1972 240Z Vintage Z Program Car up for Auction on BaT
Speaking of VZs, I found these shots of a program car on display I took back in 2002 at the MSA show in Orange, CA. If my memory serves me, it was for sale at the show in the mid 20K range. I don't believe Gunderson Nissan was one of the authorized original Vintage Z car resellers. Being this was taken a few years after they were first sold, I wonder if it spent part of its life as a showroom display or maybe was traded in for a 300ZX and brought to the show to find a buyer. I wish I had taken a photo on the VIN.

Fuel tank is out, Any opportunities to do something else?
I'm so glad this website is still up ? http://woodworkerb.com/home/datsun-240z-rebuild/general-tips-tricks/ There is good deal of restoration tips to include the fuel tank and hoses. It even has a section on replacing your broken or worn choke cables with piano wire.

Fuel tank is out, Any opportunities to do something else?
It's all relative, I guess ? I'd hate to tell you what I paid for a complete braided hose kit for the engine bay at JDM Car Parts online. ?

I did the POR 15 route on my tank and painted it. Before re-installing it, I bought a new sending unit and had all the fuel hoses replaced using the kit below: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240z-braided-fuel-hoses-complete-kit-with-clamps-for-entire-fuel-system/303199535108?hash=item469819c004:g:rioAAOSwkx5XEF-n The kit came with bent hoses to avoid having to improvise.

1971 240z Refurbish in Denver
Welcome to the forum. Don't know you paid for it, but looks like a gem definitely worth keeping in stock condition. Did old lady down the street give you any specific reason for the car's decades long hibernation? My guess is the 3rd gear syncro was going out and her husband never got around to addressing it. It might worth opening the gearbox and taking a look. I use to live in Denver off of 6th and Quebec back in the early 1990s, and recall seeing a red 240Z in the area. Maybe it was this one.

HLS30-00640 Up for Auction on eBay
It's sad to see such an early car in such deplorable condition. For the longest time these vehicles were seen as disposable and fell pray to adolescent whims and abuse. I plead guilty to hammering a few Z cars in my youth. I applause those who saw beyond that and preserved the ones that are quickly approaching the half-century milestone.

Franklin Mint Z
On a related note: The car has made the mainstream interweb, along with the obligatory volatile commentary. https://www.thedrive.com/news/28433/completely-stock-1970-datsun-240z-sells-for-baffling-124k-on-bring-a-trailer?fbclid=IwAR0nh7iO5NCfTMXx05cZ8wdaIBRRM81KMINsIVwRoD4t-_NsMh5MTYQBhgc

New to the forum, 240Z with most dealer options
Very nice car. It's just missing just one more important option to complete the ensemble: a vinyl roof ? My very first 240Z was brown/butter scotch automatic with a faux aligator-skinned 3/4 vinyl top.

It will be interesting to see what the 1970 "Franklin Mint" 240Z will bring when it goes up on BaT soon. Perhaps a six-figure car?

Nicest Original Survivor ZX???
I recall seeing a showroom mint black/gold anniversary example on eBay a few years ago with about 5K on the odometer. That one must be in hibernation somewhere.

Original 240z Exhaust - What's it worth?
During the recently completed restoration of my '72, someone offered $2,000.00 to take it off my hands. Sorry, I didn't store an NOS exhaust system for 10 years and lugged it around for two house moves just to sell it ?

It went to 40K when the gavel fell. Strong money for a solid example.

'72 240Z on BaT Already at $45k with 6 More Days to Go!
Nice car. I just hope we are not seeing an overly exuberant Z car bubble. A just year ago, jaws would have dropped if this sold for even 35K.

Datsun Z kit car from a VW
Yikes! An illegitimate lovechild from a 3-way between a 70's Mercury Capri, Datsun 240Z and a Reliant Robin

HLS30-09579 selling for pretty cheap on eBay
C'mon...where's your sense of adventure? A bit of naval jelly and some wire brush work and she'll be ready to go on BaT.

I want to buy a cheap 240z-280z!
It's bittersweet to see these vehicles climb in value so rapidly. In some ways it is vindication for all the years I coveted Z Cars when they were marginalized for not being German or lacking V-8 muscle. Now mint examples are out of reach for some and rough examples too problematic to restore with some parts becoming hard to obtain.

THE RESTORATION OF CAR #304
Hey...that's my old dolly #304 is sitting on ? I remember buying the rusty thing from a body shop in Sylmar and painting it John Deere green/yellow. It's was rust prepped and painted using POR 15, so it should hold up well. It gives me much satisfaction it found a new home with a fellow Z enthusiast!

Found old Z pictures. I’ll start!
I didn't have a chance to witness the races at Steamboat. About a year after that picture was snapped, Lowry AFB started closing and I was transferred to a base in California. Many fond memories of my assignment in Colorado.

Found old Z pictures. I’ll start!
I was a member of the Z Car Club of Colorado (ZCCC) back then. I believe 240Z on the far left of the photograph belonged to Larry Hutfles. The picture was taken back in around 1992.
