Don't drive the car in the rain and you won't have any thing to worry about.
  2. I'd rather have a Turbo Pontiac Solstice then that Honda you are talking about.
  3. The flavor of the article was based on cars of today, 21st century cars. The 80's cars are either classics already or may never be.
  4. That's the point I was trying to make. The writer of that article interviewed the founder, Myers of RM Auctions which is a very reputable automobile Auctioneer. Myers says that he believes that the 240z may go on to be a classic. Either the witer of the story line misunderstood him or Myers doesn't know what he's talking about since the 240z is already a classic and has been for quite some time. As for the the Chrysler 300 I don't know about that. The PT Cruiser is just awful and I hope it is never classifified as a classic. Maybe the Mazda Miata, Some of the 500sl and SL 500 Mercedes and that body style with even the larger engines or the AMG version of the last 12 years, even the 350z 25 years from now and a whole lot of other cars. As for the 240z I hope all would agree it became a classic years ago.
  5. Hello folks. The title Will Cars of Today Become Classics is the title of an article in todays edition of the Wall Street Journal. The Home and Family Section Page D5. The article basically discusses which cars today may be considered classics 25 years or more from now. There is mention from Rob Myers founder of RM Auctions that he feels that the Datsun 240z could find favor in the future as attainable vehicles. I am somewhat unclear as to this statement because this has already been happening for a lot of years. You may be able to google WSJ and read the article. It's somewhat interesting. Just thought I would let you know. McKrack

I have a Vintage Air System in an american car I own. The system had to be modified some because they do not make a system specifically for that car as it relates to the ductwork. Same goes I presume for the 240 with any engine. There is some funky problem with the system. When it is realy hot out and muggy you have to put a little heat on with the AC to keep the windshield from clouding up. Sort of works like a defroster. Kind of annoying. I don't know if it will do that in a Z car.

I stand by my words. My series one 240z would beat the 350z Anniversay edition on a straight away like the one in KD Matt's video anytime. This is a stock restored rebuilt engine. What I didn'yt mention was the 350 I had was an automatic which changes things some. But all in all I know how both cars left the line and there is no doubt that my 240z would beat the stock 350 I owned. Of course Mr. Blake can't resist the jab however I presume it would be better living outide of my mind then living inside his. Thanks for the kind words Mr. Blake wouldn't expect anything different. lolololololololololololololol

Wow you folks are real rough on that guy. Let me tell yiy something. I had a 350 Anniversary edition and sold it about a year ago. My series one 240z would have beaten that car any day of the week.
  9. If my uncle wore a dress he'd be my aunt. Oh wait a minute in this day and age he still may be my uncle. Frame up restoration poppycock. Nice refreshing job, restoration I don't think so. There are so many things wrong with the car to call it a restoration it's a joke.

51,000 original miles with no vin listed. Not credible.

That's very nice specimen. I suppose it doesn't matter to you at this time that it is not dead nuts original. Some folks love the Panasports. I don't love them. I think they have an English bent to them not Japanese. I prefer the original D Hubcaps but that's what makes the world go round. Do you have an OEM set of wiper arms and inserts for the car? Would enjoy seeing more pictures specifically the interior. I also like white in any car. Second easiest to keep clean after silver. Good luck with it.
  12. The new 2007 Jeep wrangler that we just got which BTW 20 minutes ago I messed up the front bumper on has a 3.8 liter engine. I didn't know that I thought it was a 3.0 and I was told it is a new design they are using. The vehicle is still underpowered and drives like a car now. Anyway I thought all newer more modern engines of that size calls for 91 and above octane.
  13. I use premium and have no run on and no pinging. I am concerned about the valve stems. I have heard that unleaded fuel of any octane damages valve stems because I believ in our early Z cars the stems were not hardened like new cars. We just bought a new 2007 Jeep wrangler with Chrysler's new 3.0 liter engine and it calls for regular unleaded which I thought was odd.

What's the matter all of a sudden every one agrees with me. No dissenting comments? lololololololololololololololololololololololololololo

Many of the VZ cars were not very good so I must disagree with some here. Unless you think the wrong interior parts and sub par paint and some other issues constitutes a compleely restored to factory specifications good. I will accept a two stage paint job, but wrong seats and other things. No way.
  16. Yeah Mike in my experience the face plates broke quite easily at the screw holes.
  17. Yes I know the fellow who is selling that Radio on Ebay. I believe his Ebay name is Azaria. He is an honest and trustworthy ebayer and heavily in to early Z cars. I believe he is either in the Carl Beck Teen Club ( Z cars with VINs in the teens ) not the other thing which you can get arrested for lololol or Chris Wenzell's low VIN club. He completely restored my wiper motor and linkage and applied the original new cover for it. It came out better then new. So basically if you can pay the price you are going to get probably the closest thing to a brand new radio. If it's a restoration you are doing I recommend going for the extra money. BTW if it is the same fellow he fixes everything electrical for our cars and I have heard is a master craftsman when it comes to these things. The plating job on the linkage arms for my Z was just beautiful.
  18. ahh I thought I said I had a 350z Anniversary edition and I also said it was the best sports car right now for the money. So I don't think any one is bugging on you. The plain truth unless I am wrong is that Nissan has not done so well with sales of the 350z and that I believe is just plain fact Dan. Nissan did not do their due diligence in market resarch as intimated in other posts. They went the cheap way out and used the designs from another car in their Infiniti line up. My estimation they made a huge mistake now that they see the Mustang, and others. As for Porsche I had a Boxter and I didn't much like it so at least for me a Porsche enthusiast as well I don't like every Porsche introduced to the market. Now the Porsche I have now is a phenominal vehicle and may be one of the best cars I have ever had. But you know what If I had the choice the Porsche would go and my series one Z would stay.
  19. It's a thirty dollar car not a 30 dollar rear spoiler. I guess the word spoiler is appropriate in this case.
  20. Except for one thing. I am not sure that 350z has been a success for Nissan. I have been told by some dealers that it hasn't.
  21. Prsche has stuck with their basic design for a lot of years now. Their formula in my opinion is correct. It truly is the finest production sports car in the world in my opinion. I have had four. The 350z I had for the money is the best production sports car in it's class again in my opinion. Bruce Campbell is wrong. They did not get what they could out of the early Z cars. What they did do and please any one who has 300zx's which are nice cars don't take this personally, they turned what I think is the most beautiful Sports Cars in the world in to something completely different. What they should have done is to continue to refine the car as Porsche has and stick with what got them there. The pictures that I have seen of the new 350z or whatever they would have called it that they decided to not manufacture although a little plain was better then the car that is now on the road in the looks department. Maybe they will figure it out and go backwards. They did it with the Mustang, the new Camaro and some of the Dodge products. They can go from the present 350z and begin getting closer and closer to the 240z.

E I read the link you provided and due to my attention deficit disorder I am glad the shop took the hood and gently pushed laterally on it and it fixed the problem. As mentioned I suppose recommending that procedure might not be the most professional approach. I wish I had that link. I would have copied it and given it to the guy and come back the next day.

I wish I knew about that adjustment. Oh well the way the shop did it worked but maybe I shouldn't be recommending that. If the idle goes up after it's warm Chris it may very well be a needle issue. I screwed around with the screws once on my car and I completley effed it up and I had to get a friend of mine to reset the carbs for me because I had no idea what the hell I was doing. Anyway. It wouldn't hurt to check and lube the choke. Maybe for some reason it's binding however it would normaly do that when starting the car.
  24. Mckrack replied to mars23z's post in a topic in Carburetor Central
Does the high idle eventually go down. With SUs when the car is cold the procedure as most of the folks here know is to press the accelerator pedal a few times and then turn the ignition without pressing anymore on the pedal. At least that's how I do it. So when the car is cold it should high idle until warm then it should go down to 750 or a little higher. Even though Datsun called for an idle of 750 it's ok for it to be a little higher depending on how the car feels. Some like the idle at 900 or more. There may be one other issue and that is choke adjustment. You may want to check that. As for the hood. It's interesting you should ask that. After the exhaustive restoration of my series one car I asked the shop to adjust the hood because there was more space on one side then the other where it meets the fenders. He looks at it and BTW I trust the fellow immensely. He tells me there is no adjustment point and this is how it's done. He takes his hand and pushes on the hood. There now it's straight he says and sure enough it was perfect. Evidentaly in his opinion the two hinges are the key. They get how should I say just a tad altered forcibly.
  25. Yup the rains beads right off. Perfect just the way it should be.
