  1. First off I didn't say anything about a anyones car. I said I thought that car that was for sale was ugly. That's my opinion and my opinion alone. little to restrictive for me I guess you know. Just because someone gives their opinion without attacking someone or their character shouldn't mean the post should be deleted. This is a car site and we are all going to have our opinions and our passions for certain vehicles. I think that the moderators need to be a little bit more flexible and let all the participants opinionate a little without being shut down. That's what makes the world go round. The ability to think independantly without the fear that you are going to be shut up as long as you are pleasent and you don't bash folks.
  2. Yeah I was giving my opinion about the car. Do peoples posts usually get deleted here when they give an opinion that someone else doesn't agree with. That's odd. It wasn't just my comments but I respect other folks responses. I might not agree but there's room for some banter I have to presume. OH well. I don't get it. McKrack
  3. Know that's not the correct unit and I wouldn't use it. They are readily available including the extra one I have sitting in my parts bin. It may work but the part isn't too pricey and they are easy to purchase if you need it. I would look at the clutch slave as well if you are swapping it out. McKrack

Yeah not bad. The rear overider is pretty standard but there are other issues about the car that may concern the most discerning buyer. As mentined the radio. Not hard to swap out for the Hitachi AM unit and they are around. The shift knob is a repro, maybe one of Nissans Repros that are larger. The muffler/tailpipe not OEM and the rear finishing panel is typically the wrong color. Most you see these days are. The real original color was not the color of the hubcaps but a lighter gray as well as the grill. I think they all darkened up over time. There something funky going on with the passenger seat upright and the engine compartment to hard to tell but not clenaed up real well. Other things that most people wouldn't notice but we do. I would probably stay away from this one. As you know it always looks a whole lot better on a computer and then it shows up at your door. McKrack

I didn't take it that way. No problem. I don't know who did the work since I bought it from someone that way. I guess I will have it taken care of one way or another. Quit frankly if when I finally get to sit in the car if the sound deadener prevents the floor from flexing then I won't do anything. When I was at the shop the other day I pressed on the floor and it did buckle but now behind where my feet are sort of under the seat. I may get lucky. Will keep yo posted. No pun inteneded.
  8. I used Moyer Fuel Tank renu. They were good but you need to tell them what finish you want on the outside which should be black satin. If not they will spray it with a smooth undercoating. McKrack
  9. I have always believed if you get involved with something then you should become a student of it especially with all the money it costs to fix up a car like this. Don't you think Will. I think I have spent more time reading and investigating and going on web sites then actually getting the job done.
  10. I have investigated everything there is to know about these cars. I have a friend in California who sent me close up pictures of the interior and the engine compartment of his car and I noticed that the shif boot was the same as the one in my car but that round ring was gone. Do I asked him what was the deal with that and a number of other inerior issues and he tld me he thought it was made of rubber or plastic. I called MSA and they told me what it is and then told me that boot was discontinued. So I would like to get that somewhere. I don;'t want to put the lace up boot in the car unless I have to.

I appreciate the help. The pans are not OEM or Charlies pans he makes up there in Canada. The pan buckles whetre my feet go only on the driver side. The body guy says he knows how to fix it. Of course the undercarriage redstoration is complete soi now he will probably have to remove all undercoating and start over. I have copied and pasted your responses to him in an email. I will see what he has to say. Thanx for the help. On a side note HLS inferred that the pans were not installed correctly becaus he mationed that I was being too kind. Well if you saw them you would think that they were. I don't know crap happens doesn't it.

Does anyone know how to shrink a floor pan when it's buckling. When I get in the car and put my feet down on the drivers side it buckles. Someone told me it needs shrinking. I think the floor pans although they were installed properly by the person that sold the car to me are aftermarket and not original. Please chime in and if you don't know could you give me some names and email addresses of some people in FLA I could email. Does anyone know of anybody near Boca Raton. I can travel with the car as far as Orlando or maybe Tampa area. Thanks

David, Thanks very much for trying to help me out but that's not it. In the series one ands early series 2 cars 1969, 70, 71 the shift boot was the original design, no laces. It was a closed end boot and there was a small rubber grommet at the top of the boot as the boot slid over the shifter rod. In the seconfd half of 71 Nissan changed the design to a laced boot because it was to expensive to make the original. I need that griommet and they are almost impossible to find unless you get it out of a parts car. But thatnk you anyway I appreciate you going out your way for me. Mckrack

HLS I don't have any specific problems right now except for trying to find some parts.ery hard to find parts like the rubber grommet on the shift boot for the early Z cars. But I will ask when things come up. I will get some pics when I can figure out how to do it. The Burt Reynolds thing is interesting.
  16. No David I am Baruch Shlomo Ben Haim. That's Baruch son of Harold in English. But I appreciate your knowlege about Jewish names. Again I don't know who you are referring to but it's not me. I Think I am one of the only possible Conservadox Jews who has gotten in to Z cars. That's someone who isn't Orthodoz but almost. So we are alolwed to go to movies and have hobbies etc. I bought this car about 4 months ago from a guy in Detroit. Kind of a personal thing I'd rather not get in to . Can I count on your help if I need it. I don't know who Mike is either. BTW Do you know anything more about the Daytona thing. I tried looking it up on the computer. I hope it falls during ther week because I would love to get there for that unless it's on the Shabas. That's another Jewish word for you. It means Sabbath. Rent the movie The Big Lebowski and you'll find out what it is. Starts on Friday when the sun goes down to Saturday when the sun goes down. Anyway this is a great site I hope some of you folks can help if I need it. Bye for now.
  17. Hey David that car is really cool looking . How dod you get it to look like that in the picture. It looks a lot shorter and sort of wild looking. BTW I sent you a PM. I don't knnow what your talking about. My names Baruch and I just got my forst 1971 z car. Let me know if you can help. Your car looks cool.
  18. Thanx for the help and iwill ask qustions as I go. I live in the Boca Raton area and I don't know abnyone around here that knows anything about early cars. Some with 300zx cars. The guy who siad something about carmandog I don't what the heck he's talking about. What's in Daytona is there a meet there and when is it.
  19. Google Z Car Source in Arizona. Ask for Jeff or Betsey. These folks are great people and will have or can get just about anything you need to restore your car. I have used them a lot and I am more satisfied with them then any other well known vendor.
  20. Hi, I'm new to this site and I was wondering if any of you know of any experts on Z cars in Florida. I've heard of one guy Wersel who someone says he knows everything there is about early Zs and it suppose to be the the most knowledgable Z car expert in the United States and Europe. Thanx
  21. Gee That's great that you were Judge. You must know a lot about Z cars. How did you leran to be a judge and did you take a course in it. I would like to do that someday but I guess it takes a lot of experience and know how.
