vehicle respectively to compensate for the tapering body line. My understanding is DOT requirements is to have the lenses be as flat as possible when you are looking at the vehicle sideways.
  9. My baby was a Christmas build 🎅
  10. Given the consistent placement, I would assume it was put on at the factory before the cars were loaded on a ship

When I was stationed at Hill AFB I lived off base with my new bride in a little $275/month apartment in Layton. Fond memories of a simpler time.
  12. The closest thing I can think of are the nylon guides that is part of the window roller mechanism. They do tend to wear and break over time and have no place to go other than the bottom of the door.

IMHO you will reap more advantages undercoating than not. Better sound insulation and more of a protective layer from flying debris that may chip your paint exposing bare metal to possible rust. Ultimately it's your call. Franky, I rather side on longevity over vanity especially on a section of the vehicle that is prone to road damage and really won't see unless one is crawling underneath.
  14. A strange location to hide keys seeing that you would have crawl under the car on your back and fumble around to find the container, if you were locked-out and couldn't pop open the hood from the inside.
  15. Older cars without catalytic converters are not going to burn newer fuel as efficiently. In fact, one of the main jobs of the catalytic converter is to change hydrogen sulfide into sulfur dioxide, which has no odor. I just returned from a local cars and coffee event and pretty much every car older than 1980 smelled like it was running rich while driving past. The bottom line is our Z cars will seem to run rich when compared to their newer contemporaries . Better to run it bit rich than going too lean and risk engine damage. IMHO
  16. The only time I experienced ATF being burned off by the carbs is when I overfilled it. Eventually the excess gets burned off. I would try running the carbs a bit leaner or maybe popping off the tops and re-seating the needles and see if anything changes.
  17. Time for some Xiaflex

I say buy a can of woolwax, give that area an annual spray and call it good 👍
  20. If you are not a stickler for originality, Redline makes some stuff out of real leather. I purchased a leather shifter and handbrake boot for my 2nd gen MR2 and was pleased with the quality. https://www.redlinegoods.com Granted, not a 240Z, but this give you some idea of the leather grain and stitching Redline uses.

They are indeed pricey. I would say they are not needed if your 280Z is now mostly a garage queen that is kept in the garage away from the elements.
  22. Jay Leno approved 😉
  23. Good buy and just what the buyer's CPA recommended 💰
  24. FWIW...I'm riding on Suspension Technique springs, KYB struts and 205/60-14 with ZX rims.
