  1. If "Macho Man" Randy Savage came back as a car, this would be it.
  2. Who knew Putin hated hybrid Z cars

If zspert no longer has them, JDM-Car Parts is another source. https://jdm-car-parts.com/collections/interior-trim-nissan-datsun-fairlady-z-240z-260z-280z-280zx/products/reproduction-rear-view-mirror-for-240z-260z-280z-ever-wing?variant=13657966772333

When restoring my original 11/71, I discovered some black paint was applied on the lower edge of the rear quarter window body panel. Of course, later series cars received paint behind the "Z" emblem as well.
  5. I think it would have been best to have at least closed the thread from further comments. Much like posting warning signs around a mine field so it doesn't claim more victims.
  6. I recently swapped out my mirror due to it starting to clouding and de-lamination around the edges with the reproduction linked below. https://jdm-car-parts.com/collections/interior-trim-nissan-datsun-fairlady-z-240z-260z-280z-280zx/products/reproduction-rear-view-mirror-for-240z-260z-280z-ever-wing?variant=13657966772333 Here are some photos of the original Ever Wing mirror I replaced. The back is in nice shape. If you want to go the used route, let me know.

Newsflash: by peppering this thread with multiple photos of your latest acquisition you are boasting. You could learn much from Bob and Marci, the original owners of this car, on the finer points of etiquette.

Does the VIN on the firewall match the tag on the passenger side shock tower?
  9. I have not been impressed with any of the 240Zs offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club. In fact, the showroom is actually closer to Skid Row in Los Angeles than Beverly Hills itself. Kind of ironic if you ask me.
  10. As with many milestone automobiles, the 240Z has evolved from a enthusiast car, to collector classic and now a market speculator's commodity. I have owned a few over the years, but hearken back to a simpler time in my youth when my first Z cost me $3,500 in the early 1980s. I have mixed emotions regarding current values and would have to give serious pause about getting into the hobby today given the high cost of entry. I am just glad to have purchased mine years ago and restored it at a time when NOS parts were still available and reasonable.
  11. The cracking is probably caused by bad paint formulation or the paint was applied too thick with not enough time between coats. Given the overall quality of the repairs, it was fixed on the cheap and in a hurry.
  12. My "Datsun Guy" is over two-hours away from me and I always says a little prayer he stays healthy 🙏

Here is something to stump any Millennial viewing this thread 😉

It might be time for me to upgrade from Windows 98 since my Juno dial-up speed seems to be crawling on my 56K modem 😉
  15. I'd stay away from tumblers because aggressive media can round off screw threads and sharp edges of the component. I really like my ultrasonic cleaner. The one I purchased is large enough to easily clean the body of an SU carburetor and make quick work of years of grease and crud build-up. I'll make a solution of 1 part Simple Green to 4 parts water and put it in a clear plastic zipper loc bag, along with my parts. Next I'll put it in the cleaner and fill the of the tank with plain water. It also works great to keep jewelry nice and shiny. It has paid for itself is time saved in labor.
  16. It might be good to reach out to your fellow Z enthusiast in Arizona to recommend a shop nearby. https://www.desertzassociation.com/ https://www.facebook.com/DESERTZASSOCIATION/
  17. I would try Z Car Doctor in Idaho https://zcardoctor.com/ The small s-slip that keeps the choke cables together went missing on my '72. He didn't have it, but connected me with another Z parts collector that had one 🙂

Here's a post with actual measurements:
  19. They would make a cute couple 😉
  20. I would love to add another Z to my stable. Unfortunately, I'm on thin ice with the Boss of the House.
  21. I'm looking forward to seeing this example going up for auction on BaT. The level of effort and detail is exemplary 👍

Add this to your collection too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Datsuns_(album)
  23. Didn't you get the memo? All Classic Z Car members must wear their requisite pieces of flair when posting 😉

How about an actual classiczcar.com website sponsor?
