Christmas cheer isnt here
Sorry to hear that you are having a rough time during the holidays. I hope you have good memories of your father you can fall back upon to get you past this bump in the road in your life. May the new year bring about happier times and peace in knowing your dad will always know that you love him.

original color
My first 240Z (1973 model) in 1981, still had the original brown paint/butterscotch interior like this one below... http://www.hotautoweb.com/73240z.html

1971 240Z Factory Restore
I think we are establishing a good timeline here as to when reclining seats appeared. My 1972, (HLS30-59593) manufactured 12/71, has reclining seats. So, one can say the seats changed between November/December of 71. On a side note: My car is equipped with non-retractable seatbelts, but has the recesses behind the seats for the later retractable units

Tool Inventory
Thanks for the information, HS30-H. My car's production date was 12/71 (HLS30-59593). These kits must have sat on a shelf until needed.

new toy for me too
Black always looks good on a Z...even more so when the body is straight like this one seems to be. IMHO...I think the silver rocker panel strip and wheels compliment each other very well. I could be wrong, but I think that rocker panel moulding was a dealer installed option back then.

Interior rear tail light panel, how should it be attached?
My 1972's rear interior panel is held in place by the same plastic rivets that keeps the other plastic panels.

Pics of my z
It's really nice to see a very original '65. 6 cylinder. Correct?

Classic or Custom
I spent my teenage years modifying perfectly stock Z cars and wished I left things well enough alone. As I’ve grown older (and maybe wiser), I have learned to appreciate a stock looking car. Just my humble opinion…

How well do Z-cars handle?
Hey Hawaiiankine, Nice to hear from someone back in the islands. Do you live on O'ahu? I grew up in Mililani, and left for the Air Force back in 1986. Do they still have autocrosses at the Aloha stadium parking lot on the weekends? Also, is the drag strip still open out in Ewa Beach?I use to take my 240Z out on the strip when it was open to the public for Saturday night races. Now I'm homesick for a teri beef plate and bowl of Zippy's chili. My 1972 240Z in Mililani back in 1986 Hang loose! Datsunzguy

r.i.p my z loving friend
I am so sorry to hear about your recent loss of Mira. Last April, I lost my dear bulldog, Tibbs, to kidney problems. I was so thankful back then to receive a lot of comfort from the members of this Web site community . Everyone’s kind words and genuine concern help me cope with my loss. I truly hope you receive solace in knowing that Mira has crossed the “Rainbow Bridge†to a far better place. I truly believe that when our time comes, we will be reunited again with the ones we love…human and animal alike.

Wanted early 240Z in Mint Shape
Here's a good looking one with very, very low miles. Looks fairly stock (from what I can see) except for the wheels and passenger mirror. If it's truly in mint shape, then the price is very fair. California too! CLICK HERE

Plastic wheel center cap
Hmmm...it looks like this would be its second repair. What kind of wheel is it from? You might be able to trackdown a replacement. If you can't find a replacement, I would clean out what's in there now and apply some good epoxy putty, sand and repaint it. -OR- If you're good with sheetmetal, cut a rould piece out that would fit the inner diameter on the silver circle. Then, bond it to the plastic cap with some JB Weld, and paint.

The rich are getting richer.....
As time goes on, I do see a greater divide between the rich and poor. I live close to 60 miles from where I work. Why so far do you ask? It’s the only place where I can afford a decent home. I see the middle class, the backbone of our workforce, funnel into the city from north and south. At the end of the day, we all begin the exodus back to our homes many miles away leaving our work behind. Every year school enrollment goes down in the city, a sure sign that the middle class with families are being driven away by the high cost of living. The only people left in the city at the end of the day, are the wealthy who can afford to live and enjoy themselves in this playground, and the poor who cannot afford to leave the city and end up waiting on the financially blessed tables in restaurant and landscaping their yards. I know this situation is not unique, which makes it all the sadder.

Decal placement
Hope this helps! 1. This photo is of a 1973 with 14,000 original miles for sale on ebay back in January. If you look real hard, you'll see the "OK" sticker on the passenger side quarter window. 2. This picture shows where the silver radiator coolant decal goes on the fan protector. Also, you can see the small kind of orange colored "Nihon" radiator decal right next to the top hose. This photo is of my 1973 Z taken back in 1992. 3. The engine close up is of a 1972 Z Store car taken at the MSA show back in 2002. The photo shows where the air cleaner decals are placed.
