My Red 72 from the 80's
I found this photo of my 72 Z while looking through an old photo album. The picture was taken in Hawaii back around 1986. Sad to say the car went all to hell after it was sold :-(

Anyone Know? Nissan Restorations
Les' Web site put the total at 40. I reckon that figure includes all shops that had the contract with Nissan. Click Here The Classic Datsun Z Restoration Program The Classic Datsun Z restoration project began in 1997 as an offshoot of our involvement with Nissan's Z Store project and our renown Roadster restoration service. On 10/31/98, Nissan officially ended the Z Store project after only 40 of the 250 planned cars. On a side note: I recall seeing a semi-completed dark green 1970 on ebay about a year ago. I think the high bid for it was about $7500.00, which didn't meet the reserve. Not sure what ever happend to it

73 Interior
An interior shot of my very first Z car back taken back 1981. It was everyone’s favorite color combination of metallic brown with a butterscotch interior. To top it off, it was an automatic! The only saving grace was the Lacarra leather steering wheel. Man, I wish I could get my hands on that steering wheel again!

Changing Flats To Round?
Back in 1991, I converted my 73 from flats to rounds and was able to use my stock air cleaner. Motorsport Auto use to sell an adapter kit. From what I remember it consisted mainly of a plate with shallow flat screws that attached to each SU allowing you to screw on the stock air cleaner. I did a quick scan of their catalog and couldn’t find it. Maybe a call or email to inquire if they still carry the adapter might be worth it.

Seat Adjuster Covers
I see them up for auction all the time on eBay. In fact, I saw a set with a "Buy it Now" price of around $50.00 this past weekend. Not sure if you'll be able to get someone to break up a set though.

Manifold Switch to E41/E46 Pros v. Cons
I am debating on switching my current stock E88 intake manifold and balance tube with an E46 manifold and E41 tube on my bone stock 72. I have to admit part of me would like to get rid of the air pump and the rest of the associated plumbing and replace it with the cleaner setup that would include a set of headers. Has anyone here made a switch like the one I’m contemplating and regretted it?

you really never do know..until its to late
My heart and prayers go out to you.

E41 and E46
I picked up this manifold and balance tube the other day. I’m in the process of polishing it and having the hardware re-plated. I like the clean look of it, but not sure if I’m going to take the plunge and install it on my 72. Anyhow. it's a good little side project :-)

POR 15 on Back of Bumpers
My front and rear bumpers came back from getting replated. I applied POR 15 clear to the back. Will see how well it holds up in 20 years :-)

Where's the vents???
All those items mentioned seem not to be on this vehicle. My bet is the car is actually a late '71. It would have been nice if the seller included the VIN number or at least a picutre of the data plate in the ad

Looking for a motor builder
Actually, I live in California. Dad’s last assignment was Tripler hospital, and he decided to retire on Oahu. Being a military brat, and living in Hawaii for 18 years, you get around on that tiny island. Sometimes it scares me that I can remember details like what base housing on Hickam AFB looks like...but I can’t find my car keys! :stupid:

Not a Z, but I had to share.
I work in Santa Barbara, California. Today, while crossing the street to get my daily lunchtime smoothie, I see a pristine silver 1957 Mercedes Benz 300 SL gullwing waiting patiently for the light to turn green. The light changes and masterpiece slowly drives up State Street. I watch the people on the sidewalk go about their business oblivious to the fact that a $300.000 plus classic legend has driven by. The distinct tone of the fuel injected slant six made everything around me silent. It made my Monday.
