I recently purchased a set of factory six spoke aluminum wheels (14X6) off a 280ZX, which I’m going to mount on my ’72 Z. The plan is to replace all current rubber bushing with urethane ones and install a set of Tokico struts and spring as well. What is largest tire size that I will be able to mount on these wheels without worrying about anything rubbing? I’m hoping to go with 60 series rubber like 195/60s or even 205/60s. Am I about in the right ballpark given the wheels and suspension setup? Thanks! :nervous:
I had pretty good success repairing a hairline crack on my ’73 console by using Testors contour putty I purchased at a hobby store. I applied it using an applicator I cut out of a plastic coffee can lid. I wiped off any excess while still fresh with a damp paper towel. Once dry, I finished it off with a coat of semi-gloss model paint. You’d have to be looking for the crack to notice it.:sleepy:
The vehicle was recently purchased in Kansas, and shipped to California. It is rust-free with 41,000 original miles. No cracks in the dash and the clock still works! Full restoration will have to wait for completing my last 2 years of college, home renovation and paying off some bills.
Oh well, someday…
Maybe it's the photograph, but it looks like someone has painted the chrome air vents with silver paint. Also, there are quite a few wrinkles in the vinyl on the drivers seat, door panel and the transmission tunnel. The engine bay could use some detailing too. If the reserve is at or near the $10,000 range, then I would hope for a little more attention to detail.
A question for the CCZCC folks: I’m in the process of purchasing a ’72 240Z and would like some recommendations for a good body and paint shop in the SB or SLO county area. I found a car with no rust, low miles, but a lot of door dings. Thanks!
