z cars with the voice module?
I found the other thread on here,i downloaded the diagrams, but even after sharpening them up,i still can't read the color codes. also it shows a bunch of connectors not used but they are used on my module. if's def betty, but it also shows that there are different connections for the turbo, but doesn't say what they are. this is going to be an interesting project. I am mainly on here, this site, because of the SU project i'm building for my old honda, and ya'all seem to have a wealth of knowledge on those old carbs. the Hitachi type SU :nervous: :knockedou

Talking Lady
just found my modul at the yard, and looking at the diagrams, the trigger input is ground i assume,I will have to build a subharness in my old accord but it's wired almost the same as the z,don't you just love the Japanese? I assume the ignition relay is not needed, just a switched ignition source. i already have all the diodes installed factory for my warning center in the dash. what is the reason behind the speed sensor anyway? I have a speed sensor since i installed factory cruise in my dx,but i was wondering what it did with the voice. does it maby change the volume or something? I also see the radio has a seperate input, and output. does this module supply it's own amplification? I was thinking of using a voice activated module since i already have a relay setup that changes the front speakers from left and right stereo,to a mono amplified input that goes to both speakers, with only 12 volts in . in other words supply 12 volts and the front speakers disconnect from the stereo and you supply any kind of amplified input into a single input.

z cars with the voice module?
appreciate it,I will figure out when I can head that way, got to put a cv axle and brake calipers on the 98. no big deal though. hard part is explaining why I'm going to Savanah to pick up this "Betty" to my wife. LOL. Don't really know anybody in Doerun, been through there plenty of times going to Albany though.

z cars with the voice module?
ok bid on,I will need to find someone on here who has that section of wiring harness pigtail hanging around. it's missing the pigtail, but the box is there. just email me off of here and we will work out a price on the pigtail that plugs into it.

well putting it in is no problem,i had looked at the diagram about ten years ago from a zx,just never got around to it. I have the low fuel light already in my car and everything to wire it in.

z cars with the voice module?
Bitchin betty? ROLF!!! :stupid: I might have gotton one of those boxes out of what was possibly a sentra? gold module? it had the voice volume control in the car. only box I could find. if anyone has one they want to sell let me know. my car is all retro 80's style and thats one of the things everyone remembers from then. when i get it put in going to install an off button too. :classic:

su carb questions
] ok I went to Z therapys site, for one thing these are suposed to be a rare carb due to the drains in the float bowls. it's possible from what I've seen these could be 2000 cc roadster carbs. I need get my digital caliper out, disassemble them, and take a bunch of measurements according to the site. I'm going to be sending the bodies to them anyway to have the roller bearing throttle shafts put in. seems like a good idea considering how much time and effort I'm putting into this project.

su carb questions
ok one more dumb question, are you supposed to be able to level the float bowls, then lock them in place? or are they supposed to free float? if they are supposed to stay in one place, the bushings are probably worn out. can probably make mounting bushings from scratch if needed. I really would prefer to set them level since I'm going to be using braided line, and it's not as flexible.

who remembers the 310 gx cars?
who on here remembers the datsun 310 gx cars? I used to own one years ago,it was actually my first car. if my scanner worked I would post pics of me in the 8o's with it. I know it's an odd ball car,but I always like it,I went every where in that car. only broke down a few times for minor stuff. the suspension finally fell out from under it,so I had to sadly sell it for a parts car. I have not seen one since about 1991. anybody got pictures?

z cars with the voice module?
hey I am trying to get information on the z car that had the voice warning system, going to install one in my honda,I always that was just a great icon of the 80's. i looked into this several years ago and never got back to it. now I've forgotton all the info I had so carefully researched. If I can figure out which car had the module so I can pull one, and get ahold of a wiring diagram again,or a zerox of one. I would be great. I'm a wiring whiz,so making it work is a piece of cake. I had already figured it all out about ten years ago. then i lost my notes. I think there were several other nissan/datsun cars that had this system also,

su carb questions
do you know off the top of your head what the jet number would have been for the 2000 cc roadster? if I install that jet that would be an ideal match for the engine these are going on. any ideas on the float bowls? they look identical but the tops are different. I'm running braided line as much as possible. I think I'll just convert the oddball one to 1/8 npt. that way I can run two braided lines to my fuel rail I'm making in the center of the manifold.

hey
I will, you guys deal with these carbs all the time too so it makes it very helpful to be on here. they may be on a different car,but the carbs are the same. I already found the answer to the question of the bowl vent hose. besides I enjoy looking at the z's. at least you guys have a strong after market for your cars and people realize they are a classic. I have what I think is one of the nicest looking hondas ever made(i'm biased) but people treat them as junk. they are just starting to be noticed now that they are over 20 years old. but it's sad that there are so few hatches left on the road. lots of raggged out sedans but oh so few hatchs. we do have a big following on 3geez.com though. keep up the beautiful z cars and thanks in advance for any assistance you might provide.

Gas pouring everywhere
thanks,I thought about using the canister and making a solonoid valve open on ignition to vent the bowls, might work. cut down on gas smell anyway. then again,a real car is supposed to smell like fuel and oil.

su carb questions
na the throttle boe measures 38mm not 45mm,I wish they were, then they would be jetted for the 2000 cc motor already:surprised

hey
new guy here,I joined because you seem to have a lot of info on the su carbs that came stock on your cars. I'm doing a very complex conversion to a pair of SUs on a 1986 honda accord hatchback, and have had a lot of trouble finding info on the carbs. or parts. was a datsun fan before hondas, actually a 310 fan. when is the last time you saw one of those? and a 280 z fan

ok here is a picture of the carbs, and a link to the three geez site page where I've got the project on. if you enjoy technical stuff you'll enjoy this. the link http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56803&page=2 :knockedou

Gas pouring everywhere
why would you trash the carbs? just get a new needle and seat set if needed. the float bowl is seperate, the only thing in there that could cause that is the needle or seat. hey can you tell me where the overflow/vent hoses go on a stock Z? do they go to a charcol canister?

su carb questions
Hi new to this forum,I joined because you seem to have a good bit of knowledge about the hitachi SU carbs. I am doing a bit of a different project here, actually a different make, but still a vintage japanese car. I am building a custom manifold to install a set of the (what I believe) are the round top SU carbs. I bought these on ebay, for 150 bucks. they are supposed to be off of a datsun 510 sss. they came complete with the manifold. these are going on a 1986 honda accord hatchback, the 2.0 litre one. the last generation of accord hatches too. sniff. anyway I am still trying to identify exactly what I've got here. I assume the round top carbs are the ones with the rounded edges on the dashpot, and the square top ones have the flat edge? these look like vintage brittish SU carbs, except for the Hitachi on the fuel bowls. I will post a picture shortly. they look to be in pretty good condition. he claimed these came from a running car,but one of the linkage tabs was actually outside of the throttle tab,so it couldn't have been running too good. other then that, they look in really good condition, the inside of the fuel bowls are spotless, and they just look a bit dirty from sittiing. still going to rebuild for safety and reliability. the reason I'm putting these on my car,is not only for more power, but to get rid of the impossible to fix, computer controlled(no diagnostics) nightmare of a carb. what were the engineers smoking that year? anyway any help would be appreciated. I will post a couple of pictures of the carbs shortly. one more question, one fuel bowl has a 1/8 npt fitting, and the other has a banjo fitting. i can convert one to the other pretty easy, but maby someone needed a fuel bowl top at some point in time?
